Other possible poker hands if you go back often enough include two pair, flush, full house, four of a kind, and strait flush. But no straight!

The second question for me was: "How many cards can you hold in your hand without having a straight?"
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The answer is 44

Hmmm, after many tries I still can't pull up a straight. No matter.
Death in the family, sounds serious- hope it turns out not to be Joe Karr, I kind of liked him.

I think it's the same as 3 of a kind. you can have as many pairs as you want but the second you get 3 of a kind you end up with a full house.

Chapter 11 - Falling Down Underground presents us with a word search puzzle, delivered by Hatter.
The card names, numbers and suits are not what's important. There's a hidden message. Pay attention to what Hatter says.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
After 'folding what you have', you will see the message is:
THE PORTAL TO WONDERLAND WILL OPEN AT WWW DOT ALICE IS LOST DOT COM HATTER SHOULDVE TOLD YOU THE DATE
The title of the picture is 12 | ?
So, the date is December something, or in the European format, 12 October, November or December?

Date I don't think the domino identifies the date, since the dominoes are opposed to the pack. Not that I've figured out where it's hiding yet...

Need to find a double twelve set and see whats on the other half of a black (or is it blue or green?) twelve. If there are multiple numbers need to look elsewhere.

Hatter told her the date...
Here's everything that the Hatter said:
Quote:
"Oooh! Pardon me!"
"You?!"
"Well, why... looking for you! I wasn't sure how to find you; the directions were a bit unclear. Plus, I'm not around these parts often."
"Nothing from you... something for you. It's from Josephine."
"It would... um... yes, it would seem so. Weather's turning nasty, eh?" He has taken his watch out of his pocket, and is looking at it uneasily. He shakes it violently. "This accursed thing! Too much butter--"
"I have no idea... it's for you... I'm just the messenger... mes--... oh yes!... the messenger... and there's more! I am supposed to give you that envelope and... er... and tell you... oh, futz! what was I to say?"
"Oh yes, yes... I remember... deliver the envelope and tell you: 'In a game of cards, sometimes the only way to see the best hand is to fold what you have.' That's it... I think... indeed." He's slipped the watch back in his pocket. Taking your hands in his he looks at you again, his eyes are a bit jumpy.
"There, you have the envelope... you've got the message... I'm just the messenger. Now... it's raining! Best day to you!"

I know it's in every picture of the hatter. But could the paper on his hat indicate the date? Just a thought. Grasping at straws and all that. That would make it October 6th.
