Email Phyllis got pampered

Dear Sunny,

I am so relieved to hear that your mother is doing better. I have a feeling she is going to recover and you will have many more years together. I really have nothing new to report but thought I would let you all know that I am rested and recharged. I spent the whole of Friday in bed sleeping. I rose to consciousness from time to time, thought, "Why bother?" And sank back into deep blank waters of exhaustion. Yesterday, I drove Iris to my favorite Day Spa and we got The Works, an entire day of pampering, preening and polishing.

Today, we thought about getting back to the tasks at hand and rejected the notion without a qualm. Instead we went flea marketing through a circuit of nearby towns, Burrs Mill, Upper Mill, Whitesbog and Pemberton, stopping wherever signs announced, "Antiques," "Collectibles," and "junque." It felt so good to being doing something normal. We found the most outrageously tacky oil on black velvet painting of the Jersey Devil and jokingly argued for an hour over who would get to keep it. The conflict was resolved when we decided to give it to Wes and force him to hang it over his bed!

We both desperately needed this respite and are the better for it. Tomorrow I will face my unanswered emails with renewed vigor.

Fondly,
Phyllis
