Ow. I'm gonna do something unprecedented, for me at least, and that's to turn off the snark machine for just a second and try to address this guy's ill-conceived (to be generous) website with a somewhat compassionately critical eye.

I've spent enough time watching socially maladjusted prodigies of various types to know that, if someone IS legitimately intelligent, at least "intelligent" in the "blows-the-charts-off-the-higher-levels-of-the-deductive-reasoning-bell-curve" sort of way, there is also a much higher possibility that they will exhibit behavior that might run the continuum from antisocial, on the one end, to flat-out autistic on the other.

Chess prodigies like Bobby Fischer (who is, I believer, currently living in a wooden shack out there in the Grokmenistan countryside talking to animals and composing coded messages to Ted Kacsynski which he then sends out via an advanced method of mental telepathy possibly involving the www.redkore.com website), is a classic example of this. In fact, one thing I've learned from twitchy and withdrawn G&T kids worldwide is that, the more flat-out frightening and out-of-touch they appear on the surface, and the more of an obscenely egocentric value they seem to place on fixating on their own intelligence, the more likely it is that they probably ARE pretty damn smart.

Pleasant to be around? Hell no. Inflated sense of their own self-importance in the grander scheme of things? More than likely, yes. Prone to taking questionable, bordering-on-offensive, utterly indefensible positions on sensitive topics like race or gender relations? Check. Perennially gripped in what appears to be an all-consuming bonfire of personal paranoia? Damn skippy. But hand these guys a slide rule, or a complicated series of color-progression patterns on a piece of paper designed to measure ability to adapt two-dimensional concepts into spatially coherent three-dimensional models, and watch them smoke the rest of us plebians into next Thursday.

Still, would I want to hire someone JUST based on his/her/its gray matter? Um, no thank you. Smart people tend to do freaky, nonproductive things with their time like hanging around on Internet forums discussing alternate reality gaming all day long, and people like that just scare the pants offa me.

(Look, everybody, Ozy's pants-less AGAIN! Wow, that didn't take long. Rolling Eyes )

O

So, if we could erase this topic, I would think we ought to invite him to the ARG world.

Only if you pull up your pants.

In fact, could you do that regardless?

Shocked

They just want me to print that whole thing out, using up my color ink in my printer so I have to come in and buy another cartridge at insanely inflated prices.

Fornication Unto Charles the King.

Atleast, that's what I've been told.

Urban legends, I'm afraid, sauceykat - http://www.snopes.com/language/acronyms/fuck.htm

Too bad, really - it makes for a nice story. Smile

thanks for the info...I should have known, too easy to be true. And I usually check snopes so it's funny that I didn't think of it.

Thanks!

Hmm. Fondling his roll of quarters, eh? He looks like he ate a bad egg or something, man.
