Just an FYI: Toy Fair is *not* open to the public - much like E3, but the entrance regs are stricter.

So color me jealous if you're going Smile

A new addition to the Mind Candy family - welcome to Jack Dixon: Graphic Designer!

Quote:
Jack started his own design company in early 2001, focusing on low key, localised projects. After the launch of his record label, Alaska Recordings, Jack decided to merge the record label and design company together, to provide an all round package for its artists. A year (and 6 nationwide releases) later, Alaska Design and Alaska Recordings parted ways, with Jack leaving the record label to pursue his design career. Alaska Design went on to be one of the largest alternative music design companies in the UK, having had work featured in over 25 magazines, radio and TV coverage as well as having work featured in the Design Museum of Atlanta.

After growing tired of the music industry, Jack set out for a new challenge entirely, and found his home at Mind Candy Design.

lovely, thanks for posting this. We look forward to seeing them all at the live event if not sooner. I did tell the Toy Tokyo people about the live event and they will be looking for Mind Candy at the Toy Fair as well.

new PPC question: will Dan Hon ever make it to New York?

Two new-ish additions to the Mind Candy fold revealed (new-ish, meaning, "some of you who attended PCAG London will probably recognise them from their sterling efforts that day Wink )

Quote:
HANNAH BORASTER
PUZZLE DESIGNER

With the need to be artistic and a desire to design, Hannah loved her time as a student in the West Country. This however lead to a chronic case of PDD (Post Degree Depression). There was only one option left, the saviour of modern life: 'Reality TV'. After seeing for herself the true 'reality' of this genre, she found her place at Mind Candy. Thankfully, they haven't held the television experience against her and she is allowed to come up with as many puzzles as she likes. Hobby and job in one; what else could you want (except chocolate)?

...and also, a man who I'm sure I spent some of the last Saturday morning crammed into a phonebox with....

Quote:
DAVID VARELA
WRITER

Given enough coffee, David Varela can write anything. He's written comedy, drama and horror for the BBC, musicals for cruise ships, award-winning short films, more award-winning short stories (available in English and Serbian), and some rather powerful plays. That's before we even start talking about his ad campaigns and websites. He's also been seen in the movie world hanging around with Richard Attenborough and Sandra Bullock.

Another writer...in addition to Naomi Alderman, whose book, "Disobedience" is now out in bookshops, and more puzzles! Welcome!

And Hannah, she's a lovely one. Very smiley and nice. Keen to get to know us players...

*jojojojo drunkedly introduced most of the players in the pub to Hannah last Saturday.

Yay for new people!!

Two more faces to add to the list of Mind Candy folk (one you might recgonise rather well Wink)

Quote:
OLLI LEIVERS
GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Olli likes art. At school she spent most of her time painting and drawing cool things, as well as acting and playing music whenever possible (P.S. showing off on stage). Throughout her brief encounter at Westminster University (two and a half years), she met Jack, became a member of Alaska Design and lived happily ever after. Well, until they got bored of the music industry and decided to dabble in new and more exciting things. Jack joined Mind Candy, and Olli started her own company: iliketodraw.net. This provided her with the opportunity to create lots of lovely hand crafted pieces, which was great, but when she was offered a chance to join the Mind Candy team, she gladly accepted. Now she gets to play Dead or Alive 4 on her lunch break and she loves it.

Quote:
JO CARTER
WEB DEVELOPER

Jo is living proof that playing games on the Internet sometimes really does pay off.

Having spent 5 years at the University of Nottingham, doing a BA (Hons) in Law with French (why?!) and an MSc in Computer Science, Jo has finally found her dream job. Not only does she get to program web pages all day, she is also able to design puzzles and see everything happen in Perplex City from the other side of the curtain.

yes our very own angelsk (Jo) has walked through the curtain. Very Happy
