AR's newest post.
Hmm... reflection sorta suggests a mirror...
"mirror" can also mean an alternate version of a website
image... Isn't the transmission log missing an image of the glyph?
Does this confirm my theory that SOTA is being fed an alternate version of the transmission log? XD
What about a rainbow reflected in water?

or it could be reflection as in being in thought, so saying that he has had millennia to mull things over.

ARs post was stickied by Bungie. All of ARs posts have been "pinned" by means of some "hack". Why is this one different?
Is the person who stickied it the person AR speaks of? The person who locked the post? Or perhaps the person he sought out who left his legacy...one small stickied post?
[Edit]This was quickly changed at bnet. It is "pinned" now as the others were[/edit]

I just found some references to water from looking up info about Iris the goddess.
From the Iris (mythology) entry in wikipedia:
Quote:
In some records she is a sororal twin to the Titaness Arkhe (arch) , who flew out of the company of Olympian gods to join the Titans as their messenger goddess during the Titanomachy, making the two sisters enemy messenger goddesses. Iris was said to have golden wings, whereas Arkhe had iridescent ones.
and the wiki entry for Arkhe:
Quote:
In the ancient Greek philosophy, arche (ἀρχή) is the beginning or the first principle of the world.
The idea of an arche was first philosophized by Thales of Miletus, who claimed that the first principle of all things is water

Something opaque reflects no light, perhaps he sees nothing.

Haha! I was just going to propose that idea! I'm The Olympian on b.net and I guessed Arkhe (amongst w/e I could think of in the amount of time). I thought it might have been to far out and I was going to develop it further before proposing it because I didn't think anyone would agree with me.

Note the text on the right referring to a "millennia of slumber."

Even if one were to figure out the answer to AR's 'riddle' how would we go about communcating with him? I just signed up on B.net (as OwduaNM) and I've messaged him as well as posted my idea in a thread but not AR's official thread.

just a quick note - I split out posts from the 97 page thread related to the recent AR post. So let's keep the topic of this thread in mind when posting here - don't want this become another 100 page general-topic thread

But some one did answer Durandal in the thread about half way through it. and then he posted again.

Well, at the end of Halo 2, the gravemind was already a fully developed entity on the Delta Halo. It could possibly be that the Gravemind is making use of some device of some sort to communicate and overpower AR.
Or, the Gravemind also has Cortana in its clutches, and it could be using her to overpower AR through some kind of inter-time transmission link.
But I really don't think it is the gravemind. It must be something more forerunner in origin. Bringing the flood into the current time seems wrong on some level in the Haloverse.

Bungie has also I believe stated that the Halo universe and the Marathon universe are separate entities, and that Halo only borrows some artistic and spiritual links to its predecessor.

I was about to say that I couldn't help but think of Durandal.

I really wish it was Durandal. But then how would the entire Halo and Marathon universes join together? I think that would be very difficult to connect the two together.
Still, Durandal would make an excellent adversary for us to fight against.

based on the points raised, and 'millennia', I'm figuring it's the gravemind... he's been around this long too - he's flood, and the ark was built because of the flood... he's had millennia to grow and learn, and if he is somehow connected into at least one Halo, then he may very well have a connection in to the Ark, trying to get past AR. Of course, this gravemind in our time has no idea about what's happened in 2552, unless somehow his existence spans spcae/time, which I doubt
