I actually have some knowledge about cyphers, but....

For a cypher that was intended to be solved by people trying to crack it but NOT by the casual observer I think this was is either simpler than we are making it out to be OR its so complex and layered that we aren't going to solve it. I've been able to figure out at least 5 ways of making it say something intelligible but have not yet had it do so with out at least 4 steps involved..
So, I think I'm back to just following the story and playing bit parts when needed. Coffeebean, get that pile of paper ready. I'll bring the matches and Advil. Without another clue I'm done with deciphering the second letter.

It is nice to see another audio =)..
It almost seems like JThalberg was foreshadowing certain doom.
Also noticed FoF has an update but no post and no password box..
From FoF "The Forth Protocol."
There is a spy novel named Fourth Protocol sometimes misspelled Forth and some references to back and forth protocols but I cant find anything else that matches in anyway.

Someone has collected the files and will post a summary at the site linked to in my signature.

updated

I updated the site: but I am concerned about posting the emails there. That is fair territory for Green/whoever wants them. Tpetal is already peeved about having used emails with known nicks? So tell me to pull those down or what to do with them?

I am thinking I should make a new site, that doesn't have my name on it?

I am not sure this game is going to progress much further. And after reading all the emails (thanks for sending them, zizka & surf) it is extremely obvious why no one else can follow along. My suspicions about Perfidy have also been confirmed. I had no luck in attaching files here....but I shall try again.

Attached "should" be emails that surfzone provided. I shortened it as much as I could, and omitted everyone's names/emails. (If I missed any, let me know)

here goes nothing.......

According to the last email...t.thorn's email said he would contact Perfidy...

Has anyone seen that email? Or know what it was about?

people

I think I confused a few people(and myself)..

Tell me if this is right:

tpetal(blogspot.com) = tcalyx(maybe an imposter)(Librarything.com) = t.thorn(librarything.com/talktopic) = royalthames (twitter.com)

germain(focusonfilm.wordpress.com) = pete hutchens (freewebs.com/heavenisasecret)

?

aka

ok...

then who is Larry? tpetal said larry/sxsw2006/hat... then later, he also referred to Allen wearing a hat... then lately on twitter....he was afraid of people wearing hats......

So, is Larry aka Allen ? Or tpetal has a strange problem with hats?

** one note about the peacock ** someone (and I am not going back five pages to find who) was wondering about the story about a man sitting in a tree talking to a peacock... because of the recently surfaced emails, I think the peacock was just a reference to Bird Watchers. (or non-flying birds is what tpetal said to refer to at beginning of communications with him)

**we still need to know about Mike the Poet (the name MIKE can be found on the crypt2, below the D with dot)

Just throwing out stuff that we need to clear up...

aliases

Emails: Coffee, as long as your website is not indexed by search engines and you only post the URL in here, we can consider it a secure site. So host whatever you'd like on it.

Aliases: Germain isn't necessarily Pete.

Petal was looking for Allen (on the KMQ site, when he referred to Larry, I think he was really talking about Allen). Petal told us Allen did freelance work for Heaven is a Secret. We contacted Karla, one of the editors of HiaS. She told us she didn't know Allen's location, but her co-editor, Pete, might. So using information provided by Petal, we proved to her that she could trust us with Pete's contact information. Pete put us in touch with Germain; who may be Pete, but maybe not.

Mike the Poet: we have that business card with what seems to be a phone number located in Finland. The words above the number are in Finnish for some kind of poet.

Basically, we have no idea who anyone is except for Green.

And we really have no idea what anyone's motives are.

Link
That's the summary up until 7/18.

my very last attempt at solving code

I applied all the numbers to each starting letter with a dot. (-2 across, +5 down,-3 across, etc..)

Using the dots as nothing more than a starting point (not three different words)

I get these letters:

DTKROUNYCCE

which can make a few words

DOCK CENTURY
DECK COUNTRY

(very close to spelling Red Kentucky....)(and can spell a few bad words too )
So maybe someone else wants to try again?

Regarding Larry, Allen and hats...

The confusion originates from a chat log with t.petal. One of us made the false claim that Allen wears hats. It's Larry, not Allen. T.petal however, confirmed it, which was a mistake. This easily happens when you have a fast chat and one of you does not pay attention.
But I'm pretty sure it was a slip-up.

Larry is a real guy, managing those SxSW events from what I understand. Several people here wanted to pursue him and bother him, although he was just put into this game for added flavor, to add more realism. I doubt that he would know what we want from him, if someone were to contact him. It's just that he is very easily found in connection to SxSW. That's all about that.

A misunderstanding. Like many concerning this game, unfortunately.

The production diary documents them being busy producing. I guess a move from our side is expected. But to be honest, I have no idea which move that is. Confused
And I'm running short on time at the moment. But I'm not officially in this any more, anyway. Razz
Not that I ever did something to move it...

despoiler.org
new site

Not sure if anyone saw the main page here at UF. This looks like something that we could have benefitted from earlier.

www.despoiler.org

Unfiction is proud to announce the launch of Despoiler.org, a sister site dedicated to releasing information into wild. It will, of course, be focused on the Alternate Reality Gaming and Chaotic Fiction communities and will provide free wiki resources for their pursuits. Wikis may be requested via a contact form on the site and usage will be subject to a modified version of the terms of service that have worked quite well so far on our own forums.

One wiki has already been created and seeded for those of you following the Golden Jigsaw puzzle.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every so often, a campaign comes along that either by design or by accident pits players against each other in a battle to keep their information secret. Since this dynamic runs quite counter to the Unfiction norm, in the end it mainly causes trouble for the moderators and administrators who must worry about which user was posting as a guest merely to disseminate information anonymously and which was really a puppetmaster attempting to post in disguise. It is my hope that Despoiler may serve as an outlet for those player necessities and make it easier on those of us who attempt to facilitate the discussion.

-------------
So if anyone is listening ...
