From the Utica post this:
Quote:
My mind races back to the little girl sitting alone on the steps and lost between pages. I scan the crowd hoping she's there, wishing she's not. I long to know whether she has survived whatever horrors found her. Something about her was so familiar. Perhaps I just relate to all girls sitting alone on library steps waiting for their mom to pick them up hours after the library closed.

She was different than the others here. She didn't feel the torment. She didn't know she was here. Maybe she wasn't. Can you imagine things in a dream?

refers us way back to April 25th and this post from indianapolis:

You: Sitting on the steps
Me: Across the street

I make my way up the street, greeting my neighbors as I pass. We each have our place. The man standing on the corner, the dog growling behind the fence, the old woman picking through the trash.

The girl is new.

Sitting on the library steps, her nose in a book. We all have our ways of escaping madness. This must be hers. I watch for a few minutes. She blinks and turns the page.

The boys on their skateboards race down the street. I pull the old woman out of the way. I do this every night.

I hear a scream.
I turn my head.

The girl is gone.

The dog's tag says Providence and she's called us Providence before, so yeah, it probably is meant to be us.

I also wonder if this is a clue to go back to the beginning. The first post was in Providence. Do we go back to the first posts because we're missing something? Or do we go back to Providence, the city?

Totally agree that the dog is us and we are REALLY missing something. It sounds like she's saying we keep trying to solve this with our usual methods and it's not going to work this time. Got to start thinking outside the box?

His eyes show that he's starved for attention and longs for that scratch behind the ears. As I continue to stand there, unmoved by his growls, he seems to understand. Maybe, just maybe, I'll give it to him. I stick out my hand as a gesture of friendship. Curious, but shy, he hesitates before sticking out his nose. I reach out and scratch his head. His tail begins to thump on the ground. If only he would explore more hands that were offered to him, he might get scratched behind the ears more often.

At least we seem to amuse her. So what haven't we tried? What other hands have been offered to us? The circled words? Something at Sentry Outpost we haven't picked up on yet?

This reminds me of an animal not a human drinking.

Also I agree about the dog, I kinda felt like she was praising us for finding the package.

I'm beginning to think that maybe this 9TB talk on SO isn't a story that's playing out, but a clue to something we're missing.

Not that I have any idea what that might be.

Going to have to go back and read these all over more carefully. Now seeing that the dog obviously means us, I'm thinking that most of the imagery she's describing is symbolic as well. Like the Moscow post talking about our color problems on the forum. Who is the man, the old woman and the girl?

Ooh good one. Isn't that the Prometheus Fountain?

Here's the full description of the dog:
Quote:
The dog behind the fence growls as I walk past. I pause, no longer afraid, and watch. As the world around him crumbled into chaos, he was left behind to fall into his own madness. The ground around him tells the story, he's walking in the same area he's always walked in. He's barking up the same tree he's always barked up - after squirrels that are no longer there. Like so many others, the dog copes with the chaos by doing what he's always done. And, like so many others, this leads deeper into the madness.

To me, this sounds like it could be referring to the Sentries. Suspicious, guarding something, growling at strangers yet starved for attention, barking after things that are no longer there....
