Hehe apparently we aren't quite done helping Max afterall. Vjails has updated his blog with a new post.

http://vjails.blogspot.com/2007/07/been-while.html

So I guess we have to figure out what the "wrong places" means.

I'm going to be doing some more surfing then.

two thoughts

Maybe its another anagram?
I haven't found any reasonable one myself.
Another one, maybe a personals site? You know finding love in all the wrong places or something like that.

Vjails made a point of mentioning things were inverted (the spelling of guidance, the photo of Vigenere). Maybe we need to look for the opposite of the "the wrong places", like "the right places", or, even more opposite (?) "the right time"?

The other thing it reminded me of was that old saying "looking for love ... in all the wrong places".

Just brainstorming here.

Not sure what it means or what to do with it, but when vjails writes "which site would the wrong places be?", only
he wrong places is in italics. I've tried anagraming, but no luck so far.

Well glad to see there might be a revival of the game. I just checked every auction site I could think of for ihavefoundthekey, and nothing worked (ebay, yahoo, google, u-bid and many more).

So then on ebay I tried to search for Great Fire of London 1666. There are some hits there, but haven't checked them all out. I did notice though that there was a cd for sale with a band name of "New London Fire". So then I thought maybe the "wrong places
was Amazon - did a search for the band "New London Fire" at Amazon under music and did find some entries but have not had time to read all the comments.

EDITED - I noticed too, that there are many books on Amazon with the title "The Great Fire of London in 1666"

Apologies if it's been asked and answered already, but do we know who the guy in the "FindTheKey" picture is? And is anything hidden in that picture? I don't have the know-how to do that.

Photo
inverted

On Vjails blog he says "the other photo is of a bald man from.. the 18th century I guess? the picture seems inverted somehow."

I don't know if the identity of the photo means anything at all but thought I would invert it to see if I knew who it was. I do not know who it is or if it would be relavant, but here is the photo inverted:

Edited: deleted photo attachment - my attachment allotment was filled up

I don't know how to see if there is a code either in the photo, but maybe someone else does and will give it a try.

I just downloaded camoflage and will try it with a few different phrases but I never tried it before - so we will see.

bald man

Just throwing things out there - doing a search on google - "bald man from the 18th century", reveals that at that time people wore wigs to disguise their baldness. So is that a clue? Inverted again - this man is bald when people wore wigs at that time?

A RAG MAN
Fire Photo

How did we not see this before? Or did I miss the post somewhere?

Above the photo on the Great Fire Photo, on the Flickr website (under i.d. Max 1666) it says "A RAG MAN". I thought that looked like an anagram, so I put it through anagram software and yes! guess what the anagram is!

ANAGRAM

That's right, ANAGRAM is an anagram for A RAG MAN.

Did someone get this already?

The guy in the picture was previously identified as Vigenere, the exact photo appears in his Wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaise_de_Vigen%C3%A8re

The cypher on that page was a "Vigenere" cypher. I'm not sure why Viktor refers to him as 18th century, he was 16th century, but I guess he's pretending not to know & just guessing. I don't think there's anything new to be had from any of that.

And I'm pretty sure we'd already covered "A RAG MAN" = ANAGRAM earlier, that was pretty obvious, and an anagram was solved there.

I rechecked e-bay for the keys and for various suspicious maxprescrott accounts, and there's nothing on auction. I have no idea what site "the wrong places" is. Tried anagraming that, got nowhere. I went through Alexa's list of top100 web sites, figuring it should be something well known, but drew a blank.
