Google suggests that "parsimoniae" might be spelt "parsimonia" and that "Antikythere" could be spelt "Antikythera".

Both of the words can be found on this page.

that would make more sense...
can't believe I didn't spot that on the parsimoniae, should've paid a bit more attention in Latin/ancient Greek class :p (just checked some more sites, Antikythera seems to be correct, thus the list needs 2 more "e's" and maybe even that 'a'?

more letters

top of the evidence page

understand that this theory works in our favor as much as against it. But like I said, our members are quite resolute in our evidence examination (monthly meetings usually consist of new and old evidence debates) and we feel confident that SOTA theories concerning these artifacts are more complete than countering explanation.

Here are a few examples that span human history. A much lager evidence section lives in our members section as well as the discussion forums that surround them

ok first bold is missing an 's', no?

mmm lager.

my theory: letters anagram to

note the last sentence in my quote "much larger evidence section lives
in our members section"

I don't know if this is worth looking at on the SOTA-site but it sure looks 'fishy'

all pictures displaying Stonehenge have filenames with Stondehedge in stead of the correct writing...

Nice catch. I also think that the filename for the clock-like thing (can't remember how to spell what it is called) is important.

346429963 is the number of the flickr image that was ripped off by the sota. google it. dunno what 2fc516901e is.

Second part might be important.

I just noticed that they spell Antikythera wrong. They have it as Antikythere.

No, it's not. It's just the rest of the filename that flickr adds.

Maybe they should be placed in the order the links(to each of the different pages) are placed on the main SOTA page. The letters within each page should then be placed in order of appearance on said page?

more of Dr Mitchell's quote

was looking to see if the quote was wrong to add to the letters list, but I find the rest of the quote interesting:

Quote:
I have been over the years very skeptical like many others. But in the last ten years or so, I have known the late Dr. Alan Hynek - who I highly admire. I know and currently work with Dr. Jacques Vallee. I've come to realize that the evidence is building up to make this a valid and researchable question. Further, because my personal motivation has always been to understand our universe better, and my own theoretical work has convinced me that life is everywhere in the universe that has been permitted to evolve, I consider this a very timely question... By becoming more involved with the serious research field, I've seen the evidence mount towards the truth of these matters. I rely upon the testimony of contacts that I have had - old timers - who were involved in official positions in government and intelligence and militiary over the last 50 years. We cannot say that today's government is really covering it up - I think that most of them don't know what is going on anymore than the public...

breaking the letters found by page seems useful...

The stray tilde (~) suggests a website to me; a lot of ISP-hosted personal websites (like mine Smile ) include the tilde before a username in the url.

For example, if we had username JoeBlow at the ISP foo.com, Joe's personal web space would be at:
Code:
http://www.foo.com/~JoeBlow

-- Steve's wondering if this may be another tangential hint to an in-game site... hopefully not one on a real-world ISP host because an ARG can chew through bandwidth like a pirhana school chews through cattle.

more letters?

ok, i might be starting to see things. think i'm going to have to sign off soon, but just had a look over some other pages:

Quote:
We are not an anti-government group, quack pot religious commune or Sci-Fi readers circle.

I don't think I've ever heard of a quack pot? shouldn't it be crack pot?

Sci-Fi = sci-fi
ok that one might be a stretch

Quote:
We are a Society of intelligent and accomplished people.

ok, when he's talking about SOTA, those caps slide, but this one is out of place, right?

Just to let everyone know, I am currently working on organizing the errors based on the page they are on. I've found quite a few more in my search. I'll update the previous post and will notify everyone with a new post when I am done.

It would be more work, but you may want to create a complete list of errors, in order, and then a separate list that categorizes by page and perhaps one for error type (spelling or omission).

I realize it may well be an anagram, but it also might be helpful to translate the letters in their numeric counterpart and see if that turns up any obvious patterns as well.

Hopefully, you can siphon something out of this. I'd hate for you to put in so much effort only to have it be a simple case of poor spelling and grammar. Wink

As a minor in English, this exercise makes me hate the PMs. This better be worth something! Smile

Edit: This post does not mean I'm done yet.

I just found something. Sorry for not going back and searching, but I'm engrossed in the current exercise for the letters. On the Evidence page they say

http://www.societyoftheancients.com/evidence.html wrote:

One of our members came across a website that also contains this symbol (206.16.223.65) but it's much to early to determine if this is valid evidence of Ancients.

However we already know that leads to the countdown clock, and that the Glyph/symbol is no where to be found on that page! Is this just because we are ahead of the PMs or is it there and we have not found it yet?
