That would be the first time ever that the game faq boards have ever been referred to as a 'good place'. Skimming through the thread, it appears they acted true to form and chased him off.

It'd be awfully easy to pose as Adjutant Reflex on a board where the name hasn't been registered yet. For now it might be best to stick to the bungie and HBO forums as reliable channels.

I would agree , i am also wondering whether they may use something like Certain Affinity's or Ensemble's sites to provide something more?

Regards

Whatever happened 99,520 years ago, happened about 100,000 years ago if the local year is 2552.

There are a few hints in the Halo 2 campaign that the last activation of the halo installations (the array perhaps?) was about 100,000 years ago.

So the interesting question is, what happened on Earth in 95,000 BC, when the halos were activated last?

I'm no historian, but some quick wikipedia research suggests that this was roughly the time when early humanity started to spread out from africa and into the middle east. Africa, in fact, is called "the cradle of civilization"

Interestingly enough, we know that africa is the only place the covenant landed troops on earth in halo 2, and also that whatever the massive device we see in the H3 trailer is also located in africa.

If you look at some of the theories on the story page at bungie.org, a lot of folks think that when the forerunners built and activated the halos (thus wiping themselves and all other potential flood-hosts) they may have "seeded" humanity on earth. Tis also a common theory that humanity may be the descendants of the forerunners.

I tend to believe the latter. Here is my speculation based on events at the end of Halo: Ghosts of Onyx

Be aware of spoilers for the book.

Yes, the Ark. How else would you preserve your species when faced with the Flood - the monument to all your sins?

Another interesting tidbit is that in what could be called an early viral campaign for halo 1, several emails were sent from a then-mysterious entity named "cortana" who had apparently been residing inside bungie's computer network.

Quote:
That was surprisingly easy. Pretty lax security around here, for all the talk. They will
be helplessly chasing me around their nodes for the next millenium at least. At least
there will be some joy in tormenting this other entity that seems quite "trapped" in
their excuse for a network. Although, for some reason, it does seem to have an obsessive
preoccupation with my mother. Strange.

At any rate, I found this "message" in a relatively archaic databank and thought some of
you might find it of interest. Then again, I'm often either bemused or startled at the
items you find interesting.

I'm still not sure what it is he saw in you.

Cortana

Is the other entity Adjutant Reflex? Could they really have thought that far ahead?

Remember that command prompt that appeared in a Warthog schematic on bungie.net a few weeks ago? Perhaps Adjutant Reflex was investigating that incident. Alos, Adjutant Reflex would not be an AI, but a program triggered by a certain incident. (similar to System Peril Distributed Reflex). It follows, then, that we will not see Adjutant Reflex again, unless another incident happens.

It is noted as a "Compound Intelligence" and it's stated purpose is "Facilitation of Array requirements."

The array is the set of Halo rings designed to destroy all sentient life in the galaxy - a safeguard against Flood infection and subsequent destruction of all worthwhile life.

The incident it is responding to will be fleshed out further, to be sure. Right now, we can only assume that it has to do with the damage done to the array.

Since the subject at b.net is "System Integrity Confirmed," we can safely assume that the Halo rings are capable of their function, even in their current state. Makes good sense to build in redundancy when the galaxy is at stake. Wink

I had guessed that what he meant was that he had confirmed the integrity of the b.net forums (for use as a future communication channel).

Could be. Or there could be a system in place at the sight that will be revealed later. Not much to go on for now.

Looks like Bungie.net is the go to site, at least for now.

38 hours...
