Potentially silly question: do you think it might be wise to alert Paul Denchfield to all of this? I was composing a letter to him relating to all of this with info on perplex city, V, and how to find the information about their plan, but...well, I'm not entirely convinced that we can trust him.

I think we have to trust him tbh, and I was thinking the exact same thing about alerting him, was just about to but if you are then I'll leave it to you Wink

Did anyone email Violet yet?

I was kind of expecting a blog update from her today to point out the obvious for us:

"Hey guys, great work! You should get your hands on some Radio 1 Big Weekend tickets and try to find out what is going on. I'm going to have Kurt do stuff with his key for me."

- Gee ... Thanks Violet.

I emailed Violet earlier today with all the websites and general info we have currently.

I noticed on Paul Denchfield's website people have been posting information on the comments about Perplex City etc. And he has a facebook group which has all the relevant websites and information on as well, so to be honest he'd have to be a bit daft not to have picked up on what's going on by now. And I don't think he's a bit daft. Laughing

...and I think trying to get something on the radio tonight would be fab. My friend listens to Sunday Surgery every week, and I'm sure it'd make her evening to hear something to do with Frozen Indigo Angel on air, especially since I told her this afternoon to listen out for it.

On that note, actually, she mentioned to me that there are regular radio ads for the Big Weekend on Radio 1 at the moment, and she wondered if there was anything in them that might be helpful for us. Anyone reckon we should get a copy from somewhere and have a listen?

As for 'Frozen Indigo Angel' itself, I can't help thinking that it's an anagram of something. I mean, come on, they're such random words... exactly the sort of thing that an anagram generator would spew out...

Having said that though, I've no idea what it's an anagram of. There's a lot of letters there, and my brain doesn't appear to have been in much of an anagramming mood these last couple of days! Laughing

EDIT: I am obviously allergic to going to sleep or something, and felt I should play with the anagram generator... Not sure I really found anything relevant, but a few of my favourite anagrams:

Quote:
A DENIZEN FOR OGLING
A FRIEND OGLING ZONE
ORDINAL NEON FEZ GIG
I GO NONFREEZING LAD
LAD FROZEN ON INI EGG

...oh I could do this all night... I must be avoiding revision or something... Laughing

Alrighty, I think I got a synopsis of all this mess.

The Apolyton Institute has been working on a "neural override" (mind control) machine, against ethical protocols. Some insider in the PXC Post has been screening hardware and/or data from Apolyton mail on the project to the not-even-remotely-dead 3P, with our old buddy Cyrus orchestrating the work. After long enough, they had whatever they needed to the transmit, Cyrus started bribing one Prakash Khan into worming the subliminal implant code (Frozen Indigo Angel) into regular BBC broadcasts, and over the heads of nearly everyone at the station.

Our new best friend Paul was the exception; he caught one of the plays after Prakash tampered with his work, and was eventually booted from his job for being found in his own work (or perhaps for asking too many questions). Rightfully miffed, he begins investigating BBCR1, and lo, the trigger is all over the place! He causes a stir as the findings go public, his employer threatens investigation (thinking it's still Paul's doing), and the FIA spots keep rolling in.

After a failed barge-in at the station, one of Paul's big informants and station insider "Jane Smith" leaves him the secret cellphone of her boss, Prakash. Before the return, Paul gets the phone bugged, clever lad he is. The messages show Khan getting antsy while the Executive (Cyrus) strong-arms him to get the show on the road. Meanwhile, "Alphabet of Brooke Shields" starts popping up (though appears to be unrelated as of yet), "Jane" freaks out to the point of shutting contact, Lucas Flaherty gets the same pink slip treatment as Paul, and a diagnostics page is found for an insertion program.

Quickly becoming a sore thumb, Paul's apartment is ransacked, likely by 3P operatives or thugs on their payroll, including an ominmous FIA sticker on a busted TV. Paul pushes on, eventually decipher a clue-pic left at the "crimescene", and decoding it to finally find out Khan's identity (and Myspace). Suddenly, Prakash buggers off on holiday, and "Jane" fills Paul in without a moment to spare.

And then the break. A green FIA file gets spotted in a Mills vodcast, which is why the 3P is going bananas. Paul and Jane finally face-to-face, and storm Prakash's office too late to find him... but in time to find mounds of FIA stickers, the smoking-gun green file, computer evidence of the data corruption, and a Go board in Braille pointing to the Silburn-Griggs Mine page. That's the 3P's cover for their own communication page.

Prakash has fled to Preston, where the 3P will try to complete their the master plan: to finish the mind control activation at the BBCR1 Big Weekend, using the not-very-suspecting music lovers as guinea pigs for the Apolyton work they've been scoping. Now, we have to solve the daily puzzles and win the Big Weekend tickets, go to the concert, and stop them from their diabolical scheme!

You're all welcome. Nighty night... Drool

The "subliminal implant code" hasn't been played on air yet, given by the last message on the hidden site.

Prakash Khan has left; he failed to have the primer signal air successfully on Tuesday. This is a problem, since it's required for activation of the override during the Big Weekend, but I have contingency plans to air it later. There are several more opportunities, right up until the festival itself.

I decided not to liquidate Prakash. I am confident he will not be a problem in the future, especially since he has taken a leave of absence. He knows the consequences of talking.

V

Well, I'm presuming thats what this means. (Actually I misread it, says primer signal, must be different things).

Do we have a list of those of us capable of actually attending the big weekend on the off chance that the puzzle solver can't actually make it?

I mean, not that I think I've got a chance at a first solve, but it couldn't hurt to know which of us are actually capable of making it to pick up the tickets/attend the event.

I e-mailed him as soon as we found out about the connection. I haven't heard anything from him, but then I'm sure that I wasn't the first person to get the info to him, so I'm not holding my breath.

I know that it has been discussed a little bit on the Fortean Times Message Board here (just in case anyone's interested and wants to do a bit of investigating)

Ooo could they have external implants (looking like earphones) or they could put subliminal messages in the music during the BBCRadioOne Big Day Out. Would someone please film it as I can't be there...wish I could. I'm off to watch the videos now...didn't have time to before.

It could be, but what would FIA stand for?

French Investigative Agency?
Friendly Iced Apples?
Fried Indian Additives?

...yeah, my brain's gone. Laughing

I was just thinking and remembered something about the 1 Big Weekend tickets this year, they have barcodes on them! Yes they will know exactly who has the tickes from V and who doesn't, they know who are at 1 Big Weekend and may be able to treat some people differently (eg. those who got tickets through V get sent somewhere different). This is all just spec but if you are interested check on wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_1%27s_Big_Weekend#Tickets

Scary thought eh? Wink
