Each column of blocks starting at the bottom left, with their orientations, where 1 is upright, 2 is top to the right, 3 is upside down and 4 is top to the left. I'm not entirely sure of H, I and O, but I matched them with the picture at http://www.oldfashionedblocks.com/abcsinglesdisplay.jpg

Just logging in to say that I have recently discovered this trail and have really enjoyed tackling it. I have now caught up with the blocks puzzle and can say that there are enough clues on this thread to get there.

Funnily enough the easier ones with fewer clues because people just rushed through them often caused me the most problems.

The one that seems to have most people stumped is the red chalk drawing. If I may add a further clue - the answer could have been 'vindaloo and rice' but isn't. I think that the correct way to get out of the loop is to use the same principle in the next puzzle.

As for the blocks puzzle - well, there are just so many of them, it is difficult to know where to start. I don't think the colours matter as each letter is always the same colour and the colours, in fact probably the images of the blocks, are taken from the set that someone found.

The sequence probably reads vertically, because the blocks get out of synch horizontally. What we are left with is 25 columns of letters and their orientations. To add something to the sum of knowledge, I will transcribe these and set them out in another post.

I think you are right in front of me .. If i read through the thread correctly. wait up.

LOL

I'm up to the page with the two photographs, one of the angel and one of a bunch of runes. I get that I'm supposed to decode the runes, but I can't seem to find a rune set that matches. Can someone direct me to a good page for rune translation?

I think I passed that page. If its the opne I am thinking of its a simple cryptoquip.

Got it, thanks! I was trying to get too fancy and find actual historical runes for it, not just decrypt the stupid thing. On to this girl with the tape on her mouth Shocked

(edit): and past her onto the roaches. Ugh, this one is going to take me awhile, I think.

well first of all its a substitution..
the letters you see are real letters.. the ones that look like symbols you have to figure out...

I guess that is as much as I am allowed to say in the open..
send me a PM for a better hint or the solve...

I could use a hint on the roaches puzzle. I know I'm supposed to look at the shapes they are making, but I'm just not seeing it. Can someone tell me if they are supposed to be making letters, or if it is some sort of picture, or what? I have about 18 sketches of roach trails on my desk, but none of them make any sense to me.

(edit): Got it! Thanks for the hint, tipsila

I think I found a possible split from the red-eyed girl page. I decoded the text and looked up the coordinates.

At first I thought it was indicating

the tower ravens and I put in a code related to ravens
which led me to a page with what looked like a ripped bit of a maze with a symbol in the middle and some runic type writing at the top and bottom.

Then, I wasn't sure if that was the right path, so I went back and put in the proper name of what the coordinates were pointing at, which led me to a page with a picture of a girl in a field, some runic writing, and a river running red. Now, from reading this thread, I think the river running red is the path most of you have taken and probably the correct one. Can anyone identify the first page I hit? Is it a known step and I just jumped further down the path, or did I find a new branch?

I think most of us went to the girl in the field. Go that way and catch up to the block puzzle and then you can be in torment with the rest of us Smile

Yeah, from the thread I saw that most people went the girl in the field way. I was just curious if anyone had found and followed this other branch, and if it went anywhere. From the sounds of it, if I can do an "end run" around the blocks puzzle, I'm going to!

Would you like a hint or two? I can PM you what tipsila told me, which was enough for me to puzzle out the answer.

If by "the maze" you mean, this picture http://ninthwavedesigns.typepad.com/photos/alchemy_notebook/artefact2.html

Most of us took that for a red herring. Its completely unchanged from that website. In fact, we found 2 or 3 other pages where grngecko used images from this site that were completely unchanged. After messing with them for a while, it was generally accepted that they were all red herrings. If you can figure out something different that gets around the blocks, please PM me. I'd be very interested to hear it.
