[META] Technical Problems Trouble Logging Onto the Site, etc. I've been tring to get into the site for this sleuth game ... It's been four hours now since I can't get in. Anyone else having this trouble?
EDIT: Clarified topic and expanded its scope for future problems. --Phaedra

Same here...
Maintenance is a possibility; perhaps they found out that many players had access to things they weren't supposed to see yet, and they are now busy changing things.
It can also be part of the game (the kidnappers found out about the 'save my husband' site, and crashed every site that might compromise them), although that seems unlikely.

can't get in is it possible that they have closed down for Saturday?
Could it be that the cheating has been exposed (still think it is not a great idea to cheat)?
Are they being scolded for their marketing ploy and having second thoughts?
Me again with my questions....I guess we will find out soon enough

WHY CAN'T I GET INTO THE SITE Why were the sites pulled off the internet? I don't think any of the sites are working this morning. Court TV has had a lot of bad reviews about this contest, and it's considered to be in bad taste. It was either pulled all together or it's another "test." Maybe his phone number should be used at this point.

non-working sites It seems that nobody can get in, although I did receive my Day 6 email this morning, which said there was a new video up. However, the page won't load. I'm in the eastern time zone and was up at 7:15 am. for the new clue. (It's now 8:45 am., for reference). It would be nice, tho, if they cancelled the game that they let us know instead of keeping us all waiting. Well, if they cancel, we should all avoid Court TV, Applebees and Suzuki. If enough of us agree, they may put the game back to save their companies! I'll bet there are some heads rolling at Court TV, which is really too bad because the game was a good idea. It just didn't work out the way they wanted it to. It is really quite unfair to all of us who have been working so hard with research and reading, for them to cancel and/or have no information as to the status of the game. I for one will NOT visit Applebees EVER or the Court TV web site for a long time if the game is pulled. I hope Court TV is still watching these threads.....

why site is down savemy..... site down well i do know why its down i got a email RE; the fact that they are redoing the sites+puzzles etc. they said this;
We have taken down the websites for updates and repairs.
We are aware that certain information has been posted on various websites and changes have been made to address this. There are still many critical pieces of information that have not been revealed. Every user will need to go through each puzzle for 8 days, so there is still a lot to figure out.
hope it helps the guessing
GOOD LUCK TO ALL

still think they're sitting back laughing at us now? This "amateurness" wasnt a ploy, they certainly didnt MEAN to make anything that accessible (changing letters in the url or finding things that have been publically cached is NOT HACKING)
... they just didnt know what kind of puzzle bulldogs are out here and didnt do their homework..... lol
Applebees,Suzuki and Court TV should be demanding someones head on a platter at the game writing company.

Honestly, I think the game producers are handling a bad mistake that happened early on in the best manner possible. What problems were they confronted with, and how did they react?
People thought it was real
Solution: the game creators first put up disclaimers on all associated webpages explaining that this was part of their 8-Day Mystery Challenge. They modified videos to include disclaimers. And recently they added disclaimers to their skyscraper advertisements.
People viewed puzzles beforehand
Solution: make minor modifications to puzzles so this did not become an "unfair advantage" to those in the know. Passwords were changed, and even the rebus puzzle got modified. Thus, we can't tell for sure if the answer we figured out based on early investigations will stay the same.
People accessing production team / behind the scenes information
I would assume the current downtime is an effort to rectify this situation.
So while the production company behind the game did make a mistake, they handled things in the most professional way possible, as far as I can tell. Each response seems fairly logical to me, at any rate.
