q 27

For 27. The clue is written in an odd way "Here's one a little more cryptic". Could be something in the fact that 'sone is an anagram of nose. Maybe we are supposed to do something with here.

Cryptic could be a reference to the crossword method of using anagrams to solve the puzzle.

Also someone else noted that kopf is german for head so that might be the last word.

||N O S E| P ? ?| ? ? P F|

I'm thinking that maybe these are three lines from some well-known verse or something, and the letters are the first initial of each word:

N---- O------ S----- E----

P----- ?------ ?-----

?----- ?----- P------ F-------

what do y'all think?

Could be. If that was the case, then the missing letters could be "here" from the clue sentence - "here's one". The sone are used to make nose which leaves here.

You know

First thing I thought of when looking at the clue was that the "pipes" (vert lines) were either logical operators or pipe commands, but the context and syntax don't look right.

Interestingly, I found references to using the pipes in music notation. The examples in the link below look a lot like the clue, except the double pipes are on the opposite side. Anyone know much about music?

Another thought. pipes are used in authoring Wiki pages.

EDIT: Part of the example note string above rendered as a smiley! Deleted it.

i really hope somebody cracks this and helps up out i have spent about 16 hours on this in teh last 2 days it's doing my head in i have looked at music/notes but does not seem to fit i have looked at anagrams of nose then looked for other words to fit i have searched song/poems with the starting letters ie n o s e as first letters of first line in songs i have had the thought of kopf(head ) as the last word and tryed searching for 4 letter words that end in ko thinking that the letters from teh 4 ? may make a word only everything i have tryed has failed sofar i am starting to think that myself and others are reading way way to much into the answer and the clues given i am starting to think that none of us are going to get this without a new hint from teh author (fingers crossed) if anybody has anymore thoughts or idea i can try or a different way of thinking it would be great cause i am heading for teh crazy house lol good luck all

Floor 27: is it ROT-13 Music?

Taking the thought of the pipe as measures in music (we know AtionSong is a music buff from the previous several floors...) and looking at things as being more "cryptic", apply ROT-13 to the string:

|| A B F R | C ? ? | ? ? C S |

Now, this puts two letters well outside of what a note could be. So, maybe they are actually coding something else. A rest? A stop? Not sure. Or perhaps they are actually indicating different octaves: H => A, I => B, etc... Or we don't do the ROT13 and it's the same.

The goal then would be to fill in the missing notes to get the answer.

Hints from the author would be very much appreciated by all, I'm sure.

Just a thought is that we have been 'warned' that there are some false trails in this puzzle. Maybe the answer to Fllor 26 taht we have come up with is wrong and we have hit an unsolvable puzzle.

I tried the proposed ||ABFR| sequence previously described on the piano. There are too few "notes" (if that is what they are) to decipher a recognizable tune?

I was thinking that the double || meant something as well- the double bar at the end of sheet music determines the end of the song. Does that mean we should be reading the clue backwards at some point?

Think its strange that it's NOSE PXX XXPF? why are there only 3 letters in the second bit?

Hope someone cracks this soon. Wink
