Hey guys Smile

Long time lurker of the game (albeit I've been lurking ARGs in general since the days of ILB and Urban Hunt) and I guess it's time for me to actually start participating in an ARG as opposed to just sitting back and watching.

So, I've been following THP since ol' Wabonan solved the dilemma of Eric's pond water. Ultimate high fives for that Wabo Smile

Anyway, like a lot of you guys are finding out, I've recently received an email from our pal the Codemaster. My email is pretty much the same as everyone else except for the well placed italics in my post scriptum:

Quote:
p.s. - your patience is appreciated as the clock is wound...

Then there was the next email thereafter:

Quote:
Follow the leader Smile

smilebazookaSPLATyahoo.com

Hope that helps! Oh, and I'm really really terrible at puzzles but...I've got a lot of heart, presistence, and enthusiasm. Hooray! Very Happy

So I'll help out as best as I can. Cool

Edit: *forehead slap* I forgot to mention my email address is axery1SPLATyahoo.com -- hi Das Llama! Very Happy

At least I now there will be an ungame for me to plat while PXC fades away and YZ is paused.

Alright dudes, it looks like it's party time!!!!

You sent the solution on Jun 7, 2007 at 2:06 PM.

Just within 24 hours.

That is all the time you'll have to complete my task when phase two officially begins. Consider this a training exercise, with the goal being to create a team of individuals able to work together and respond to challenges nearly instantly - like the Army Special Forces, if you will. You'll need these skills for what's coming next, and what's coming next will only be harder.

So you're ready for "the big show" now?

That's rather brazen of you. You don't even know what "the big show" is yet. Well, in exchange for you efforts, I will give you some answers:

Phase two will begin in two videos, if all goes according to plan.

The first video, which is almost complete, will be about motive and recruitment.

The second video is when we strike.

The strike will last for a few weeks.

When it's over, some of you will need to put your shoes on.

And one more thing I want to address now:

I believe an individual calling himself Tom D. Cesear has been in contact with some of you. I've been trying to ignore this individual, but he refuses to go away. Let me state, for the record, that Tom D. Cesear is NOT me, he does NOT know anything about me, he does NOT know anything about my plans, he is simply a liar who wants to pretend he's a part of this and disseminate misinformation, and it would be in YOUR best interest, and Eric's best interest, to ignore him completely.

Codemaster Smile

p.s. - reading carefully is is a good thing

The only thing I noticed as far as the "read carefully" message is that he put is twice. But I was just wondering, did you email him that message "ehciinothtcwaetnntsyafwosurruho" or is that something he snuck in there?

no I didn't send that.

Unless it was something I said in the email that he encoded for some reason.

Kinda looks like it might be an anagram. Substitution would make sense if that clue is really surname, but without spaces I have no clue how to decode it. Also it's weird that he mentioned the Army Special Forces. I noticed on cipherclerk there is an army cipher but you need a key.

Something I noticed is that it looks a little bit like the missing X letters from Michael's letter.

This code: ehciinothtcwaetnntsyafwosurruho
X Letters: iieosecmmiitytlatilaeikehe

I tried using it to desteg the pictures but couldn't get it to work, but I only used JPhide so who knows.

So from his letter Tom D. Cesear is not him. That leaves either Sue or a split personality..... I even asked Michael if Eric could be gay... I thought maybe the CM's split personality was Sue and it messed up the CM in the head when he found out he was having sex with a guy. But Michael says Eric is straight. Tom D. Cesear has too much inside info not to be involved somehow.... and if it was a jack the CM would have addressed it along time ago... like in november...lol

Man, I am excited, but I am also hoping that the shit doesn't start to go down the second half of next week, because I will be in Austin then, and that would suck to miss it all.....

Of course I could bring the laptop with me. Most hotels have wifi these days, right? The only problem would be finding chances to drop by the forums and see what's up. arggggh

Man, I wish we had taken longer to complete the puzzle now since we'll only have 24 hours to complete the next test, lol.

I am really excited about Phase Two, though. Motive, recruitment, and "the strike." This is really awesome, considering this is really my first ARG to be a part of.

Oh, and licoricesniper, you should definitely be able to find a hotel with wifi in Austin (I assume Texas). I'm currently visiting my girlfriend in her hometown, which is in the middle of Iowa, and I'm staying in a Super 8, which obviously has wifi. If you can find wifi at a Super 8 in the middle of Iowa, you can find it at any hotel. Smile

Michael is getting nervous. I just woke up in the middle of the night and decided to see what was going on .... Michael was online on the FET forums and PMed me wanting to know what was going on.... I PMed him about the hostile takeover thing yesterday.... So I replied to him we aren't sure but his sight was the only hostile take over I could think of.... I told him to change all his passwords, use numbers caps and lowercases and to use the max chrs... plus I told him to change everything once a week to make it much harder to hack. I also told him he might want to make a blog just incase so we will have a place to contact him.

I wonder what he means by putting our shoes on? Is he hinting that some travel will be involved? Or maybe we'll need to put on some dancing shoes?

As for reading carefully, I also noticed a "you" instead of a "your"

Quote:

I guess it's just simple human error. I don't think he wants this reading carefully hint to turn into some grammar rodeo. Laughing

Anyway, I can't figure out what that gibberish is. I tried ROTing it but came up with nothing obvious. Anyway, my family is visiting for the next couple of weeks and so won't be active as much. I'll be checking at least once a day and really hope that the CM doesn't send out a puzzle that expires in 24 hours.

Eheh, makes me wish we just, ya know, sat on our hands with the puzzle for like another day or so. Ah well, c'est la vie! Cool
