No, I wasn't, but the media coverage suggests that this is more of a text-based system; the only talent they mention is writers. Also, with the Halo3.com site itself involved, I think they're shooting for mass participation rather than relative obscurity. Not to be harsh, but ask the average Halo fan on the street what I Love Bees was and they'll draw a total blank. It might have been extremely fun but the market penetration was low. If their current direction is any indication, they're going to keep things to the internet. Even the rallies that were held in cities recently were just meant to direct people to the SOTA website.

I'll stand by my opinion that this will not be solely on the internet. Too many fans loved the interaction they had wtih the characters and other players in real life for I Love Bees for Bungie to skip out on that opportunity again.

I'm getting timeouts trying to access the Transmission Log or the SOTA site. Odd.

It's just you, or it's intermittent, as I'm able to reach both fine.

In which case it's very odd! I'm posting here fine but any other site Halo 3 related refuses to load. Must be a DNS error or something. I'll try restarting.

Not Base 7
Not entirely base 7

The right digit in each set of three is not base seven. Its base 2. Also when that number does a borrow (i.e. 141 000 --> 140 1xx) the xx should be 66 however this is not the case, xx changes to 13 so in my examply 141 000 subtract 000 001 would equal 140 113 which shortens the countdown. I don't know if either of these things have been taken into account in the final destination time or not, but it will make a difference if they haven't been.

Each "minute" ticks off on a seven count. Not exactly seven through 7 - 1, there are four digits skipped, but there are seven of them nonetheless.

And the endtime is set in the code and it will not change no matter what the count unless a new endtime is chosen and coded appropriately.

Dude, 113 in base 7 is 59. 59 seconds is one second less than a minute.

You have to count the 0, so it's actually 114 which equals 60.

1 minute/60 seconds = 001 000. 59 seconds = 000 113. 0 seconds = 000 000.

Hmmm... Regarding the transmission log's sudden speed up... my friend has come up with another theory that's clearly better than anything I'll come up with (Jeez, why am I the one on these forums, then? XD)

Quote:
Alright, the clock's definatly not going by speeds of somewhere else if it always resets to regular time, then speeds up. That throws my first theory out the window. My guess now would be that whoever hacked the timer is having problems controlling it.'cause of the resets. The must still have hold of it, though, if time still eventually speeds up as before.

Thoughts?

You still have to count the 1 "second" going from 000 to 113. Thus 114 = 60 seconds.

Edit: Since it is counting down I had to reverse my numbers to make sense.

There's no "reset". *sigh* When you load the page, it simply starts with the amount of regular time to count down to tomorrow midnight, but the speed is based on counting down to tonight midnight. No reset.

I dunno. I kinda consider that a "Reset" XD Maybe not a server-wide reset, but, y'know... If this countdown has two different end dates (The original 21st date, and the sped up date of the 20th), clearly SOMEONE has a hard time playing with countdown scripts XD

Well, I let the "fast" countdown happen all night and into the morning, when I came back it had slowed down to its normal pace.

My window at the time of this posting now reads:

000 003 050 064

We'll see what happens when it hits zero, I guess :-/
