No, I wasn't able to. No matter how many books I put on the circle, it wouldn't go down all the way. I'm trying to find something that could get the circle down the rest of the way, and then I intend to backtrack to the library to get the parchment.

Maybe a plant from the garden that was mentioned recently would be heavy enough....Oh and whomever has the dog should try getting it to go to it's real master...as in the Manse Master. BTW Love it's name.

I think I'm going to stop lurking and start playing.

Is there any object that could be truncated by Mr "Remove-A-Letter" to make it heavy enough?
Maybe you should get yourself a stand and a bag to become an authentic Indiana Jones? Wink

Did you try standing on it?

I only ask because I'm probably going to end up there soon and I don't want to duplicate. Smile

Just received an email back...I wanted to see if it had changed later on. It did a tiny bit...

Forgot to save original email *headhand* but it basically said 'Hi and when can I go to the house as well'.

My email back said:
Quote:

Sometimes, the ones who get through a maze the fastest are the ones that just sit back and listen. And if there's nothing to hear, you must first make others talk.

- Manse Master

Edit Could someone please make another map....I tried to draw it roughly but I'm kind of stuck as it's kind of a strange maze.

What would you like for a map? I've been editing the one on page two, so it should be current as of this post, let me know if I'm missing something.

I'm sort of questioning the directions in the southern direction, there was a mention of hallways in diagonal directions (north-west and south-west I believe)... Could you also label the glowing doors. Thanks.

Zazaban and battlecat....I just figured something out. Look at Cujo's dog collar, the clue was 'He has an odd dog tag with writing and something gold hanging off of it.' The gold I'm thinking was a key to one of the rooms we can't open yet.

I'm going to see if I can get anything else out of the Manse Master....

Just a thought is this just one person in the maze or will you see each other if you are in the same room. If the Manse Master is keeping track of where you are and you can see each other in the same room then why not get two people to meet in the library and one person stand on the circle thingy and one person get the parchment.

In any case it would be interesting to see if the Manse Master is treating this as a group in the maze or just one person

this looks interesting, i've read it from the beginning, i think i'll keep track on things here. First thought that popped up is that it has something of a Zelda-kind-of-dungeon. My guess:

the dog holds the key to that door, behind that door is something to get the parchement, something heavy, and we have to bring the parchement to the man in the bed. Knowing zelda games he gives you something that should grow the vegetables in the garden.

Someone told me a while ago that they were in the same room as me, so I don't think you can meet up with other players.

I'm in the kennels now, and am waiting on a request to examine the gold bit hanging off the tag. So we'll see what that is. Very Happy

Oh, and I originally interpreted the golden glow as the endgame, the outside world. Smile But I could be wrong. There seems to be a lot of gold glistening in that house at the moment, what with golden coins, golden glows and golden things on collars.

I did try standing on it, and while that may have done it, I couldn't reach the case from where I was standing.

So, here's the new bits.

Quote:
You quietly think your theories to yourself, then walk through the north-west door.

You enter a large bedroom. There is a large four-poster bed in the centre with majestic royal-blue cloth hanging off it. Laying on the bed is a man wearing deep red robes with an odd square hat on his head, also deep red. He doesn't notice you as you enter, or at least pretends not to.

There are some oak dressers scattered around the room with the drawers all pulled out and laying open empty. Out of the corner of your eye, you spot something glistening in the corner of the room.

Your move.

Esteed wrote:
I try to stay quiet and approach the glistening thing in the corner. If the guy hasn't noticed me yet, maybe I can get a look at this glistening thing before he does.

Quote:
You carefully move towards the corner of the room, avoiding the gaze of the man. You peer down to see what the glistening thing is - It's a coin with the number "10" etched in it.

Your move.

Esteed wrote:
I take the coin and slip it into my pocket. Then I move back towards the door and, once I'm there, I greet the man on the bed.

maby you should try and bribe the man? give him the coin, or place the coin on the circle in the library.

