My idea was correct. It fits exactly onto the London Underground Map, except that:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"Charcoal? could be black" is actually purple

and

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
One of the "purple"s is actually dark blue

Let me know if you want me to post the actual answer here.

My first First-Solve Smile

Excellent work Tomby, the most ironic thing is I see that map most days, and can walk to one of the stations in 20 mins, yet you're on the other side of the world and you were the one to make the link!!

Well i'm off to print out a large scale version of that map and find me the route. I'm thinking it may be harder than i'm expecting seeing as it's a silver an all. I shall probly be back later with me tail between me legs begging for a hint lol.

Oh and congrats on the first solve!!!!!

Good work tomby -- that sure went down fast! Also, don't forget the card is asking for the start and end points of the journey, not the entire route. I assume the red START and green END must be significant in answering that.

I wonder what the purpose is of the other elements on the card besides the colored numbers:
o The fireworks -- or did Jubilee officially open on New Years Day 2000?
o The water spots
o The varying heights of the white boxes in which the numbers were printed

I guess the answer is most likely "artistic design".

Wow, excellent find, and then excellent solve.
And an excellent card on Ollie's part.

My take on the other elements:

Red start and green end are important as they give the identity of the starting and ending stations.

The end station was a good place to watch London's Millenium fireworks. The Jubilee Extension was opened on December 20th 1999, just in time for the big night.

From memory the weather was pretty lousy on that night, and it may well have rained.

I may be on the other side of the world _now_, but from 1992-2000 I lived in London Smile

OK, so kie_yeo and myself have solved this (mentaly, not on pxc) and I must say this: If you google "london underground map" you will get a site that's near the top labeled as such. This is the >=1999 map. you will get stuck more than once. it is still possible to figure out, just more of a pain in the er...arse. Wink
