 Introductions

So, I joined the party late.

I perused the forum on Project Syzygy here, and everything seems so old, with most of the activity from March and April.

I just sent the email to the Curious address and they said that the game wouldn't underway until early 2005. As far as I could tell, there were still puzzles in the original pre-game, and potentially a second pre-game puzzle we never even touched (this assumption is based on comments by Dan and Adrian quoted in the thread below).

So, what I'd like to ask is if anyone has spent any time still working on this game, what happened to these unsolved puzzles and how much work exactly remains to be done before launch. Furthermore, since I joined unfiction as a Halo fanboy working on Bees and this game seems to be a much more demanding job, I'd appreciate if somebody could give me pointers beyond what's in the player guides and tutorials attached to this site. I'd like to be able to do as much as possible when this game gets underway.

Thanks for reading and letting me play.

Hey Noir, welcome, and good to have you on board!

The game was announced, publicity-wise, by Dan and Adrian in March/April, and we analysed the site for quite a bit, but afaik, there are no more puzzles/open leads at this moment and we're all waiting for Q1 2005 for the game to start.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for looking at the site/flash again, please post them here, so we can all take a look. You can also use the Search function to see if stuff you looked at has already been covered. The general thread has become a bit of a behemoth at so many pages, and can be a pain to wade through if you're just new and want to get up to speed quickly. There's no guide or summary for Syzygy yet, as not really much has happened since finding the rabbit-hole, although there a start of a guide by BrianEnigma.

<danhon> There are as yet still no breakthroughs in #syzygy

<danhon> There's a tree
<danhon> You should continue barking
...
12:37] <AdrianHon> Look guys, there is something you have missed
[12:38] <AdrianHon> In fact, two things you have missed
[12:38] <AdrianHon> But no doubt you will find them eventually
[12:38] <AdrianHon> One of them you have already seen, but brushed over
[12:38] <yanka> I am going to cry... again
[12:39] <AdrianHon> The other one is really obvious when you find it though
[12:39] <02colin> where does it lead?
[12:39] <yanka> haha
[12:39] <AdrianHon> To something very interesting
[12:39] <yanka> ok, things we brushed over: that "s" over the word "webs", the sound,
[12:40] <AdrianHon> To behind the curtain
[12:40] <AdrianHon> No
[12:40] <02colin> you need people to solve it because the people that solve it are the people that will create the game?
[12:40] <AdrianHon> brb
[12:40] <02colin> atm, its just two people
[12:40] <AdrianHon> No
[12:40] <AdrianHon> You know the game doesn't start until Q4. This is nothing new.
[12:40] <AdrianHon> We are going through the prologue
[12:41] <yanka> colin, are you going to post what he said (is saying)?
[12:41] <02colin> well i could
[12:41] <02colin> or i could solve it myself first
[12:41] <02colin>
[12:41] <yanka> hee. what other things have we brushed over?
[12:42] <02colin> i didn't really look at it properly
[12:42] <AdrianHon> Sigh
[12:42] <AdrianHon> I am disappointed by you guys
[12:42] <yanka> I have no doubt
[12:42] <AdrianHon> Direction. Alison. That's all I'm saying.
[12:42] <yanka> omg
[12:43] <02colin> that means something to you?
[12:43] <yanka> thank you!
[12:43] <yanka> not that I know what to do with it, but at least it's something concrete
[12:43] <yanka> colin: yes - it's something about alison.rtf
[12:43] <AdrianHon> The other thing will be very obvious in due course

---we try to work it out---

[13:12] <yanka> he said something earlier about this being pre-game stuff, if I'm not mistaken
[13:15] <AdrianHon> You are not
[13:15] <Lou|DVD> heh
[13:15] *** AdrianHon has left #syzygy (Leaving)
---accidently left the channel---
[13:16] *** AdrianHon has joined #syzygy
[13:17] <AdrianHon> As I was saying in #unfiction
[13:17] <AdrianHon> Sheesh guys, it is not that difficult
[13:17] <AdrianHon> Stop looking at the formatting, and look at the text
[13:17] <catherwood> 20c30 or something, i forget
[13:19] <yanka> 2oc3o:ptxt alison.rtf 02-Mar-2004 10:48
[13:19] <yanka> 2oc4o:ptxt alison.rtf 02-Mar-2004 15:08
[13:19] <catherwood> to oh see three oh
[13:19] <AdrianHon> OK
[13:19] <AdrianHon> Ignore the first one. That was a mistake.
[13:19] <catherwood> heehee
[13:19] <yanka> thanks again
[13:20] <yanka> I tried even tocto
[13:20] <AdrianHon> If you need any more clues, I will have to commit seppuku
[13:20] <catherwood> i tried to find a file called 2oc4o.ptxt
[13:20] <catherwood> iie, sensai
[13:20] <AdrianHon> It is not a file!
[13:20] <AdrianHon> The reason I am giving you these clues is because this is a minor puzzle. The bigger puzzle is still hidden.
[13:20] <catherwood> i didn't think so, just telling people what i tried (in error)
[13:21] <yanka> if it's not a file, it could be: directory, new site, login
[13:21] <AdrianHon> You need direction.
[13:21] <yanka> directory, then
[13:21] <catherwood> north south east west
[13:21] <AdrianHon> No
[13:21] <yanka> who - no?
[13:21] <AdrianHon> More abstract
[13:21] <catherwood> "stage left"
[13:22] <AdrianHon> Imaginary. Virtual direction, even.
[13:23] <AdrianHon> In any case, you'll love the next puzzle. It cost enough, in any case.
[13:23] <yanka> this reminds me of that last Dina's page solve
[13:24] <catherwood> 2o c 4o : pxt .... 2=p, o=t, c4=x, o=t
[13:25] <catherwood> some of us are just too leftbrained
[13:25] <catherwood> alison -> 2oc4o ... i would think there is some useful reason for the file name
[13:25] <yanka> to "oc" for "o"?
[13:26] <yanka> alison = 1 12 9 19 14
[13:26] <yanka> oops
[13:26] <AdrianHon> No
[13:27] <AdrianHon> Direction. Redirection.
[13:27] <AdrianHon> And now I am off to bed.
[13:27] <yanka> and that was wrong, anyway
[13:27] <catherwood> sleep well
[13:27] <yanka> good night. I hope you can sleep
[13:27] <yanka> we probably won't
[13:27] <AdrianHon> It is deceptively simple. Unlike the next one
[13:27] * AdrianHon cackles evilly
...

