[NYC:Party] Bon voyage PPC. POSTPONED FOR TWO WEEKS June 30
Margaritas and mexican food [location pending but in Manhattan]

Anyone up for a drink and a Bon Voyage for Perplex City?

I asked Andrea Phillips when she would be able to meet with us in the city for drinks and dinner. She suggested that June 16th would work for her. So lets get together!

[Edit]Stickied - MikeyJ - Because parties are GOOD news!

So...

Is it going to be just me and Rose? Smile

And where do you want to have it?

lol, there were more people than that at the NYC PCAG weren't there?

You know I'd be there if I could Andrhia, but you'll be pleased to know that the Bianca obsession really doesn't run to plane flights Wink

Ah Bianca, Adieu! adieu! thy plaintive anthem fades.

Hi guys.

This morning I had an unavoidable conflict come up with the meeting tomorrow. I'm sorry but I have to reschedule.

I'm checking with Andrea about making this for two weeks from now.

Actually, this works better for me.
Though I can't make any promises, I might pop in. Smile

Actually a couple of people have said that two weeks from now works better for them. Silver linings. Smile

Andrea confirmed she can make it in two weeks. I know she will post something here when she can.

I hope the June 30 date doesn't conflict with July 4th plans. As July 4th is on Wednesday this year, I was thinking that fewer people might be away for the entire weekend.

Please post here and let us know if you are coming!

I think we need to have some Perplex City fun and prizes as well. I'm working on that. Smile

Woo. This will be fun! I hope all NYC area people can make it.

I have a stack of PPC cards, but they are all extra low level cards, I gave away all my good ones at this point.

I know that Andrea gets to bring her new baby with her. So she may or may not be able to stay late. (Babies are more than welcome to any event - so don't stay home because you don't have a sitter. Am I looking at Dave S? Wink )

We could possibly get tickets for Shakespeare in the Park but I would need people to wait in line with me ultra early, so that may not work. The Shakespeare in the Park is Romeo and Juliet, but each person has to wait in line to get two tickets per person.

I'll look around for some more ideas. Joebrent usually has some good ones.

(I had thought of us doing the Love's Labour's Lost in Central Park but it ends on June 24th. Link for anyone interested.)

As it turns out, the 30th works better for me, too. I wasn't really mentally prepared for anything yesterday. Smile

I'll be bringing the baby for sure, and possibly the rest of the family, as well. We'll be spending the earlier part of the day on a family trip to the Natural History Museum. Fun!

I'm going to be looking through my PXC stuff in the next week or so to see if I have anything I could bear to part with (or at least show off.) Hopefully I'll be able to come up with a few things to make the trip worthwhile... Receda School of Music business cards, anybody?

And... thanks, Rose, for working on organizing this. You're a gift!

My tips for going to the Natural History Museum:

consider buying tickets in advance on-line, the line to purchase tickets can be slow and filled with people trying to make up their minds whether they want to see an Imax show.

enter the museum through the entrance that is below the main steps, where the subway entrance is I (I think it is the F train there) . You can get into the museum that way, even if it looks like it will only take you to the subway, almost no one knows about that entrance and there is never a line. It may also be an employee entrance, but the last time I was there, we went in that way.

the food in the cafeteria is ok, but it gets crowded, you can leave the museum and return on the same day if you want to eat somewhere else.

One of my favorite objects in the Museum is the dinosaur footprints on the Glen Rose Trackway But there is so much to see. Have a great time!

PS if your older child gets tired there are several playgrounds in Central Park - north of the museum on 86th street and on 91st street.

So hey, where do you guys want to meet? We do need to decide a location, I guess. I'm voting for "family friendly, close to mass transit" and if possible, either nearish the midtown area (since I go in and out of Penn) or nearish Central Park, or someplace in between. But of course my convenience isn't the only thing going, here. Smile

I was thinking Mexican some place outside, but this heat wave has made me reconsider. I don't want to be completely unimaginative, but we have gone to the Korean barbecue place that jamesi found a few years ago for ARGFest.

I'm happy to go back there if everyone isn't tired of it.

Actually, there are a few Korean restaurants in that area. I don't actually remember which one we went to. But I suggest:

Kang Suh Restaurant
1250 Broadway, New York, NY - (212) 564-6845
at 32nd Street

I made the reservation for 6:00 for 10 people, but I can easily add to it. They said kids are fine.

I hope everyone can make it! I hope Korean Barbecue is ok for everyone, even though I feel totally unimaginative about choosing it.

On my way into the city now. I hope you all can make it... I've hunted up a few pieces of PXC swag that hopefully some of you don't have, and at least one you DEFINITELY don't have! Smile

See you tonight!
