librarything

I did a search on librarything.com for the names listed in t.petal's last blog entry and found this group on the site.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.librarything.com/groups/waughwodehousefriend

I think this might be the place he's talking about.

Okay, spoilers ho.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A Friend of the Waugh, Wodehouse & Friends group in Library Thing was called t.thorn! (t.petal = t.thorn, methinks) http://www.librarything.com/profile/t.thorn
and it's full of Bridehouse/Waugh stuff!

A lead? I think so!

On speculation about latest leads:
[SPEC]
Ok, I didn't know what "calyx" is. I see. That seems more clever than "thorn", I have to say.

But t.thorn has the dot after the 't', plus a whole group created yesterday. The people posting have highly established profiles and I doubt they know what's going on. Probably checked new groups and thought this one sounded intriguing.

Either one could be our guy. But I doubt both are.
[/SPEC]]

Uh, I didn't mean to edit this any more, but forgot to do post instead. Rolling Eyes

[edit - save spoiler tag for a puzzle solve - use other tags to show you are spec'ing or email you sent - kona]

I agree with Jaybird. Tcalyx seems to be a game-jack. Or just a huge coincidence.

in any event, the group seems to be the thing Very Happy

I love his response to being told that there are already groups for the authors he listed Razz

Library Thing Post
A Hidden Meaning

T.Thorn:

The only thing I ask is that you be polite and be very careful not to draw the attention of The Great Old Ones. I have placed wards to help keep us from inadvertently calling them with our academic discussions, but who knows how long those charms will hold.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Old_Ones

Im assuming thats a double entendre

Ok, here's for another piece of unbelievable coincidence...

I was looking at zizka's mapwork and zoomed in on Fort Marcy Park. There's a GE Community placemark next to it, leading to a post about Vince Foster's alleged suicide. Posted by someone called "overwatch".
check out the guy's posts

I really don't think this can be connected, because it dates back to '05, but how odd is that? Shocked

OOG information control, spying, and subterfuge

[OOG]We may need to spend a little time working out some OOG issues with out info sharing. I think that the addition of an in-forum, in-game mole added a fairly uniques and interesting dimension to the game, but it's presenting some real problems limiting the breadth of game play. I read a post or two on the Production Journal (http://overwatchjournal.blogspot.com/), and I
d hate to think that we are preventing people from joining in or even following the story. I have to admit that having even the OOG communications have one foot in game is pretty entertaining, but we probably can't keep it up. So we're faced with having to continue communicating in this forum and dealing with (rather than preventing) information leaks from a UF member or members.

At this point, as far as I know, all of the information has been posted publically.[/OOG]

Could indicate the site is safe from OIS spying. Could also be a hint about the focus of OSPREY/FRACTAL.

Quite the coincidence. On the one hand, the date seems to be far back for the game now; on the other, the collateral files first start in '05.

[SPEC]Reasons I think tthorn's group is the legit one: his page makes particular mention of birds of prey. Ospreys are birds of prey. Plus the references to Poe.

TCalyx didn't provide anything except the Brideshead reference. Doesn't seem to match tpetal's style.[/SPEC]

One of the authors listed on the LT group is E.M. Forster, author of A Passage to India. Coincidence that the newspaper post was about a city in India?

The site also makes mention of Wodehouse and particularly his character Jeeves, a valet. The character takes meticulous notes about the wrongdoing of his employer. That way if Jeeves ever leaves his employer, he can warn other butlers about that work. Confirmation that tpetal probably works/worked for OIS and/or OSPREY/FRACTAL?

Jeeves' notes ran for 19 pages. Should we expect another 9 pieces of collateral?

[edit - save spoiler tag for puzzle solves, not spec - kona]

I guess it might be the origin of the name. Otherwise, that's a million in one shot. Happens, though.

This is considered a spoiler, because it's taken from Meta:
[META/SPEC]
I doubt it. I think act 1 - or Job 1 as they call it - is soon to start, according to the production diary. It doesn't sound like there's a lot left after a file that isn't even last among those we already got (would have to search for the exact number).
Well, either job 1 starts soon or the prelude just ends and then we got a break.
[/SPEC]
And yes, it is spec, but I figured some people might be mad at me if I don't spoiler the basis for my spec.

Hi

Check your INBOX please.
From letter frequency counts I've noticed that the number 34 is kind of an oddball number in a 26 letter alphabet. 34 could be an actual number meaning some kind of rotational crypto pattern.
Besides that the frequencies seem normal for the english language.
Still working on it..

hope to see your messages in my Inbox soon
