Iris's email about phyllis and dale meeting

Pam,

I am sure that by now you will have read the emails both Phyllis and I
sent out in regards to the meeting she had with Wes today after she went
looking for Dale. I will admit to some small amount of satisfaction that my feelings on the matter have turned out to be the same as his! Wes was of a similar mind that Dale is not recalling anything that really happened, but rather recounting a dream, some sort of drug inspired fantasy, or perhaps this is one of those coping mechanisms that people develop to help them deal with things that their mind has trouble accepting. I believe Phyllis said he called it a stress or injury induced hallucination.

I hear Phyllis moving around upstairs and I think I will go and check
on her.

Iris

/me sneezes into hand, "bu..sh...t", goes & gets tissue then goes and washes hands.

Probably just trying to spare Phyllis's feelings...

So where are those emails Iris and Phyllis sent out? No one has posted an email about this subject here or at CD. I wonder who they sent them to? Or maybe Iris is hallucinating. She definitly seems different lately.

If any one would get one, Sunny would, because the numbered ones just can't touch her Wink So Sunny did you get an e-mail or two on the subject of Phyllis meeting with Dale? Or did the ether that is the internet claim them in tribute?

Sorry guys was away from my computer all afternoon

Dear Sunny,

I am glad you shared with me. You did the best you could to deliver bad news in a supportive way. We have made promises to each other to keep no secrets and you honored me by holding nothing back. I have no hard feelings against my dearest friend for fulfilling our pledge. You have been here for me when no one else was. You have made me smile through this nightmare. If anyone is to blame, it would be Dale himself but how can I find fault with a man who has been more victimized than myself?

Can you imagine how horrible this is for me? It is one thing to think of
Douglas suddenly being paralyzed by the action of some poison or to visualize him helpless on that woodland trail, contorted by the pain of heart failure. In both cases, I can think of him enduring moments of pain and then passing down the long tunnel to the white light Kubler-Ross has led us to expect. But, if what Dale described is true, then my husband died in a state of such terror and agony that I fear for his soul. Oh surely, whatever he did didn't make him deserving of such a death.

I searched in vain for Dale today. I tried knocking persistently on the doors of both Wes and Sam's houses. If he was inside either place, he didn't make a sound. I then tried Wes' shop and was amazed to find him there. We sat in his office in the back and I told him everything I have been told this morning. Instead of endorsing Dale's version of events, he shocked me by saying much the same thing that Iris has been saying to me this morning. He said that what Dale is remembering isn't necessarily real or accurate. It could be a stress or injury related hallucination. Or even a way for Dale's mind to deal with what he really did see. He assured me that Dale hadn't been refusing to answer my knocking. He is off somewhere trying to sort it all out – whatever that means.

So, dear friend, I learned nothing new despite trudging all over town. I am so tired, emotionally, mentally and physically. I have let many emails pile up in my inbox unacknowledged but I don't have the energy or the presence of mind to deal with them. I am sorry but this old girl feels like she needs a week of
sleep.

Love,
Phyllis

Email Iris about Wes and Phyllis

Dear Sunny,

Phyllis has just gone upstairs to rest. The poor woman looks as though she has been to hell and back and I would not blame her if she had a mental breakdown at this point.

Please do not take my words as being meant directly for you. I know you are a good friend of hers, but remember, I do not know any of you nearly as well as Phyllis does. You are not in this house so you do not see what I see. Perhaps that is why I am feeling I need to protect her, however futile that may be. I would never try to get between any of you and Phyllis, but can you not see how this all would look to me, someone not in your group? How would you react to this sort of news coming to an already fragile person you are, in essence, responsible for? Please, I meant no accusations; I was merely trying to express my emotions. I am human too and I would hope I am allowed to express what I am thinking and feeling.

I am glad that you are contacting Dr. Kendra. As Phyllis has probably told you by now, Wes agrees with me that there is something wrong with what Dale has told you. Perhaps the good Dr. can get to the bottom of this for us.

Again, please do not take insult. I merely wish you all had waited to see
whether what you were being told was true or not. I fear this added stress is just too much for Phyllis and I would have done anything to protect her from
any unnecessary hurt.

Iris
