From Utica:

Quote:
The man inciting the riot is crying out in thirst of knowledge while ranting that it will do no good. Madness has taken its toll.

Could this refer to one of the Sentries? Possibly HPHack? Also, the word "mad" has been used before in association with the Sentry Outpost site.

Quote:
Driven by the confusion, you crash through the window and start throwing books out to the crowd. People trample each other hoping to get one. Covers are torn off, pages fly in the air.

Could this "window" mean something like a directory.. could the pages refer to pages on the website?

edit: I note that "looking at the window above" uses the word "window" four times. Also that something isn't "saved" I don't know where to go with this at all. But didn't one of the Sentries point out that the word "cave" was used several times in an earlier bunch of posts? Meaning that we should pay attention to repeated words?

Quote:
My mind races back to the little girl sitting alone on the steps and lost between pages.

Again - could these be pages on the site? Did BA find or know about extra stuff hidden on the Sentry Outtpost site?

Speaking of windows:

I think this one contains another reference to the dreams submitted by people. Again perhaps telling us our "plans" are going nowhere?

The Forgotten Angel?

EDIT: I meant Brooklyn, not the Bronx... oops Smile

I think I may be onto something...

Here are some quotes concerning the angel from CL:

Quote:

The Old Church

The stones line up one after another. Long since abandoned, it's the one place in the city that's sure to be empty. A place to think, to relax, to get away. A place where nobody will judge you. Old statues are scattered throughout, works of art appreciated only by the birds and me. I make my way towards the forgotten angel. Her features were weathered away long ago, her face pocked by the rain, her finger broken and lying on the ground.

The Forgotton Angel - w4m

It's hard not to appreciate the beauty here. The grounds ache for someone to care, but that hardly matters. Nature paints her own canvas and man just can not compete. As I wind my way through, on paths marked only by the absence of gravestones, I can see her trying to grab the moon. I watch as the moon dances just out of her reach.

I hear it from a distance knowing that, by the time I arrive, you'll be there. A shortcut through the graves, perhaps, showing no appreciation for the scenery that surrounds you. You walk around the statue to greet me, rubbing against her as you go. I watch as you walk towards me, stepping on her finger that lies broken on the ground. When I heard the scream, I couldn't help but wonder if it was her.

Your old house at the edge of the woods called to me. It always has. The gothic architecture has stood for generations. The iron gate didn't make a sound as I swung it open. I was wandering towards the back when I heard the first growl. Then another. Then another.

I was surrounded.

I heard the scraping of metal against metal. Someone shouted my name. I ran towards them. The hole was just big enough for me to crawl through.

She dropped the shovel and we ran.

I leave her there, broken, and wind my way through the stone lined paths. From this distance, I can see the crowd gathered around the old tower, their chants are nothing more than a muffled rhythm, a melodic hum that fits the mood of this place. We pass at the gate

The path to the angel is well-worn from my nightly visits. I sit on the ground and lean up against the cold stone base. Even from this low on the ground, the view is spectacular. Tangling vines envelope forgotten headstones creating hauntingly beautiful sculptures. The moonlight shimmers off the dew kissed leaves.

I look up at the sky. The faceless angel and her moon halo, her arm stretched high into the sky. Her broken finger rests just inches from my own. I ache for her.

The Angel in the mist - w4m

A heavy mist hung in the air, spilling through the iron fence, and meeting me at the road. I followed the path to the forgotten angel. The tangling vines hung over the stones, their leaves drooping under the weight of the air.

Her figure was just a shadow hidden in the midst with her outstretched hand trying to dig its way through. Drops of water condensed on her cold face, streaming down what was left of her cheeks.

I sat down on the ground by her feet and pulled out the rope that I gathered earlier. It wouldn't fix her, but it was a start. My eyes scanned the ground around me for her finger. All that they found was the dead grass on which it had laid.

My head fell into my hands and I wept. I wept with her.

I think she may be talking about the Minerva statue in Green-Wood Cemetery in the Bronx. She has her arm raised toward the sky, the view is excellent, and in the distance, you can see what looks like a tower: The Statue of Liberty. Compare the photos. The broken finger looks very similar to Minerva's index finger. Same bend and everything.

Rockefeller Center Plaza fountain? It is sunken.

