the only problem with that theory is that Guily Spark not triggering the Halo "has not happened yet." That event happens 500 years from now. We can't assume that a character from the games and/or novels is behind this quite frankly, because none of that has happened yet.

The halo system has been used once before. Just about the time humans left the Cradle of Life. or Africa

You are correct, but if GS has monitored the installation for 101,217 years before 2552, then he does exist now, and can affect events in this ARG.

I always thought that the end of Halo 1 was very ominous, with GS floating around in space. Good theory here.

Yes, but we know where he ends up.

And come to think of it, none of this has to be happening in the physical sense, so sure, could be 343 accessing the network remotely.

I agree with the person who said this stuff hasn't happened yet.

Yes we do know where he ends up, (and of course bungie knew where he would end up), but his presence at the end of the game, seems to imply that he is more sinister than he appears. If you think about most villians in games and movies, they are the last ones seen on screen. It's not coincidence that he was the last character shown.

Also it shows that he had the ability to leave the installation whenever he wanted, so his physical presence on Earth in the present cannot be ruled out.

Idea

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe the other "entity" is the person who activated the halos the last time. He could still be alive because of the slipspace bubble revealed in the Ghosts of Onyx book. The spot of blood, or whatever, could be the guilt of wiping out all sentinent life. If AR is a monitor like 343 Guilty Spark then it is AR's nature to want to set off the halo's again. The person could feel guilty and want to stop it from happening again.

I could be completely off because i am a n00b to ARG's

It's a sound theory as far as I can tell.

Methinks I should play through Halo 1 and 2 again... I need to dust off the ol' brain (too much Gears, Crackdown and THP8... meh).

According to Conversations with the Universe, if GS wanted to get anywhere it would take a while:
Quote:
Revolution eta-condition: Well, everything is in a terrible state. The installation is ruined. I am stuck here in the middle of nowhere with only impulse propulsion, and the only good news is that the Flood breach has been halted, albeit inelegantly.

Now it is possible that he could have gone from Installation 04 to the ark and then back, but I'm not to sure about that. Impusle is slow compared to FTL travel. And it would also appear that GS was picked up by something/someone shortly after the installation of 04.

Revolution eta-condition: Excellent! I believe I see assistance approaching...<ends

That was more of what I was thinking of, heck, we heard reams about transmitting this, sending that, receiving this...which is what made it seem plausible to me. We don't have any concrete reason to suspect that anything has occurred physically yet.

What I forgot to mention is that I agree that any interaction from GS has to be through transmitted data rather than a physical interaction.

I don't know, doesn't this new entity seem a little to ... hostile to be GS? 343 Always struck me as very friendly and cheery, even when he was trying to kill you. This new being seems more ...ominous, for lack of a better word.

Well, I have to say, the video from the server seems to support my idea thus far. I can't imagine a more ominous view of (apparently) Guilty Spark than the one in the video. The way he pans around isn't unlike the way the Terminator scanned rooms looking for targets.

That last part is true, i read it somewhere on Halo.wikia.com. he was picked up, i think by some sort of Covenant Ship.

So it is 343. You can get a brief glimpse of a monitor, probably Guity Spark during the video.
