Concerning Halo 3 Zunes
...and a legacy hidden in something small

Halo 3 Zunes started shipping this week and (According to Folly, who works at Gamestop) will be hitting the shelves tomorrow.

Anybody else think these small devices would be a good place to look for clues?

I suspect that if there were hidden information, it would be loaded on every Halo 3 zune, just to make sure the information gets out. And also for logistical reasons.

[OFFTOPIC] Halo 3 Zune

If all the reviews of the Zune didn't point out so many flaws I'd actually purchase one. I lost a video ipod in a car accident a couple months ago and I've been debating how to replace it (Zune, Video Ipod, Iphone, wait for the next generation Ipod). I would pick up a Halo 3 Zune in a second if I could easily sync it with my already purchased iTunes content and if it the ability to sync podcasts and play games.

If someone gets the Halo 3 Zune, please let me know how you like it!

If they are going to use the Zune for an in game thing, then the glyph should be on the box right?

Eh, not necessarily. my guess would be a hidden text file, or something hidden in the images.

The Zune site lists what will be included on the drive. The last bit of the last entry might be relevant:

Quote:

Over 120 different images, including game concept art, storyboards, paintings, and conceptual marketing imagery.

I think that "conceptual marketing imagery" might be a hint. Wouldn't prototype posters just be game concept art? Of course that's just guesswork based on a vague phrase, but consider: it's conceptual, ARGs are certainly a type of marketing, and imagery is what is most likely to contain some sort of secret without being terribly obvious. Anyone else agree or disagree?

hmm... amestop exclusive, which includes EB. I may go to my EB and check it out. If they have a return policy, I might consider it. I just read through a couple reviews, not very favourable - though they were last year. I'm currently running music/media off a 200mhz clunky pocketpc with next to no memory Razz. IF it's decent to my own tastes, and there's some good modding stuff out there, it might be worth having for a while... if not, EB'd better have a 'try before you buy' or money back guarantee Laughing
I dunno... will have to think about it, and check tomorrow.

The site says the zune was released June 15 - was it delayed, or are they available now? If so, I'm surprised there's been no news yet of the Halo content pre-packed... or has there? links?

all this is of course, still assuming that AR is referring to the Zune in his posts... Confused

Actually I think it kind of depends on the meaning of the quote:

I will seek one of you out and leave my legacy in a small space.

If this is two seperate thoughts as in "I will seek one of you out" and "I will leave my legacy in a small space" then it makes sense for there to be something on the Halo3 Zune. (Heh, it'd be hot to have your own Forerunner AI on every Zune).
But if that's meant to be the same though, like it's seeking someone out and leaving its legacy with them, then I think the fact that he's basically saying one single person makes it unlikely it'd be on every Zune. And something being on just one Zune doesn't really make sense either.

If you dare venture to the B.net forums there are some reviews on there. I haven't read too much about it though.

Also, for mods and hacks.....you should check out zunehacks.com or just google "zune hacks" and you'll get plenty of websites.

AR could mean to copy himself in to a PC, much like what happened to Dana in ILB. I mean it technically is smaller than where he is at now. But does that mean an in-game character or will AR speak through an OOG player?

I can see it now:

"How to of the day: Place a sentient AI from the future in your zune to manage your songs!"