[09:53] <krystal> so since this new update has nothing to do with 2oc4o.ptxt i'm assuming then we are still missing out on something else?
[09:53] <AdrianHon> No, I would rather you forget about everything before this new puzzle
[09:53] <krystal> ok
[09:54] <AdrianHon> I'm sure it will all be explained in due course, but for now don't bother with it

Sorry to be contrary and to post such length, but from the above snippets of conversation and the decided lack of any further information from the original puzzle solves preceding these conversations, I'd have to say that there is still puzzle out there that we've missed.

Have the players gone into hiding for the time-being?

It's possible that something could have been missed, but I doubt it. Adrian is there hinting at two puzzles, an easy one and a harder one. My understanding is that the easy one was:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The changed Alison.rtf (with the bible passage and the numbers) leading people to marketing weekly.

and the hard one was:
Decoding the MD5 (I think) code, to get the e-mail address which lead to the e-mail conversation easter egg

I really doubt that Adrian would leave puzzles go this long without any activity on them, we would at least get a hint that there was a puzzle to be solved.

Of course I might be wrong...

Matt

If you read the long main thread - I know it's a hassle because it's a little extensive - or [search] for particular words that you're interested in, then you should see what happened to these puzzles.

If I remember correctly, Dan/Adrian have stated that there is nothing more to see yet. Of course, we could not believe them, but then we might just be digging a big hole looking for gold which isn't there.

Noir: Welcome! Let's see how this party goes when the fireworks begin...

Yuppers. Methinks all the prospectives are in a holding pattern for now, mainly running around and wading through a sea of trout in the Apiary game. Didnt see anyone get trouted in here, but in there....OHBOY...

Wishi: still on hold and waiting excitedly. Am still exploring the Godsend thing which appears a tad too involved for a simple advertising. I only explored 4 sites in there and a gigantic message board which I became a part ofd in human cloning. that is one to look into, am hoping it goes live as well. I emailed them, and it didnt bounce back like my first time...

Newbie :)

I'm sorry to be such an annoying newbie, and I'll probably be very little help when it comes to codes and such. Embarassed

However, PS sounds exciting, and I'm going to try to play along! Smile

I've read through several (bazillion) posts that have pretty much gotten me up to date, and I've even practiced along with some of the spoilers to see if I can understand how they were decoded. So maybe I won't be dead weight all of the time. Cool

Just wanted to step in and introduce myself as someone who hasn't a clue what she's doing, but hopes to enjoy every moment of it!

Same with me, Mokey!
I'm looking forward to it.

Also, very new

Well as long as this seems to be the "Hey I'm new" topic, I figured I would say hello also. I've been lurking around for a month or two now, only sort of following the I Love Bees stuff. I thought it would be fun to get in on something from the beginning, so I am definitely looking forward to starting this, and hopefully being able to contribute.

*waves down the bandwagon*

I'm new to all this as well, got a little involved (peripherally) in the Haunted Apiary - though I did have a go at getting to the London Axon with no success... Sad

Anyway, looking forward for PS to start!

Yeah, hi everyone, I'd like to officially announce myself as well.
I, like a lot of others, discovered the concept of ARG's with the mass publicity of ILB, and that game has revived an inquisitive nature that I haven't enjoyed since I entered higher education(and got more used to the grind, and doing mental work for superiors and not for myself.)

With the wrap-up of ILB on the way(I think?), I'm looking forward to game start, as it looks like this will be a fun one, and I'll be glad to join a game closer to its beginning than smack in the middle and struggling to catch up:P

Newbie grasping at straws

Ok, I guess the subject discribes me aptly. I have been checking out the site today, and I noticed on the Perplex City seal (on the letter, clicking on it takes you to the closeup shots) there is some latin which says roughly "first seek/gain wisdom" Hope that means something to one of you, and that I am not echoing anyone
