n00b question: How to describe World Without Oil?
A 30-second elevator pitch, please

So this is probably as lame of a question as possible and no trouts please, but "what is World Without Oil?" Or maybe more specifically, can someone explain WWO as a 30-second elevator pitch aimed at someone who doesn't know what ARGs are?

I have an extremely vague impression of what WWO is from the Argnetcast and from chatting with a few people on IRC. Yesterday, I went to the website for the first time and browsed around, but completely failed to get a feel for what it's all about. The "Mystified? Start Here" link at the top and "What's going on here" link at the bottom were somewhat helpful, but not much. I'd like to get involved and I'd like to get my non-ARGer friends involved, but that's difficult to do when you don't even understand enough yourself to explain it to someone else. So people can submit blog posts/pictures/video about how they are saving fossil fuels, and there's some kind of competition by region, and possibly a story hidden in there somewhere? Each region has meters for chaos, misery, and economy that come into play somehow. I don't understand. Halp.

There's certainly arg elements, but this is probably closer to a very large scale exercise in speculative/collaborative fiction. There's daily updates framing the current events of the day and in response 'players' are to submit their stories (blog/pictures/voice posts/movies/whatever, be creative) regarding how they're dealing with the events as well as putting forth ideas as to future events.

There's no competition by region, instead, they're tying in the unease and restlessness of a region by the amount of posts and activity in any given area. More posting/reporting from a region lowers the tension level as its indicitive of people taking an active part in managing the crisis.

Also, be aware that the game ends June 1.
