Methinks this game is going to be way above my particular head.

I thought I might be able to absorb the Lovecraft slant - given enough time and reading, but Lovecraft and HackerVirusStuff.... Shocked

I don't think there's enough time in the day...lol

Beings that my 2600 article dealt with RFID Technology, and I just happen to work with and use RFID tech in the Real World, I hit the link on the sentry site that talked about it.

Here's the quote:

Didn't there used to be some big issue with giving kids ID cards because of something like "THE MARK OF THE BEAST!" You know, the devil could figure out a good way to trace RFID...

Or is the devil already tracking us?

The mark of the beast 666 is vague, but might be of interest.

UPCs/EANs have also been called the Mark of the Beast because of similarities between their start/middle/end codes and their code for 6. RFIDs are starting to replace UPCs & EANs in some contexts.

Did anyone have anything with a barcode in their package? I can read the coding as I have a scanner here.

Actually the hacker stuff Isn't that far fetched... Remember you are dealing with weirdness, but it isn't that nuts.

If you want a direct correlation to hacking and Lovecraft, there is Dr. D., one of the many masks of Narlylathotep. Also there was a modern series of stories written called Cthulhu 2000 in which they retold a tale based on the origins: Pickman's Model, called Pickman's Modem.

Just think outside the box when it comes to Lovecraf, you will do fine. Besides, I doubt that the creators went very hardcore or in depth with very deep lovecraft influences. Just look at the normal references.

More then likely this could be for the Cthulhu movie that was supposed to come out with Tori Spelling.

Never underestimate the deviousness of an ARG Puppetmaster.

While typically, we, as players, tend to over overcomplicate/overanalyze the material, there are times when it goes the other way and we miss the ingenious layers designed into the experience.

Some Thoughts:

<wild>GetMeout's mention that he's only been eating Tuna fish along with the interest in Pondering the inevitable reminds me of the Shadow Over Innsmouth. What better to do when you're changing into a fish person than post on the internet?</speculation>

Also, for each of the people who a city as a location in their forum profile there's a Craigslist post that hasn't been tied to any package.
GetMEout is from Chapel Hill but there was a Raleigh post
HPhack is from Cambridge but there was a Boston post
Econjen could be New York Post or the Brooklyn post (location: Giant Red Delicious = The Big Apple).
MKaos is East Bay San Francisco post.
And Y2Kvetern and PoliticalTexan match with Boulder and the second Austin post respectively. If the Sentry Outpost is part of whatever Bast is predicting it makes sense that she'd try to get into contact with them.

Eeee! This is my first ARG. This is exciting.

She also did tell us to "TELL" the others. Up to this point I have wondered who the others are. Maybe we should start posting some of our findings on their forum. Such as the watercolor picture and some of the pages that we have. Maybe someone over there has some ideas or might know more. for all its worth, its at least worth a shot.

background image

hey I don't know if anyone has noticed this yet but I figured since the bseeingu.com's image index was open initially that sentryoutpost's might be too. it was and there was another image other than the logo jpg in there.

http://www.sentryoutpost.com/images/background.jpg

not sure what to make of it but figured I'd mention it.

just as a side note has anyone thought about seeing if anything is steged in any of the images? I know there are signs that images have been steged but some of the pictures have enough noise that it's possible. just some speculation

I photoshopped the image:
It's a lake with a bunch of trees in the front, some hills in the back and... Whoa, some kind of monolithic looking building behind(?) them, seeming to be stereoscopic imagery (red tint to the right of our b&w structure following the original "block" - the sentry tower?)

Any further wishes? Wink

Creepy, yet beautiful. The location in that photo's giving me Scottish vibes. Could be a castle or tower located on a loch. Of course due to the nature of this game, I first searched Loch Ness's Castle Urquhart. Also tried Loch Leven Castle and a few others. The image doesn't seem to match anything I've found yet exactly though. Could just be the matter of finding an image from the right angle.

This probably means nothing, but I also wanted to point out a difference between the member listings on the forum and wiki. Themagaician and Mkaos discuss this a bit here...

http://www.sentryoutpost.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=26

So far I've found that the wiki has 3 extra members, but I'm thinking they are just people registering on the wiki first and then having to reregister for the forum (or not registering there at all) since two of the extra members are registered here at UF as well (DanteIL and Mclare). There's one I'm not sure of though. The name is 'Gott sei dank', a german phrase which translates to 'Thank goodness' or "Thank god'. Anyone know if this member another one of us or no?
