Sorry, but I don't know this for sure.

Maybe it has started, maybe it is only a pregame, but does it make any difference? Welcome Smile

I kinda think this is "pregame", setting the scene for us. Introducing us to the antagonist. Not sure who our hero is going to be (if Happy remains free of Eidolon then it's probably her). The new "jackels" are now the Dogs. Instead of Spoocheeeee, seems we have this nasty "Trinity".

Looks like there is an important date already - July 27th (three days before the buck moon). Probably coincides with Peep's garden party (see his blog).

Then there is the lunar eclipse an month later.

I've been lurking quietly because I'm so completely new to all of this. I doubt I'll be able to pop in much with useful information, but I think I can add a few things to what you've already got:

The Blue Moon for 2007 (only one this year, according to my calendar) was May 31. (A Blue Moon is simply the second full moon in one month. They don't happen often, usually only once a year, hence the term "Once in a blue moon.") Can't find any evidence of another one occurring at all this year.

If Lycanthropy becomes a theme (as it looks like it well might), here are the important Lunar Dates for June/July 2007:
Mercury enters retrograde (appears to be traveling backwards in the sky) on June 16, exits July 10
Litha (Summer Solstice--Longest day of the year) is June 21
There is a full moon on June 30 (also known as the 'Wishing Moon' or 'Midsummer Moon')
Full Moon July 29th (8:49 pm, EDT) ***note: This moon, in addition to being called the 'Buck Moon' is also known as the 'Rogue Moon.'

Also: Mithra is the creator in a pagan pre-christian cult, usually referred to as Mithraism. Born on Dec. 25, he is an ally of the Sun (god of life and light, aka 'the good guy') and is locked in eternal battle against Ahriman, (god of death and darkness). He is directed by the Sun to slay a bull and when the bull's blood is spilled, humans are formed.

Don't know if this is worthwhile info or not, but I figured it was worth mentioning.
(And although I have only a basic idea of what a trout is, feel free, although I don't particularly like fish. Rolling Eyes )

Hi, Lacey!

You're not friendofpeeps on LJ, are you?

I sort of called Friendofpeeps evil (seriously, I thought friendofpeeps was another Eidolon manifestation!!), but I may have screwed up if friendofpeeps is a player and was only trying to help. eep. If that's the case, I'm really sorry!!

Dunce

Oh, goodness, no. Just your Friendly Neighborhood Pagan, giving her .02. I don't know enough about ARGs to play one, let alone work one! (And I've never even been on LiveJournal.) Very Happy

ETA: And when I say pagan, I don't mean Mithran! LOL

Kona,
Being that you seem to be extremely well versed in the ongoings of the Sammeeeees, I was hoping to get some help. There is so much that happened in the first portion, It is overwhelming. I would like to try and get involved in part 2. I was hoping you could fill me i on where I should pick up in the threads, as well as any contacts that I should make via email/myspace. My email is Tchechefpc SPLAT hotmail dot com. Any help from anyone would be appreciated.

Welcome to Sammeeeees, I know you addressed this to Kona, but hopefully this will help.

The best place to catch up would be both "Story so far" threads, Kona has done an amazing job at keeping those up to date with any relevant information.

Happies LJ recap is also a good grounding for the game:
http://happyrogers.livejournal.com/714.html

As far as making contact, that decision is entirely up to you, have a look at the correspondence that has gone on so far, if you are nervous about what to send to one of the characters, feel free to post your message ad we can share opinions.

Everyone is welcome to participate, we're glad to have you on board.

Full Moon

I'm wishy-washy about whether to post this or not, but would rather it not be relevant and post it than not post and have it mean something later:

Depending on what time zone you're in, the full moon in July will either land on the 29th or 30th. For those of us in the US, it will be in the evening hours of the 29th. (GMT: 12:48 pm, 7/30; EDT: 8:48 pm, 7/29, etc.)

Don't know what exactly will happen 3 days prior to this, but it could possibly change the date from the 27th to the 26th, depending on what time zone is the 'trigger.'

[Update] LJ HappyRogers

Thank you for all the warnings.

No worries. I did not go to the webpage. Thank you all for the warnings. And thank you too, Friend of Peeps, for watching my back. Now that I appear to be the target, I will need everyone to help keep an eye on Mr. Johnson's MYSPACE and whatever other postings he might put out there. But I think you guys better be careful too. I'm sure he'd be just as delighted to nab any of us that took away his precious Spoocheeeee. (Kona lock your doors!) Jayne and I have decided it is probably safer for us to not look at any of his postings. We have also decided that we will take turns checking on Ben. We will limit our time with him and we will not be spending the night there any longer.

The update on Ben is very good, as far as his heart is concerned. He's still in the intensive care unit but he should be moving back to a regular room in the next few days. The Doctors are more worried about his mental state at this point. Me too. He is still not responding to the world around him. We must find a way to bring him back. We will! Damn it!

Meanwhile, Jayne and I are going to paint the sator square onto the floor under our beds. Anything to keep this away. Please let us know if you have any other ideas on how to protect ourselves. I must admit we are both freaked out. I think I will be on the computer over the next couple hours searching for all things about Mithras and that weird square.
And I am still Happy!

A big SAMMEEEEE welcome to Lacey & EMTFIRE!

Yes, Happy's quick summary is great (the Cliffnotes). My SSF thread is a little more detailed (the full novel).

Love the extra information about the lunar cycles. The great thing about uF is the ability to share in the collective intelligence: Makes us all smarter as a group.

Please come into the #sammeeeees chat room if you get a chance. If you have irc, we're on the chat-solutions.org server. If you access via the java chat applet here on www.unfiction.com, just pick #sammeeeees as the entry room (or if you end up in #unfiction, just type /join #sammeeeees and you'll find us).

Glad to hear that Ben is out of the woods medically. And that Happy & Jayne got our warnings.

Is that latin or Catalan on MrAJ's site?

It is latin meaning "No Sameeeee is safe...from Eidolon"