Could she mean the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park?

http://www.centralparknyc.org/virtualpark/southend/bethesdaterrace

It is on a lower level so it probably isn't the sunken plaza. And I'm not sure what building it could be. But it is so pretty Wink

Yes I am gettting punchy here - all ideas and no substance! Maybe we need to post more on the in-game wiki.

We keep coming back to Green-Wood. Maybe it wouldn't hurt for someone to go check it out.

I agree with rose that there is definitely a "window" mini-theme to some of the CLs so far:

http://utica.craigslist.org/mis/327324227.html
Quote:
....Chaos is beginning to take over this sleepy little street. An angry crowd forms around the library, pounding on the locked windows and doors. The man inciting the riot is crying out in thirst of knowledge while ranting that it will do no good. Madness has taken its toll.

Driven by the confusion, you crash through the window and start throwing books out to the crowd. People trample each other hoping to get one. Covers are torn off, pages fly in the air....

http://caribbean.craigslist.org/mis/327330686.html
Quote:
...The building on the corner erupts into flames. Smoke pours from the windows. Panicked screams fill the air. As I approach, I can see a man at his computer his eyes locked onto the pixels pacing across the screen. He doesn't hear the screams. He doesn't smell the smoke. He doesn't feel the panic. He just sits there, engrossed in the game.

You run through the crowd screaming for your son. You hear his calls but you cannot find him. Someone points to a window above. "MOMMMMY!" The man on the street rushes in to save him. I grab your hand as we wait for the rare happy ending. Seconds turn into minutes. Minutes pass as if they're hours. The screaming stops. Flames burst from the window....

http://boulder.craigslist.org/mis/327587298.html
Quote:
...Fear has driven people into their homes. Each window becomes a screen into the lives lived in candlelit rooms. It's here that you can see the differences in people. Are they huddled in the corner or are they devising a plan, talking to those they know, testing their theories, and changing their destiny?

One window shows a table filled with cats. Another shows people buried under an avalanche of paper. Four? Five? Six? More? It's hard to tell. Are they struggling to get out from under it or are they hoping to hide there forever, buried under plans that lead nowhere.

You're standing at the window watching. Knowing what they're doing. An easy target. Waiting for you to strike.

I just found that Green Wood cemetery has catacombs that were open for public view on May 5th - we missed it. Somehow catacombs reminds me of her talking about caves.

I could go out to green-wood - but just FYI it is huge. It is something like 478 acres. I found a reference to the official historian o nthe page about tours on http://www.green-wood.com/

Jeff Richman is Green-Wood's official Historian and has been sharing his expertise on the Cemetery for the last 15 years. he might be the person to ask about the angel? Anyone willing to call or email him? I'm not usually shy, but I'm not sure what to say to him.

I thought this may be it too, but Minerva is a goddess not an angel.

From the descriptions, it sounds like her features have been worn away in Dreamland. It's possible that BA can't really tell what the statue was supposed to be, and assumed it was an angel. If the guy who got the finger could go to the cemetery, he should be able to verify if the finger matches exactly.

No kidding! I'm not sure going down there without knowing a bit more about what we're looking for would be a good idea. You could walk around there for hours; just to let you know from experience. It's gorgeous though.

And we've got a plethora of angels as candidates...

http://www.pbase.com/marchael/greenwood
http://www.fshk.net/greenwood/greenwood.html
http://www.mackayhistory.com/Green-Wood.html

So say we are being pushed to find this angel. Why? What would be our logical next step if we did find her? Maybe we need the name of whose grave she marks or what she is called. It seems that a lot of the more famous statues in the cemetery have proper names given to them.

[SPEC] Cthulhu worshippers at the Statue of Liberty?

From reading the listings, and if the Forgotten angel really is Minerva, then it follows that the "tower" is the Statue of Liberty:

Quote:
From this distance, I can see the crowd gathered around the old tower, their chants are nothing more than a muffled rhythm, a melodic hum that fits the mood of this place.

So, has the Statue of Liberty been converted into some sort of temple for an Old One? Hmmm...

How do you fill a table with cats? I mean can a table be filled? A table can also be an index. I liked Rose's spec that the pages being referred to might be hidden pages either on the SO site or maybe on B.A.'s site.

Hrm, what about the table here: http://www.sentryoutpost.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dream_Correlation

Lots of cats mentioned in that...

So is she talking about us working on the in-game wiki as well as sharing our dreams?

About Green-wood it does have lakes. Could this be the place she mentioned earlier? Also, it does have cats.
