The Necronomicon is a fictional book that is central to the Cthulhu Mythos. Interesting that the word ronomi is the center of the word necronomicon.

Thanks, missphinx and Rorschach. I'm still trying to get caught up here, but that one just kind of leapt off the page.

Hi
Just wondering
STuR... might it be for the Great Old One haSTuR ? (The king in Yellow or Him Who Is Not to be Named)
possibly a way to link this to the Lovecraft Mythos?

Not sure if it means anything, but there's now a pirate monkey on the top_graphic gif.
When viewed in notepad, the chars look Chinese. Not sure if this is just my computer settings or what, but other images on the site don't display like that...

Huh, I don't get anything wrong with the source when viewed in notepad (I just did a "View Source" from IE *shudder *). How are you getting the Chinese characters?

Do you mean you're actually seeing Chinese characters? Or that you're getting the same sort of funky display that those of us without Chinese fonts installed get when we view a page in Chinese?

Yeah, I didn't see much in Notepad either. I also opened it up in a Hex Editor and tried to uncamouflage it (without a password).
Came up with nothing for either one of those.

I'm just wondering if what he's seeing is actually what happens when you don't have an Arabic font installed, considering that there's been a bit of Arabic, or at least pseudo-Arabic.

I sort of see what Caterpillar means.
I downloaded the gifs from ronomi page and opened each one up in notepad example snipped from the start of logo.gif:
Code:
GIF89a6! T 沲˱ppp ՃϤ︸
Ȣʮyyy
ܧ
ݞڽ־ѹٳ̙fff ! T , 6! TT1DD1''"" "%QB51@@;ҳDQR.
Q@R#MM#Q3 'I?t,(@J'2P M;:x)O]"$ J )MȜI͙
Starts with GIF89a in plain text followed by data. The other gifs on the page (and others I've tried) look the same, except for top_graphic.gif (the pirate monkey):
Code:

No GIF89a text at the start and almost entirely unprintable characters. It does look different to other gifs as though it's encoded differently.

Bizarre. Do you have any idea why this would be so? I've never had anything like that happen when I've opened an image in a text editor.

That's a dead end, guys. It's just a quirk of notepad; there are some characters in there that are masking the GIF89a etc. If you have notepad ++ or some other similar viewer, you'll see what I mean.

No big deal, and no way for you to know, I'm only mentioning this because it's at least the third time I've been called a "he" - I'm a goily

Well that's good to know, just mentioned it because it's not something I've seen and it seemed weird that the other images looked the way I expected them to in Wordpad but pirate monkey did not. I even translated some of it, and although there were words/phrases, none of it seemed relevant or cohesive {waterfalls etc}
But why Chinese? If it's too complicated don't bother with it, I'm just curious.
