Assuming it's the password you want help with:

The best hint I can give would be to really focus on the clue that states, "it is the beginning for one and the end for another". If you've figured out to what that clue is referring, then you know probably the answer...you just need to figure out the right way to write it. A more specific/direct clue is shown in spoiler code below.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Dates can be tricky...especially when there are conflicting styles.

Good luck! Smile

Ahh, yes indeed. It seems so obvious now! I tried just about everything other combination of which I could think before, but I got it now. On to puzzle #3! Thanks!

i was just wondering if there was any new news of the release date for puzzle seven, or is it still set for the end of summer?

No news. Nothing new from Family Games OR the Sacred Myths website. My local game/puzzle store has no new information.

Still hoping it materializes one day...

Equation Password
Equation password

I got these puzzles yesterday and from reading this forum, I see the password for 2 - The Equation has been a challenge. I understand that...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"the beginning on one and the end for another" refers to the death of Galileo Galilei and the birth of Isaac Newton, which was in in 1642 or 1643, depending on what date system you are using. The "it need not be new" clue indicates that the 'Old Style' should be used. I have tried 1642 and 1643 but neither worked.

Am I close? If so, what am I missing?

Thanks.

Ok, I finally dug out the Equation again. After trying for a week now I am still not one step closer to the solution. It seems though that some of you got an answer in the meantime. Could anyone please send me a message with the conclusive solution to this mystery? I'd like to move on in the series. Thanks!

The Serious Puzzles website is now listing it as available on 2/1/2011.

Another wait (and wait and wait) and see...

Not sure if anyone still read this, but...

I'm pretty sure chriswhitey had it all right about The Equation.

When I saw his implementation of the designs on the center piece of The Clue, (even before reading his spoilers) I knew immediately what had to fill that space.

"The placement of the 1st step of Davinci is the key to solving The Equation."

"Looking through will give you the formula for the password; it need not be new"

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So there you have it. The 4^2 6xPsub4 is unmistakenly in the center of the "first step" of The Clue placed with the pieces when arranged with "the Key" from center piece of The Clue. Also, you'll see that there are 5 remaining unused pieces (1/3 will be cast aside), and four of the five leftovers (1/4 of the whole, or 15 pieces + 1 base) corresponds to the distances to unlock the sliders in the Legends puzzle.

As for solving the password for The Equation...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
That 4^2 6xPsub4 was posited by several people to actually mean 1642 (it's 16 SPACE 6xPsub4 so presumably, Psub4 = 7 somehow, and we get 16 42), and for those who have solved the password here, you know all that's left is to add the "it need not be new" part to the year and you've got your answer.

This puzzle was EXTREMELY vague in what you actually needed to do, but I'm confident that this is the last bit of discussion we need to have on whether The Equation is fully solved or not. This picture is THE solution that leads you to both the password AND the solution of the next puzzle.

It all makes sense in a sort of, "Oh NOW I get it!" kind of way.

The ONLY loose end in my opinion is how the Psub4 part means 7. Everything else is pretty much wrapped in a bow.

Nice bit of reasoning, DinnertimeNinja.

Since we will likely never know the "official" solution... I think yours is a great one.

There is still that pesky Psub4 part.... but, hey... Smile

I have given up on the final chapter in this series ever being released... but it would be nice if someone from the company would at least post the "official" solutions somewhere. I think that would be swell.

The answer is: P represents the set of prime numbers.

P sub 1 (in print this would be P with the subscript 1) = 2
P sub 2 = 3
P sub 3 = 5
P sub 4 = 7
