[SPEC] Neural Override Project
What do we do?

So - what's going to happen on Saturday then? We have some details of a device that can "overriding and controlling high-level cognition among large,
heterogenous populations" (a bad thing), that it has been deployed at the Big Weekend in Preston, how far the deployment has got and some indication of when the final stages will be carried out.

We don't know why Quinton needs extra agents amongst the crowds (are we to perform some task to complete the experiment, or are we test subjects to be monitored). If we want to disrupt things, I think it's fairly clear what needs to be accomplished. On Davermouses compilation of the Apolyton image the box in the bottom right specifies that "the NOAS is higly redundant. Up to three satellite speakers can be inoperable and the activation signal will remain coherent, although it will operate with reduced efficiency."

I reckon we have to identify the four satellite speakers and deactivate them in some way. We will have a 230 m radius circle to cover, centred on the integration unit (maybe spotting where that is will help). When we do them might be critical, and we don't know what V wants us to do yet, the two things are likely to conflict.

Think this might take a bit of coordination - do we need to arrange to meet up when we arrive?

I think we need to come up with a meeting point for Saturday. Incase Mind Candy doesnt give us info on more structure.

I thik your right mikey But thats almost Half a kilometer across. Especially seeing as there is so much "stuff" going to be around. its gonna make our job more of a problem.

How about somehow using the frequencies to spot the satellites?

I think the frequency range listed on the speaker are sound frequencies rather than radio frequencies.

As the plans say, in Step 4: Activation, this correponds to low infrasonics to high ultrasonics.

yep the frequencies correspond to sound waves, 0.001Hz up to 30kHz

Having listened to Chris Moyles on Radio 1 recently and also been to several festivals last year i suspect there will be no evidence of "high-level cognition" over the course of the weekend, therefore i think we have little to worry about. A device that would surely work in Perplex City is unlikely to impinge on our love of beer and mind-bending chemicals. Shocked

Very true...I'll bring a bacofoil helmet and party five and my brain will remain intact (at least from external influence anyway).

Y'know, I wonder if this project of V's was a follow-up to the work on the Viard CD he did.

I'm guessing people sent the completed plans to Violet already. Wonder if Kurt's got any ideas.

Violet mentioned we'd be looking for symbols he'll leave for his agents.... eeek.

According to Violet's most recent post, Five Easy Steps, just look for the five pieces of hardware with Frozen Indigo Angel written on them and deactivate them.

Best case scenario: find the speakers (or whatever) that are labelled thusly, unplug them.

Worst case scenario: find the speakers (or whatever) that are labelled thusly, and come face to face with some mind bendingly complex puzzle that'll be required to shut the thing off.
