[META] PoTC 3 the Movie I just got back & have to say, the movie was great - if you go, be sure to stick around for a bit more story after all the credits run!
Now I want the soundtrack! That music is awesome!

Scares I was actually looking at the scar on Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat) to see if it looked like a symbol.

Okay saw the movie. Waayyyyy tooo long. Lost me in the middle. Plot was a little too thick and convoluted.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Did love the ending and the secret scene (AFTER the credits).
Too much violence for all the kids in the audience and NOT as much fun as the first one.
Don't know what they were talking about the music in the movie - what music?
And did anyone else notice the little kid (who got hung) at the beginning of the movie had braces? And was all that hanging REALLY necessary?
Where was the fun? Some humor but not as much.
And all of a sudden the kraken shows up dead? I mean really? Who's going to buy that the hoity-toity Lord Beckwith could command Davy Jones to kill his beloved pet????
And why did Elizabeth's father and Norrington have to die??? Not to mention the OTHER one??????
Wait for the DVD. Was a bit disappointed. Did not need to be 3 hours long!!!
EDIT: Spoiler tags added. --Phaedra

I haven't managed to stay until the after-credits part!
Can anybody describe it? (spoiled of course) because I really wonder =)
I liked the movie... pretty funny and complete... but god damn long... Are we goin' to wait the fourth one? Ten years would pass in the story... =)
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
... and where Elizabeth keeped that mortyr, she put off at Sao Fang's???
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I found the idea of parted map quite interesting... maybe we're going to have something like that in the final of the hunt??...

Just want to thank Phaedra for adding spoiler tag to my message commenting on the movie. Sorry about that - wasn't thinking. The message following mine was not nice and I also appreciated your edit of it.

PoTC-AWE Idea re film Have seen the film twice so far, and will probably see it several more times - too much to take in at one sitting.
Like the last movie, some scenes seem shorter/longer on repeat viewing, so for those of you who were disappointed, a second go will probably be better.
Everything about the 3rd movie was excellent - acting, casting, scenery, costumes, special effects, cinematography, dialogue, music - everything except the actual plot line. That was above average, but ... IMO it wouldn't have been that hard for them to have come up with better stories for all the characters.
My overall take: The first movie was a fairy tale based on a Disney ride, but the third movie felt more like a graphic novel (adult comic book) in tone.
They'll make a pile of $, but they would have made more if they'd kept it a fairy tale.
But who am I to complain? It's a great film, and I'll probably see it 6-8 more times at least.
The soundtrack is great too - just purchased that today.
So happy to be back playing these games - had gotten behind due to vacation. And thankful for these forums, to help me catch up!
