"Work has become a bit tense lately. In a good way. Even Andrew was short with me a couple of times. He immediately apologized. It was weird, like he was so excited, he wasn't thinking straight. I think it's all the pressure and so much going on with his responsibilities. I wish I could write about it but I've had to sign non-disclosures, like everyone else. Pretty standard. Besides, it probably wouldn't be exciting for anyone who doesn't work there. Not really.

What's good about all the frenzy is that I'm working like mad, getting involved in almost everything Andrew's doing, just so that I'm up to speed. I think a promotion may be coming my way. It may come even before I get my PhD. Wouldn't that be sweet? It'd be nice to get some extra cash. I'm itching to do some serious shopping. I've been waiting for spring sales, but hell, I feel like splurging."

Applebee's are closing a portion of their company-owned restaurants. Winners will probably get a coupon toward their next visit to Applebee's.

Still, I got a kick out of running down the hints. Wink

todays answer is

Don't for the period

[edit - welcome to unFiction. Please use the SPOILER tag for any answers you want to post. However, please read the entire thread first. You will get Trout served to you when you repeat something that has already been posted (and the answer to 6/4/07 puzzle was posted this morning). Thanks - kona]

New Word

http://www.voicedailynews.com/word.php

The line in which the spokewoman says that the word Frobble will be a word that is "something that would be relevant and needed" makes me wonder if it is too an anagram or a password for something. I tried it out at the ihaveenemies website and it didn't work, so who knows.

It's not an anagram, there are no anagrams for it that make sense.. only "blob ref"

Spoilers

I also found this site "by accident" but I love these kinds of games and bookmarked the site. Don't read the spoilers (or the forum, for that matter) if you don't want to know... I don't care if I win a $1 gift certificate to Applebee's, I just think these kinds of games are fun. I hope the questions become more challenging than today's "coded message," or it will be easier than my daughter's Nancy Drew mysteries for the PC. But please keep up using the spoilers -- I'm learning a lot about how this stuff works!

Because this is what we do. We dig around looking for clues. If the PMs (puppet masters) didn't realize that their sites were corruptible, then that is their problem. By finding their weakness, the PMs are notified and they were able to rectify the situation. And they learn (so next time they won't pre-post anything until the puzzles go live - making better games in the future).

i happend on this site while researching for the game itself... I think the whole idea of it is just to have fun and figure it out. of course working together is great but to actually somehow manage to get stuff we arent even supposed to see yet makes me wonder if they wont disqualify people for knowing it or even using it's resources.

Welcome to unFiction! I hope you register and stick around (if you like puzzles, character interaction, and the world of Alternate Reality Games).
We also like the fun part about it. Come into the chat room sometime and join in. (irc.chat-solutions.org; #unfiction). Probably no way to disqualify anyone. Nothing in the rules say people can't post information, discuss the puzzles, or help eachother solve them.

So, don't worry about the spoilers. And if we can all remember to use them to cover up any answers, then you can avoid reading them if you don't want to be spoilered.

To add to what konamouse said, I would like to stress that no one has posted who actually kidnapped Andrew or where he is located (hidden behind spoilers or otherwise) in the UF forums--so people playing the game along with us can do so without worrying about having the ending ruined.

The spoilers are blocked out so people who want to play this on their own can do so while still enjoying the discussion on the forums.

Why

Hi guys,
This is my first time doing this, but I was just snooping around Voice Daily News under "POLICE RELEASE GOODIS RANSOM TAPE
Monday, Jun 4th 2007
and I came about this quote:

"CEO and President of Akarm, Grant Tenbrook, has praised Goodis as a valuable member of the company, saying he was "instrumental in the development of Freevira, our revolutionary cold vaccine." Freevira is due to be released to the public on June 20, 2007. "

My question is, if there is a recent tape of the kidnappers asking for randsom, (which means Andrew is still alive, plus the tape) why is the CEO referring to Andrew as "was". I thought the word "was" is in past-tense. I wonder what the CEO knows! Question

Does anyone else thinks it's a bit fishy that the CEO referres to Andrew as "was"; Andrew's disappearence was 2 weeks ago; and the release date of Freevira is almost the same date as when the abductors
are demanding the ransom money?

ALSO
FROM WHY

I also noticed that when I viewed Christina's video, I kept rewinding the part about when Andrew wrote, on a napkin, 'OUTLANDISH DUET TRAP" which means "Till Death Do Us Part". So I started writing down all the medicine's name backwards, and it was very interesting. This might be a clue also.

Just thought I would pass this along.

Question for everyone: Have you guys been getting the emails and texts? They show up for me on the side links, but I haven't received real emails or texts, is this just me? The only actual email I got was from Christina saying I got the puzzle right (which I got twice). It's not a big deal I was just curious...

Also, about the quote, I think the reason he used past tense when talking about Andrew was because the drug has already been developed. It is kind of awkward to say, "he is instrumental instrumental in the development of Freevira."

Welcome Nubiiaa. Stick around, register, and join us.

Regarding the "was". Andrew *was* part of the team that created the drug, the drug will be released, it's already developed so that being in the past tense is appropriate.

Regarding the Napkin Message. It's called an anagram. Move the letters around until they spell out different words. FREEVIRA has already been thrown into the generator and a couple of possibles have been suggested, like AIR FEVER or FAIR EVER. Try using this page to check out the other names: http://www.wordsmith.org/anagram/

I've had no problems with the emails or texts... Thus far I've gotten 1 text from the son that said he sent an email, one text from the wife that said I got the puzzle right, and an email a ong time ago confirming my registration.

In casually going through the Zandorel (company that owns Akarm) site, I found a number of adresses to buildings that they own... I've been trying to figure out if one of these is the cinema, but I'm coming up empty on that. It also says that they have not yet updated the "newly elected" boardmembers....so maybe one of them got mad that they were ousted out of the board and that the Akarm guy took his place and did the kidnapping? Ths is so much fun!
