Uh, nothing incredible, that's for sure. I "googled" the island, it's group, and found it's capital city. Here is a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andaman_and_Nicobar_Islands

The location given is North Sentinal Island, surrounded by barrier reefs and home of the still isolated, primitive and hostile Sentinelese. As recently as last year they killed a couple fishermen with arrows for fishing off their reefs. I'm sure any actual pirate visit, if any, to the island was by a well-armed group. The Sentinelese are excellent bowmen.

mini hunt

Ok pirates…
Here's a mini treasure hunt to waste your time until Sentinel on May 11… The first to post the correct coordinates is the winner. (What do you win? Glory and Pride!)

On May 25, the Brethren of the Coast will gather to battle against this company (among others). Combine the name of this company with the type of practice that uses effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, compression and vibration. The resulting combination will give you the name of a company that was founded in 1731. The location of this company's founding is the city where you should search. Here, you'll find a company whose name means the combination of these two images:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/51/Eye_0012.jpg
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a5/Toiletpapier_%28Gobran111%29.jpg

The Lat/Lon coordinates of this company's main plant in the city indicated above is the answer to this treasure hunt.
The winner will get bonus points if s/he can determine the GMT offset of the coordinates.

Good luck.

Minihunt guess:

Lat: N 57º 43' 43.41"
Long: E 11º 51' 50.20"

GMT +1 (summertime that means +2 compared to "normal" GMT)

Ding, ding, ding... Right on target, CountryChick. And a very quick response.

Care to share your logic?

Wrong again
Nine digit coordinate

I thought for sure we were headed for a nine digit coordinate on this puzzle. Last year we had two puzzles with nine digits, we are headed in the right direction so maybe after this puzzle. We shall see.

P.S. Check out the bouy puzzle again.

Man in boat?

It's prolly a Sentinelese...dangerous dudes. From Wiki:

North Sentinel Island is home to a tribe of indigenous people, the Sentinelese, whose present numbers are estimated to be anywhere between 50 and 400 individuals. They reject any contact with other people and are among the last people to remain virtually untouched by modern civilisation. The local government has recently stated that they have no intention to interfere with the Sentinelese's lifestyle or habitat.

Although the island is likely to have suffered seriously from the effects of the December 2004 tsunami, the survival of the Sentinelese was confirmed when, some days after the event, an Indian government helicopter observed several of them, who fired arrows at the hovering aircraft to repel it.

So, YOU GO FIRST. Heh. Wink

A native from the general area, but not a Sentinelese. The man in the boat is wearing clothes, something the Sentinelese don't do.

Prolly much to the chagrin of the puzzlemasters....can you just HEAR the dialogue? This is a G rated Sentinelese. Heh.

Has anyone considered the Volvo Ocean Race (2008-2009)?
Can anything be extrapolated from this interesting parallel?

Oh WOW check it out!!! The Volvo Virtual Spectator!
This is SO cool!!!

http://www.volvooceanrace.org/gameanddownloads/virtualspectator/

CHECK OUT THE IMAGE!!! There's a team called, and I quote:
"Pirates of The Caribbean!" Look at the top right hand corner of the image!!!

http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/2505/clip0002jr8.jpg

Weather and everything! Friggin SUPER SUPER COOL!!!!

Volvo Car Corporation does exactly what it says on the tin: makes cars. In fact for this Volvo Ocean Race alone they have released three special edition models, the V70, XC70 and the XC90.

Johan Bexell, Sponsorship and Corporate Events Director of VCC, believes the common links between the Volvo Ocean Race and Volvo Car's core philosophy makes a commercial union between the two a logical choice. He said, "We believe it is good for the brand to be linked to the ocean race as it represents many of the attributes we try to represent with our products. The race is about adventure, excitement and performance and that is what we try to achieve with our products."

Pride and glory! Horray! Of course I'll share!

On May 25, the Brethren of the Coast will gather to battle against this company (among others).
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The East India Company

Combine the name of this company with the type of practice that uses effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, compression and vibration.

Swedish massage

The resulting combination will give you the name of a company that was founded in 1731.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Swedish East India Company

The location of this company's founding is the city where you should search.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Göteborg (Gothenburg), Sweden

A company whose name means the combination of these two images: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/51/Eye_0012.jpg
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a5/Toiletpapier_%28Gobran111%29.jpg
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Eye = I, toilet roll = Roll = I roll = (translated into latin) Volvo

The Lat/Lon coordinates of this company's main plant in the city indicated above is the answer to this treasure hunt.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
- Volvos mainplant is in Torslanda, Göteborg

The fact that I am Swedish probably made the hunt a lot easier for me, I already knew what Volvo meant and I also knew that the Swedish East India company was located in Göteborg and that the volvo headquarters are found there.

Thank you for putting the mini hunt together, I really enjoyed it!
