LostEnvelope.com Looks like a trail... Yesterday a friend sent me a YouTube video of two flashing lightbulbs, mentioning a lost envelope.
Today I get a friend request on MySpace from a girl who has essentially nothing on her page except a story about finding an envelope with this web address in it.
http://www.lostenvelope.com
This is most likely a weird coincidence, but it certainly got my attention!
[edited to add] The website is a pretty flash site that leads you to Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/randle1/ then to YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gGmN3Sha80&NR [/edit]
The YouTube video is called
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
yellow shark
and is a responce to a video called
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
elephants on the moon
, which is incredibly dull unless its a secret code - which I guess it must be from all the weird replies under it.
Can anyone explain the flashing light code to me?

Ah! Maybe Viral marketing - good find!
The Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall
from the Harper Collins page on the book:
Quote:
Book Description
Eric Sanderson is jolted awake one morning to discover that he does not know who he is or where he is. All that he has to cling to is a series of letters and packages—which he is warned not to open—signed "with regret and hope" from the First Eric Sanderson. Attacked in his own home by a force he cannot see and memories he cannot ignore—including those of a perfect love now lost—Eric tears open the parcels and discovers he is being relentlessly pursued by a shark that may exist only in his mind, but which stalks him through the flows and streams of language and human interaction. Hunting the answers as he is hunted, Eric is led on a journey that will either bring the First Eric Sanderson back to life or destroy both Eric Sandersons forever.
A daring and unique novel that confronts readers with literary hieroglyphs as well as an intensely original story, The Raw Shark Texts plumbs the depths and dangers of language, the fluidity of memory and the bittersweet ripples of loss.
The Ludovician fish is a predator, a shark. It feeds on human memories and the intrinsic sense of self. Ludovicians are solitary, fiercely territorial and methodical hunters. A Ludovician might select an individual human being as its prey animal, and pursue and feed on that individual over the course of years, until that victim's memory and identity have been completely consumed. Sometimes, the target's body survives this ordeal and may go on to live a second twilight life after the original self and memories have been taken. In time, such a person may establish a 'bolt on' identity of their own, but the Ludovician will eventually catch the scent of this and return to complete its kill.
—from the raw shark texts

....- 4
--... 7
--... 7
---.. 8
..--- 2
..... 5
..... 5

0783 is a valid uk mobile phone (mine starts with this) but 0784 isn't.
The only other game I've played where you rang mobiles, there were answermachine messages at the end.
with this I either got engaged or a standard welcome to orange message.
hmmmm..... I got a bad feeling.

I went to the rawsharktexts site, wow that animation is so cool!
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I went to the lost cat page and emailled
eric.sandersonsplat rawsharktexts.com this message;
Dear Mr. Sanderson,
I believe I may have met your cat, however he was in Oxford and answered to the name Trevor.
Could it be that your cat is avoiding you?
Regards,
Mink
[edit] poking the shark in the eye gives you the book's cover. viewing the source shows that the website was build by viral marketing company smalloranges.com

There is a bit of a story in the lightbulb fragment page that says part one, suggesting that there are other parts to follow

I got a reply from Dr. Randle
Quote:
I appreciate this isn't easy for you. It must be terribly unsettling. You are doing very well though and you should try to relax if you can. The condition you have, well, I'm afraid it's quite unusual.
Mail me anytime, I'm here to help.
Dr Randle
Very strange since all I asked was how can i help