Quote:
You pocket the coin and move back towards the man.

You walk over to the man and say softly, "...Hello?..."

The man sits up and proclaims, in a loud voice, "Hello. You must not have met any of my brothers yet, I venture?"

Not thinking of anybody else like this that you've met, you respond, "No."

"We are the Smith family," he says. "Each one of us has been endowed with a magical power by the wizard of Lexia."

"What is your power?" you ask.

"I have the power to take one letter out of anything to turn it into something else. For example, if you bring me a crab, I can turn it into a cab. If you bring me tissue, I could turn it into an issue. I could turn a pear into par. However, I could not turn a candle into "candl", that doesn't form something new."

He stands silently, clearly finished with his speech.

Your move.

Esteed wrote:
I ask the man if he can tell me how to retrieve the parchment in the library.

Quote:
You say to the man, "Do you know how to get the parchment out of the library?"

The man looks around the room disinterested, and finally says, "It's not really that hard to get at it. Usually I just stand on the circle to get the glass off."

"I tried that," you protest "but it didn't go down far enough."

"Hmm..." he says, sizing you up. "I guess you're just too light. You must need a few more pounds."

Your move.

Noted, and now I'm going to try and use this opportunity to pump him for information about this wizard fellow.

Esteed wrote:
I thank the man for his advice and tell him I'll keep it in mind. I ask him if there is anyone else in this house besides the two of us, and I also ask him who the wizard of Lexia is.

I also find it funny that this guy could use his power to change his name from Smith to Sith and become an awesome wielder of the dark side of the force.

Quote:
"Thank you," you say.

He says, "Don't mention it," but you can tell he isn't really paying attention.

"Is there anybody else in this house besides us two?" you ask.

"My brothers are usually around somewhere," he says in a disconnected tone.

"Could you tell me who the wizard of Lexia is?" you continue.

"The wizard that granted me and my brothers our powers," he says, starting to get annoyed. "Do you have anything for me to change, or are you just going to keep asking questions?"

You remain silent.

Your move.

Seems the guy doesn't like to be asked questions, but he does seem willing to change stuff brought to him. Right now all I have is the coin, so I'm probably going to have to tell him no.

Esteed wrote:
I realize there's nothing more I can do right now, so I just bow my head to him, thank him for his time, apologize for bothering him, and tell him that I might be back later with something for him to change. Then I backtrack to the previous room and head for the north-east exit.

I think that brings me into the hallway with the plants. I'm going to see if I can pick (or otherwise take) any of the plants in that area.

Can he make change for the coin? I know he could get con out of it, but maybe it's a hint to actually exchange the 10 coin for lesser denominations.

Guess what? That gold shiny thing isn't a key. Smile

Quote:
You kneel down and read the writing on the dog tag:

Dog #314
HEALTH: Fairly Healthy
INTELLIGENCE: Very Responsive
NOTES: Only Responds to Breed Name

You then examine the gold thing. It appears to be another coin with "10" written on it. You pocket it. You now have 2 coins with "10" written on them.

Your move.

I'm going to try and persaude the dog to come with me now. I want a puppy! Very Happy

You return to the great hall, and then walk through the doorway to the north-east, but soon find that your passage is blocked by some ominous plants that have grown out of the walls.

You attempt to move through the foliage, but as you go farther, they suck up too much of the oxygen in the corridor, and you can no longer breathe. You are forced to move back. You attempt to rip through the plants, but they are too strong.

Your Move.

Quote:

You find yourself in a long hallway leading off to several different rooms.

There are doors to the south, south-west, north-west, north-east, and south-east, as well as an exit north to the room you just came from.

Your move.

Esteed wrote:

Quote:
You turn down the south-east hall, but before walking far, you immediately stop - the door to the next room is on fire! Interestingly, even though it's made of wood, it doesn't seem to burn away at all. At any rate, you're not going through this door while it's on fire, that's for sure.

You return to the hall.

Your move.
