This seems like a big boring loop - is that what it's supposed to be?
I'm not trying to be a smartass, but all that excited waiting - and there isn't anything there really {other than basic CL stuff}.
I must be not understanding this properly - because there's got to be more than going down the stairs/elevator and meeting up at the fence with Providence?
Something new...
Is this a virtual world that must get built over time?
Do we just hang around hoping for B.A. or Chorazos to pop in?
Sorry if I sound cranky, just thought there'd be something to do once the MUD was up and running. And although I enjoy learning new things, this seems to be going more and more the tech "know-how" route, to which I can add a big goose egg.
/whine...lol
And maybe there is stuff to do and I'm just not understanding it? I've read up on what I can, but alot of the info I've found is game specific and the stuff that is universal hasn't helped me do anything but take an elevator and go west.
Can anyone familiar with the environment explain what they think might happen, or what we're supposed to be doing there? Can there be hidden stuff? Can you go north when the options presented are "in", "west" and "east"? Can you talk to the little girl, dig a hole of your own by the fence or pet the dog?

In case there's any of you who don't feel like wandering around in there, I created a quick walk through of what we have in the MUD world so far. I tried to eliminate any players and their created objects. I made it a separate file cause it's kinda long.
Walkthrough
So far there doesn't seem like there's much to do besides exit the building and walk west till we meet Providence. Are we supposed to build? I think we are going to need the wizards to unlock some exits if we are to do that. Leave items for BA? Exanor created a finger and we left it in Providence's yard just in case BA can enter this virtual world. You never know...
Rogi's wondering what would happen if we all parked ourselves on the 12th floor.
Also, here are the MUD stats as of last night at 1AM:
#Overall Statistics
Total objects: 157
Total things: 31
Total exits: 55
Total rooms: 41
Total players: 28
Total topics: 2
Total unused objects:
Total male objects: 8
Total female objects: 3
Total linkok objects: 1
Total jumpok objects: 3
Total sticky objects: 1
Total wizard objects: 6
Total builder objects: 28
Weirdly I only counted 26 rooms during my visit, but there are 41 listed.

oh yes. The owner of objects and exits can set certain variables. The main ones being the exits. As chorazos is the owner of these objects we cannot change them, so we need to 'attack' chorazos. Using something like the '@toad chorazos' command may release his objects for us to explore more.

Follow this link and create a user name and input a valid email address. Then check your email for your auto-password. Then you can log in.

Only wizards can toad though. Maybe that's why Icculus was so intent on giving as many people as possible the powers. Chorazos may show up again in game and we may literally have to do this (hoping he doesn't do it first!). But if all Chorazos' work is recycled, wouldn't the MUD world be destroyed aside from room #0?
For anyone who doesn't know what we are talking about:
Quote:
@toad
The @toad command is used to turn a character into a slimy toad (an inanimate object). The character's possessions are recycled if no recipient is specified to accept them. Only wizards can use this command. This command cannot be abbreviated.
@recycle
The @recycle command is used to recycle (destroy) an object, reclaiming the space to be reused by a new object. If the object contains other objects, they are immediately dropped. If the object is a room, room #0 is set as the new home of objects residing in the recycled room. If there are exits which lead to a recycled room, those exits are directed to room #0. @recycle cannot be used directly on players, but wizards can use @toad first to turn players into inanimate objects.
@recycle cannot be undone. Be sure you want to recycle the object. This command cannot be abbreviated.

If we toad Chorazos, we may never get information we might need to help (S)he/it. Our task may be to help them keep the Old Ones at bay and we may not want to jump to "bug squashing" right away.
Just a thought.

Not if you did @toad chorazos = jegger or somesuch. Then all of his work would be owned by me!

I'm playing around a little in this MUD. I've never done one before. I have a couple of questions:
1. Can we talk to each other? Because it looked like cissemac responded to a comment I made in the - whatever the space is called where the MUD happens.
2. Is EGo IG? If I click on that name it says "he looks lost and confused." If I click on anyone elses name it says "you see nothing special."
[edit] Hmm, now I can't log in. Are you supposed to "officially" log out somehow because I think I just closed the window. [/edit]

EGo is one of us (One of Us, One of Us). You can set your own description, similar to setting a "greet" message in IRC.
@describe me = clueless newbie, too
If we're ever online together, trying clicking on my name!

Yep, i responded to you You can talk to each other, whisper to each other, allsorts.
Im still new to this, I didnt know how to interact with anything, so I found this for another MUD game which helped me a little:
http://www.kahunamodus.de/kmudhelp.html
I think Ego is one of us, because you can set your own descriptions. For example I just set myself as Female, and I'm playing around with a description at the moment.

Just be sure to note that not all of the commands that are listed for other MUD's necessariy work as intended, if at all, in this PerlMUD we have running. I would suggest typing help and going through all of the commands one by one to see how they work and what you can do with them. You cannot break the MUD, so just have a go. If it all gets out of hand then a wizard can clear everything with one swift move of the fingers

Really? You can't break anything? I find that hard to believe. [skeptical]

mkaos is in the Mud - 13th floor for now.
We're about 75% confident it's Marie, but it could be an imposter.
She's asking if we have a map of the MUD.
