Dudes... we may have found aliens. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6589157.stm
If this pans out and is true, it will be the biggest news of any of our lifetimes. I'm so excited.

They're calling it an Earth-like planet , but Mars and other non-life-harboring planetoids are also defined as such, so let's not sell all our belongings and book the next intergalactic flight there just yet.
That being said...it certainly is exciting

I see the headline and think that maybe some strange DNA-like substance or unknown dead lifeform found......
Then read the article and it's about a planet 20 light years away that "may" have water?
Just another example that HEADLINES are never the whole story. Sigh.

Even better, it's about a planet, the existence of which has been deduced from erratic movement of it's sun. I'm amazed they have not yet deduced how many different sorts of grass grow on it's wavy green hills...

Hey, scientists have thought for quite a while that Europa, a moon of Jupiter, has water. And not just ice (which it has), but a full fledged ocean!
And considering that Europa is far closer than 20 light years, i think this might be a better chance for us

It's annoying as hell when people don't know when to use the apostrophe and when not to! If you say that this is just the internet, so you don't care, it's simply not applicable. If you're putting the apostrophe in, you're clearly trying to be correct. Somebody needs to teach these people...

So I am reading this thread and at the same time, on the local news, they are talking about this very story. Trippy.

You know, when you can write Dutch as well as Giskard can write English, then maybe you'll have an argument to stand on.
<sarcasm>Personally, I think it's annoying as hell for people to show very little netiquette when they are clearly trying to be correct. Somebody needs to teach these people that sometimes you just need to suck it up and realize that not everyone is as perfect as you are. </sarcasm>
