in regards to http://starrfirerecording.com/index.html , i think that is our allen. think about it. music was so important to him (according to the myspace page earlier). i'll stay on and research more, but i have to go soon.

Has this been posted before?
http://www.myspace.com/aportman

I don't think it is in game although he says "I love sequencing ambient electronica-based music."

The inclusion of moby in his bands list stands out as does the location, but there is very little else that looks promising. In fact, I noticed a punctuation error on his pics page that no professional writer, past or present would make: "My Better Halve's - Sharon & Starr." not sure this means to rule him out, but it's there.

There's another Portman on myspace who is involved in music, is in the miami area, i think, and lists photojournalism for a "Major daily" in Fayetteville, Arkansas. None of the fayeteville papers work with the band/song/prison clue, though.

mistake?

that could be a clue, or not but I don't think we should just rule him out because of that

The profile has blogs going back to march and makes no mention of anything else that seems too relevant. The punctuation error just kind of tipped the balance for me.

The other one I mentioned, the portman that says he worked at a paper. . .There is a Texarkana Daily or something of that sort; now REM has a song from the early 80s named Texarkana--it's on one of the first few albums, but how does REM = prison??? Myspace may be a blind alley.

I haven't had a chance to work on the song/paper, band/prison lead today, I'm still really liking Yazoo for band/prison. . .

just wondering
about tpetal

do we know tpetals actual name? if we dont, we can ask Douglas Bowman (the person from stopdesign) if he knows who the person was that ran the google booth at the 2006 SXSW festival. im not sure if knowing his name will help, but it might get us a little information on Larry

just a thought...unless im totally oblivious and they are the same person...

What should I ask Stopdesign?

What should I ask Stopdesign?
I have there number and am going to call them... But what do I ask them.
Please throw out questions we should ask so I can go through them.. I'm going to pick out the gems and social engineer a cover around what I'm asking.
Thanks Team Tradecraft
Cool

well...

it depends...do you want to be an organization or just one person? if you want to just contact him this once and aren't planning to again for a while, then i would say to contact him as one person. if you do that, say something like: "im wondering if you know who worked the google booth last year?" if he askes why, make up some innocent reason like you thought he looked familiar or you were going to tell his boss what a good job he did but never caught his name. thats just a thought. you should get someone elses opinion though....
if you want to be an organization.... what do you want to be? i dont think a huge agency would be the right thing to do... but again, a second opinion would be a good idea...
sorry for the paragraph.. Smile

Re: Second craft journal?
Gulma Inc Sundries

I was going back through some of the older stuff and was trying to find out some more information. I dont know if anyone ever brought this up but in the second you tube message he speaks of a sundries company across from a park in miami, fl. That company is called Gulma Inc. Sundries. There is something written on the awning that is part of a website.

Is anyone near Miami that can go to Gerry Curtis park and stand in the northwest corner viewing the building? Also if someone could call and ask them what is written on the awning their number is (305) 638-1756

We were working on the premis of KMQ - which has a yellow awning and someone drove down there to check it out already. I was not aware of another Sundries by the name of Gulma so I checked it out on the Florida State Business website, and yes sure enough there is a Gulma right on Gerry Curtis park too - I checked it on mapquest. Maybe someone who knows how to look on the google maps street level can find it.

The address listed for Gulma is
Gulma
2345 N W 21 TERR
MIAMI FL 33142
*******
The address for KMQ is
2391 NW 20 ST
MIAMI FL 33142 (already visited by volunteer)

uh... i dont really think the gulma thing is correct now...
the pm probably noticed we were stuck on kmq and changed the website. i doubt delving into that would produce any results. i might be qrong though...
also, why are you people ruling out people and sites because of the date? it might have taken a year or two to plan this ARG b4 putting it into motion.

im gonna go watch bleach

Sundries
Street View option

I rechecked both addresses and you can only use Google's street view option with one of the addresses. I would make sense that they would use the address that would allow viewing without needing to have them travel there as well as us. Very Happy Very Happy

Any headway on the band/paper thing?

band

There is a band called Sing Sing. It's a newer band (2001 release), but in the review for it....it said "they remind me of Depeche Mode" (80s). Depeche mode has a few songs that could be names of papers....
Pipeline, Kaleid, Satellite. Still looking.

getting nowhere

There are bands named Attica, Alcatraz, and Angora.....sigh

Attica and Alcatraz are from Yorkshire and Scotland, don't know if we can rule those out or not. Angora has little info, except the lead singer for them went on to be lead singer for Motley Crue. (John Corabi)

I think there isn't enough info, and how is this going to help us find Allen? It's a wild goose chase to nowhere. I'll keep looking if anyone thinks this is worth it.

I gave myself whiplash banging my head against my PC

I think this Paper/band thing is a dead end to be honest. The only way to really confirm what paper he worked for and vis a vis that he is the right Allen is to stumble onto an article that he wrote or stumble across him online and then get him to tell us which paper he worked for.

I think the Band/Song/Paper thing is on hold till we get more info!

Unless someone thinks of another way of getting info to progress the story I'm stumped atm.

HELP!!

Someone that has Microsoft Publisher installed on their computer needs to open http://www.4adora.com/ValveTRIM/Weartechs%20brochure.pub
This is the ONLY file on this web directory.

It's not a promising lead but it's a lead.
Theres a possibility that there might be user info and possible password info inside it.. probably not since allowing web access to a server is very BAD lol.
