Thanks for transcribing it, CB. He was blowing up my phone while I was in transit. Frustrating as hell.

my pleasure

I forgot that you guys have your phones set to explode.

Anyways, elf archer and magician shows up as Baldur's gate....(which is also close to Dungeons & Dragons, The forgotten realms...) I am sorry that I am not geeky enough to have played any of those. (Red Alert, Starcraft and Diablo II were as geeky as I got.)

Wouldn't Karianne still be alive....maybe he is hinting that we should be searching for her? (IF I was following this).

I think it's more likely to have been tabletop gaming, not computer RPGs. hence the plastic figurine...it's an actual gamepiece...but to what set?

If we need to find Karianne, then that will be something that happens after we get this password.

I think the larger point is that each object symbolized something to AP. What the items represented is more important for deducing the password than what the objects actually are.

If you were following this, that is.

inventory

I may be a tad late with this, and it may not be the final version, but it's the one I have now. If there's a newer one at work, I'll post it tomorrow AM.

I hope there's some new and useful info in this.

most classic pencil/paper RPGs had paintble minis. IIRC, Gary Gygax started D&D by modding plastic dinosaurs into dragons, so table-top gaming and miniatures are simultaneuos developments. That said, that indian looks to be a non-RPG figure. I remember small plastice cowboys/indians that were just like the green army men, and that looks to be one of those indians.

ps, I;m just back from my mini-vacation in the nethers of FLA

Think so. But fantasy RPGs have a long tradition of just being paper and pencil, so unlike some of the other games like Warhammer, the plastic game pieces tend to be 3rd-party products. They aren't integral to the experience... Like instead of using vinyl maps, you'd just draw out the dungeon on a piece of graph paper as you explore it. And if you had something representing your character, it might have been a written description and possibly hand-drawn picture.

The fact that it's an archer is what's relevant, then, I guess...let's not get hung up just on the archer, tho.

Zizka, you from another part of FL or out of state? Should've swung by Djinn's offices.

Anyway, on page 71 of this thread are the images and a list of the items, so no need to go off-site. Very Happy

reading CB's list of items has reminded me od how/why I made the one I posted. That list is the starting point for mine--even has some directly pasted sections, but I researched a number of things (the "map" of DC, the unIDed coin, etc.) I could just paste it into the thread, but it's got some special formating Crying or Very sad

Actually, I'm not sure if coffee's quoted my list or I his, but the file I attached above has several unique pieces of info in it.

I told surf I may swing by the djinn offices on my way home, but I didn't want to burn the time on 275 when I could just bypass Tamp/St. Pete altogether--also I haven't the slightest idea where they keep themselves. . . also, also, maybe that'd be a tad stalkerie in a story of paranoia, etc Razz . I also really wante to hit the Dali museum--it's been years since I was there--but alas, I also really wanted to get back home (the panhandle). We were in Sarasota at a wedding at the Ringling Museum. We got to see loads of statuary, btu the museum, itsefl, was closed. All we could see was one *enourmous* Ruebens painting from about 150 feet away. It was still pretty staggeringly awesome.

Things to fix in the List Document: the stone sphere is most likely a polished ruby still in matrix/quartz. The archer, whatever it is, isn't dirty so much as painted. Gaming pieces were traditionally pewter, and it looks like the discoloration is coming from under a matte paint. Plus the piece has shiny spots. Even if it was a cowboy or Indian, I'm inclined to think it's more like a replica model than a cheap plastic toy.

The green thing could be malachite. It would make sense with AP coming from the SW. But haven't been able to confirm which of the many green/cupric minerals it is.

We think an alternative location for the business card's origin is somewhere in Alberta, given the map and his trips to Canada.

It's OK, I just would've wanted you to play some horrible 80s new wave or synthpop for them.

But let it be a lesson to you: avoid special formatting. Very Happy

It'll be nice to have extra eyes again. Bickering with Sebring is only entertaining for so long. The conversation inevitably takes a turn to the gutter just to avoid pondering how frustratingly clueless we are.

It's not my list
Zizka

It's probably your list. I don't know. I copied and pasted it (and said that I think) so, I'm not taking any credit for it. Mostly, I was letting the guys know that stuff was on page 56 on here.

Glad you're back ... Surf needed a third vote for something......

*ps

General Stuff:

Can I get Steven to talk to me again? Strongly doubt, last time didn't go very well and now he's moved or isn't returning my calls.

What if the face is not just looking at fed dbs. Sure they may just be privateers, but do we want them to be hijacking people's personal life savings? Have there been any reports of huge sums of money missing? Wasn't that an allegation with the original one? Can the face actually DO anything,or can it just see?

matius.wolf (skype, weird hours)
Is it worth trying to talk to him again? (maybe). How likely is it that he burned me in the first place? (50/50, maybe should rethink first point). Should I try to get his real name? (why bother). Should I send the poet after him (good idea, but no cash)
What kind of person calls hired muscle the poet?
Could anyone be a bigger Lothario than this guy? (doubtful, only guy to ever leave the Violet Danube with as much money as he went in with). Should find a woman to call him, he'd at least talk to her. Probably tell her everything.
Back burner. Doubt they are still in contact with him, if they ever were.

Really need to get to a town with a big library. Also need to find a good program to help with the crossref of all of fractal. Wish I could code. Software could help with the visualization. the connections.

Follow-up with Cathy in LA. Went OK last time we talked. I think she broke up with the councilman she was dating.

Mike (the poet - sheesh)
[phone number redacted]

Used the referral number from Matius left temp e-mail address. Mike wrote back so I guess it worked. All business (guess you have to be if you are in this business).

"Spoke" to Mike again, still not sure if I need him. Seems professional. Should ask Germain if he knows him (he'll laugh at the poet bit)

Surprised at how many people out here have fireworks. Should have remembered to get some. Some kids from down the path gave me a couple sparklers.

Found something while going through the manuscript the other night that I had had never really noticed before. "Tall Guy" in Oregon mentioned a draft executive order to review conditions of martial law. No citation, though. Sounds like old school NWO stuff, but he also mentioned 'Exigent Tribunal' - never heard of that one before.

Need to ask the guy in the Airstream to turn down the music after 10:00 pm.

I really need to talk to Germain, but why do all these ultra-libertarians have to be so intense. He makes me far too nervous. Can't prove that he's ever taken anyone out, but it's one of those things that wouldn't surprise me at all.

Sometimes you just get that feeling. I wonder if I've covered my tracks well enough.

A lot to process. Before getting to backstory, we need to decide how to approach Mike. We'll skip Matius. Sounds like a handler and that relationship already went south. We already have the reference number on the business card.

I think we tell Mike that someone who knew Allan Portman from SXSW in (2005? 2006?) got information that was of great concern. He went looking for Allan, but Allan had moved. The new resident subsequently died after the contact. We were recruited to locate Allan (PIs?) and found him, but only after he died under suspicious circumstances. There are 4 PIs on the case and we can be reached at the following email addresses....

Allan said to ask for Mike Raju Runoilija (...or Mike the Poet?) and tell you [numbers on the card]. Contact us at...(Sebring, make a new email address that forwards info to all of us). rubypebbleSPLATgmail.com, maybe.

We'll give the strikethrough'd text after Mike reaches out.

"Exigent Tribunal" translates to something like "Court Order" from the French.
