Yeah, since the end of July. The journal hasn't changed. And considering that nobody is still playing this, I doubt it will. If they shot part of the beginning of the real game, that's already going to waste right now.

I admit I'm not putting any effort into finding out what's up. If many people were playing this it would either get solved or we'd know by now if this is dead or just on break.

I think that finnish anagramming was a few steps beyond what anyone was willing to do. I keep checking the thread thinking that the PM will show some skill and adapt the story, but it's not happened yet, and I doubt at this point that it will.

Finnish

While i enjoy Finnish arts and innovations I don't think I'll be learning Finnish. Actually I Know I won't be. =P

As for anagramming Finnish thats most certainly out of the question. Finding someone that writes Finnish is a possibility but one that will anagram thats definitely NOT going to happen.

They said there will be more to come though so there Must be a work around.

That *&#%$ cypher
As crystal clear as mud!!!!

This a sampling of all permutations for the possible codifications given to us by Mr. Owen U. Aspirin

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
minuses are negative number & pluses are positive numbers
Grid-shift
-LEFT|+RIGHT ANE GCA NDO OI ; -RIGHT|+LEFT RNE RHE HIO OI ; -DOWN|+UP YHE MTE FUI OI ; -UP|+DOWN EIA NON OIT OI ;
-LEFT|+UP TAL HOR HOW AE ; -RIGHT|+UP STD NAL EOT UT ; -DOWN|+RIGHT PUD KIM MOV DE ; -DOWN|+LEFT ITO EUM USC OT ;
-UP|+LEFT ATI CYE TIO AE ; -UP|+RIGHT REU YOD SIE UT ; -LEFT|+DOWN COP TEF UNU OT ; -RIGHT|+DOWN UNE END IOE DE

Grid-shift+Alpha-Rotation
-LEFT|+FORWD SJS LWX LVO BJ ; -RIGHT|+FORWD JFM ZPP CPI WU ; -LEFT|+BACK IZI DOP XHA ZH ; -RIGHT|+BACK ZVC RHH OBU TS ;
-DOWN|+FORWD PYS EOR DYK SI ; -DOWN|+BACK FOI WGJ PKW QG ; -UP|+FORWD SYK SYK AHV IO ; -UP|+BACK IOA KQC MTH GL

Undistributed forms for easier anagram searches
ANEGCANDOOI ;RNERHEHIOOI ; YHEMTEFUIOI ; EIANONOITOI ; TALHORHOWAE
STDNALEOTUT ; PUDKIMMOVDE ; ITOEUMUSCOT ; ATICYETIOAE ; REUYODSIEUT
COPTEFUNUOT ; UNEENDIOEDE
SJSLWXLVOBJ ; JFMZPPCPIWU ; IZIDOPXHAZH ; ZVCRHHOBUTS ; PYSEORDYKSI
FOIWGJPKWQG ; SYKSYKAHVIO ; IOAKQCMTHGL

I've crunched all the permutations through a Finnish anagram tool and have gotten absolutely nothing that I can cross reference to wordpress.org.

This is nerve racking and frustrating as h*ll!!! Where's Alan Turing when I need him?

PS. PYS EOR DYK SI was mis-transcribed by the code author as being PYS EOR DYK OI ... I'll mail him/her some aspirin too if they would like =)

I am such a slacker =(
Smack self for lack of drive

Finnish: syksy
# English: autumn/fall

Finnish: kahvio
# English: café/cafeteria

No anagramming necessary.
I'm still searching for the ramifications of this phrase on the web.. but if Caffeina the god of caffeine wanted to hit you with a wake up call.. This would be it I think.
SO for those still watching http://autumncafe.wordpress.com/ does exist...
now I need to crack into it =(

BTW this is Surfzoned aka Sebring..... =P

I guess we never give up.

It was day of week, date, country, month(or year) before it was changed.

password

Besides the fact that I tried a plethora of password variants already, including the FoF scheme, few people use the same logic for creating passwords and I believe this includes Pete and Alan. These facts make me think that they will be using different password schemes.
Also Alan is a lot more paranoid than Pete was and I have a feeling that only Pete will be able to lead us to where the puzzle is that will then lead us to the password.
Of course the password could be somewhere in the materials we have to date. I have a feeling that info on the password might be a part of the 'weird' messages that were seeded into otherwise normal conversations with characters sometime after we were given the AP2 cypher to solve. I'm sighting such things as RT hitting himself with a cinder block wrapped in a slice of lime; while very imaginative imagery it could very well be a clue for the password.

This is all speculation on my part of course...
(getting coffee... so I'm more coherent) Smile

Tried most of the Umberto Eco references as passwords to no avail.

