Yeah, doing it left-to-right was looking better until I hit that one negative.

What else could the numbers mean?

Some things I have tried:

Replace each number with the letter you use to spell it (13=t, 1=o)... but there are so many T's I don't think it is right.

Tried rot with the pattern he used before, 0, -1,-1,-2... also 0, 1, 1, 2.

Also like you guys have already said, I've tried all my ideas with a=1 and a=0.

With there being zeros, and when you rot something, the original is Rot-0... I think it he is using some method where each number tells how to rot itself or another letter... but without actual text I'm not sure how to use this idea.

He did say read the letter carefully.

Someone mentioned a "clock puzzle" and "[it's] time [to get]..." being the keyword, but I don't see it.

Tried graphing them as coordinate points, both in left-right sets and up-down sets (up down made more sense since left-right gives a duplicate point), and then playing connect-the-dots, but didn't come up with anything recognizable.

Well, the numbers go between 0 and 24, which could correspond to hours, but 24 is the same as 0. Or, really, there is no 24, I guess. So I'm not sure where that gets us.

Military time

I'm a dispatcher. We use military time for shipping. 0000 and 2400 are both accepted as midnite.

Yeah, but why use both in the same encryption when they equate to the same thing?

I've been playing with the puzzle for a bit. I tried taking the numbers and adding 1 to them, so the 0 becomes a 1 and so on, and tried to match them up to the alphabet and rot, but nada.

Has anyone tried to take the numbers and match them up to the bold and italized letters from the first email? I started to but got called away to do actual work, and I'm about to go do a show so no time right now. Maybe the top row is for the bold and the bottom the italics?

ok, this thing is driving me nuts. Just so no one else wastes their time, In addition to all of the different manifestations of the alphabet that I have tried, I also tried using the actual email as the key. matching each word to a number, forward and backwards, as well as each letter to a number forward and backwards, and still nothing.

Edit...yes, i did try using the caps and bolds...nothing there either

I don't have a clue about how to go about this so far, but I still have to believe that somehow a surname is related to this. Also, I think there should only be one surname pertaining to it, since the clue was "surname", and not "surnames."

Unfortunately, no surname we know of is 24 letters long. I'm going to try something and edit this in a little bit, see if it works.

EDIT: Nevermind, my idea wasn't going to work. I was trying to add the digits of the numbers together to a new number (17 turns into 1+7=Cool, but that didn't work at all.

If the top row is considered the hours and the bottom row is the minutes, then none of the zeros are in the hour section... They could just be considered minutes...

I was wondering if this either corresponded to times that emails have been sent.

Or if it will be when we perform certain actions - he said we'd have 24 hours to complete a task, maybe these are linked to a sequence...

Or if they are organized in order of time progression, and then approached with ROT or something - that might get us somewhere.

Here they are:

17:10
19:01
01:11
16:24
03:04
15:18
12:00
24:10
13:00
23:16
12:12
24:17
