Sooooo.....this board is so quiet right now! Nothing more to say, I guess. The SMH husband site is not up anymore. Anybody know why? When'll we hear if we won or not?

The official rules state that around 6/27 we will get emailed. Guess they have some math to do. Hang in there.

morals of the story

goodness gracious....the thread has degenerated into a rant about the morals of one of the characters??????? how silly.

I suppose you think kidnapping, murder, theft etc are all okay for the virtuous Applebee's goers to be exposed to? Get a grip lady, it's a game. it's not real. and if it *were* real, then it would be rather accurately portraying stuff that happens in the real world.

Of course it has degenerated. Do you see an honest to goodness, been around the block a few times UF MEMBER posting? Guest, guest, guest, guest...boot, boot, boot. No recourse for their behavior, because there is no accountability. Which is why the mods generally LOCK these threads when the game is over. They tend to attract the loonies who can't quite let go of the game and get back to real life....and the smart alecks who have to post jabs no matter what. The folks that take ARG and ACTH as a dedicated hobby have already moved on. I only noticed it because I was going to read about another hunt, and this was the last page I visited here, so it came up first.

Phaedra, if you see this I'd like to *respectfully* request that you go back on your word and lock this thread anyway. It's not up to UF standards by any means.

On to the next hunt..... Wink

As long as we're getting on soapboxes... I suppose everyone's welcome to their opinion re: newcomers to ARGs, but may I respectfully remind you that you, too, were once a newbie? I came back to find the link that Phaedra posted to find other ARGs, since I had so much fun on the forum but wanted to find a more challenging game to try. Several "Boots" have intimated the same in earlier posts. SMH may not have been the most wonderful game, but one positive thing to come of it is the new awareness that some of us have about the existence of online ARGs. I heartily thank those gracious, helpful "Veterans", "Entrencheds" and so on who freely and patiently gave their advice, without judgment.

My post has nothing to do with rankings....newbies or otherwise. It has to do with the fact that at the end of the game the threads degenerate, almost without exception, because of folks who have no ties or inclination to respect the site or it's membership. "Guests" can cause trouble without reprisal because they have not registered within the site--for the most part.

I absolutely meant no disrespect to newly registered members and, you may note, never stated they were a part of the problem.

And, if I can remember back that far, I *was* once a newbie. And during the aftermath of the close of a hunt, all heck broke loose because I, a dreaded newbie, had won the contest. Boy howdy, did the cuckoos come out of the clock then. The gracious folks at Unfiction know the difference between a trouble causing lurker, and someone genuinely interested these games, and they have devised plans of action that work well to keep this community respectful and intact. Locking threads at the end of the game is one of them. It also keeps their servers from being filled up with useless drivvle. I was not implying they cut newbies out, I was imploring they use the usual method to keep some sense of class to the joint. I apologize, Sailor, if I didn't make that clear, and if it hurt your feelings. It was not my intent.

I was just a little ticked off to have to see icons mooning me and the dismissal of "morals" in the same post....in a well-respected ARG forum no less. It is precisely why I don't use Yahoo type clubs and forums. I come here to share and discuss facts, in an environment that is usually a lot more intellectual in nature. A sense of humor is one thing, but this isn't funny, it's just juvenile and a waste of UF bandwidth.

While I respect the respectfulness of your request, Sassy, Smile I don't think we're going to lock the thread. This is the one sort of off-topic/"social" thread we've allowed, and we wouldn't want to prevent people from enjoying post-game socializing, solidifying friendships, etc. since to a large extent in ARGs, the community is the game, and we don't want to stifle that.

But thank you for your kind words about Unfiction and its staff. Smile

mea culpa

sorry if my ill-considered comments irked anyone...except perhaps the person who I commented on. Shocked

no need to lock the thread. i'm sure most of us loonies will be gone soon. but if you were to search my posts, you'd see that I somewhere here had complimented the fact that the board was populated by such civilized, cool people. I've seen the other side of boards, and have no interest in being around them. i'm not in any yahoo groups. Surprised

don't know if I would have stayed anyway, as i have no real interest in arg's...yet...yet........but i'm sure i would feel exactly the same way if I did and had. (Though I might not have felt the need to comment).

so, we all get back to business as usual, and the world keeps turning...adios.... Smile

Have they ever said where the location was that Andrew was found at. If we knew that we would be able to tell if we are in the winners list or not. I haven't seen it posted yet.

As far as *I* could tell, before the main site went wonky, they did NOT post the location, just the name of the person responsible (Grant; but that they would accept Robert d/t the "technical error" with the fingerprints).

And way back near the beginning of the original trailhead, I posted the contest rules - I may have also included means to get a list of all the winners (send a SASE to yada yada yada) but never saw anywhere that they would post any winners list.

As for locking this thread? It's fun to see the social aspect after the game. Help folks find real ARGs to play. And answer questions.
After awhile, it will get archived (like many previous games). We'll continue to moderate as before, but don't see anything wrong with helping folks build the community (and welcome some new players).

I sorta had to laugh at the mooning icon. Laughing

Where Andrew was found

From savemyhusband site - which is still working for me. I had never seen the official rules, thanks to whoever posted them, thats what I was here for, to find out when we might know something. I got my answer... worried a bit because she specified spelling counted, I hope not capitalizing the street doesnt hurt me.

>>Day 8
This was the hardest for me. I was able to find that link on the Akarm site with all the fingerprints, so matching them to the murder weapon's print wasn't too bad. But I never thought to look back on the Zendorel website for the address where they were keeping Dad. The people that found this in time are not only clever, they're heroes!<<