Raja Runoilija
The #s

On the card back that had Raja Runoilija on it, The Poet, the numbers read 2764-5511-6406-8947. I searched for Finnish phone codes and kept getting errors telling me that the number had too many digits and none of the beginning numbers in the sequence match Finnish city or country codes that I could find..
Alan mentions in AP2 code that he had a phone drop set up for "Mike The Poet" but I don't think this number correlates to that even though they are on the Finnish card. The numbers also seem to have no formating correlating them to any type of Finland address either. They also don't translate into Long/Lat coordinates that lead anywhere relevant.

So, What are these numbers for?
I'm speculating that they decode to a message maybe saying how they can meet. Any ideas on this? Maybe someones else's crazy idea will jog my mind into figuring it out /shrug.

Very well done!

We need to communicate with either Germain or Royal Thames/Petal about it. A Twitter to Petal about a locked Fall Bistro where Allan's last words are should do it. We might have to rope Zizka back in to get a message to Germain.

Information about Mike The Poet and how to use the business card is probably contained in the blog post, is my best guess.

i emailed germain last night and have not yet recevied a reply. The possibility exists that, though we found the site, the PMs are not watching anylonger or are at least not checing al the emails. Maybe a round of brief messages at all of the old in game sites would help.

Already started to leave some messages lieing around.

I'm gonna drop a few more emails at old addresses I have and see what surfaces.

Sidenote: a little site in memory of RoyalThames
http://surfzoned.wordpress.com/
You might want to read all the twitter messages first.

Map update

I don't know if this is new or not (it was updated on Aug 8th)

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=104819021689573090159.0004351c9b52b15c5d93f&ll=45.18806,-38.839958&spn=89.91566,142.734375&t=k&z=3&om=1

PC4

OIS Headquarters
7950 Westpark Dr., Mclean, VA
D/T: 18 September 2005
Collateral File 4
------------------------------------
This piece of collateral is another internal memo, this time from the Deputy Director of Operations - SE ( Special Executive), William Keenan, to a restricted distribution list. The memo is in direct response to the memo of 18 September (which it references) providing a summary of the final candidates for OSPRY.

Interestingly, where the 18 September memo asks for a slate of 4 candidates, this memo only provides two; Julian Thalberg and David Waters.

From the summary they both appear to be similarly qualified for whatever the job is; both have Top Secret and Restricted clearances, both screened as physically and psychologically fit, they both could easily have operational backgrounds.

Waters is shown to be a GS-11 in the OIS which puts him at an annual salary of about $55K, whereas Thalberb is listed as an O-4 (major) in the Army (these days that would put him at about $50K base).

The weird thing is that the memo shows Julian as Army, but also associates what appears to be the Dept. of Justice (DoJ). Perhaps he came from one Dept. and moved to another? Whatever the meaning, it either didn't hurt him or helped him, because from future files it definitely appears that Julian got selected.

JZ -

Although G no longer monitors any of the vehicles by which he communicated with your group, I still keep an one on them - more to ensure that no one comes snooping around than anything else. Not sure if you are interested, but no one has. Come snooping around, that is. All lines have been clean ever since everything blew up back at the end of July. Nothing that smells like J G or the people he used to work for, at any rate.

I'm really not supposed to be talking to anyone associated with this project, G says it is far too hot to be involved with people we don't know. Once I opened the briefcase and we realized who we were really dealing with, he just wanted to remove as many variables as possible. I understand, but it sounded like you people had been through a lot. I can tell you that the young guy in ghost town was not J G; J G was the guy who came into town a couple days later. There were some handwritten notes about him in the case (everything else was on the laptop, and we didn't get very much from that) that indicated that the people who J G had been working for were not happy with him and were not happy about what had happened in ghost town.

I haven't been able to crack the second code yet. It's a weird one. I'm pretty sure, based on some of the other stuff we found, that part of the crack is going to involve Finnish - and that just makes it a colossal pain in the ass. Maybe you've had more luck with it.

I'm gonna have to drop off now. I'll keep at eye on our comms just in case anyone trips any of the little wires I've set, but I'm not going to be able to talk any more. Things are just too sketchy.

Good luck on your side.

Doubt it's wise to forward the new address to this person. Seems clear no hints or direction will come from there.

One positive thing has come from this: we know at the very least that a PM is still aware that we are watching.

Coffee: that is a new addition to the map.

Surfmonkey: After viewing your recent photoshop work, I am deeply concerned about your sanity. Razz

Why would Allan use "rubypebble" as the handle on the blog?

Anyway, looks like we have to shake Royal Thames back to life.

Coincidence: the password for the blog post shoud use the numbers 777, were it following Germain's 1st pattern. July is the month he died, ruby is the birthstone for that month.
