Now can anyone access these pages now or just those that got in without the windows live id birthdate screw up?
I think I still have the birthdate problem because the haloe3.com still asks me for a brithdate.

Also when I try to go to the transmission log page it loads the country display but doesn't do anything no matter which one I press.

Can anyone post or pm me the prcedure for clearing the browser cahe for ie 7 in case i didn't do it right.

A tired voice would have a fatigue tension in it, as well as breathy verbal interupters (sighs... studders, dropped vowels, pauses, etc) while this was read straight through with no varying cadence whatsoever.

Sounded like a guy from accounting reading the copy off an email into a webcam mic, which was then tweaked in that free editing app that comes with iLife or a soundblaster card, with some generic spacey-scif music dubbed in for creativity.

I used to do this sort of thing for a living, and this was some seriously low production value here, embarassing even. I really hope this ARG picks up soon. So far, 'Iris' hasn't had any 'walkaway girl' moments, meaning no hook to draw you in besides bored curiousity. Not that clicking links to unlock a floating 3D encyclopedia isn't fun and all, it's just, it's not fun... at all. Most of this content is going to be included in the bonus dvd when the game is released anyway.

luckliy i copied and pasted my key to a text file when I had the birthdate problem, I hope it helped unlock the server even though I can't seem to see the results of the opening directly.

I don't want to devalue your opinion, but I feel you are taking away from this experience for the rest of us. These threads are for gathering info, solving parts of the puzzle and speculating on the road to come. I don't deny that the level of quality is low for this ARG, but its even harder to suspend disbelief when you have someone pointing all the flaws of this ARG out every chance he/she gets. I suggest starting up a new thread completely dedicated to pointing out the flaws in the execution of this ARG, that would allow for the rest of us to continue on, and allow for those that want to step outside of the ARG and evaluate it to do so with out interfering with the rest of us moving forward.

Cash, I think you're blowing out this bigger than it is. I'm sure what you're describing was intentional, Bungie is top-notch when it comes to voice acting.

Yes. Judging by the fact that this was on a forerunner server documenting the Halos, whoever recorded it (The fictional character, not the actual voiceactor) was a scientist, not an actor XD There ARE people in the world that talk like that, y'know Wink

aside, Cash, that "generic sci fi music" isn't so generic. listen to the first notes of the entire audio file, and then listen to the Halo 3 trailer(with the "ark") it sounds very much in the exact same Key.

This thread is for discussing the content contained in the updated server, which is exactly what I am doing.

If I were trolling, I'd understand your point, however if you read my other posts, you'll see I am far from a troll, and have done my fair share of code scanning and vague reference searching since this whole thing started. If your imagination is so easily interrupted, I would suggest reading more books perhaps. Seeing how no one else has a background in audio production apparently, there isn't much point in discussing the matter further anyhow.

To close the matter completely, I'll add something that the boys over at penny arcade hit on this morning: there is a point where an ARG either becomes a deeply immersive fictional universe, where suspension of disbelief is mastered and the characters and stories become as real as the person in the car next to you at the stop light on the way home from work; or it becomes an expensive and complicated ad campaign. ILB was obviously the former, while todays content leaves Iris feeling more like the latter. It's still early on, but I really hope things start to turn around soon.

My point was this bit of voice acting was *not* top notch. I wasn't commenting on bungie or Halo, just this clip itself, and then later I touched on the ARG itself.

Yes, people talk like that normally, but if you put a gun the size of the universe against the speakers proverbial head, leaving him this one last chance to leave a message to the ages in hopes that someone might find it and prevent a seemingly inevitable cataclysm, he's gonna have some inflection in his voice. In contrast, this guy sounded bored, if anything.

Now seriously, if you guys wanna debate this with me further, pm me or something because I don't like kicking a dead horse no one is interested in.

Ok this is more of a jump to the defense, but i for the benefit of my self esteem i am also going to argue that you can look at something from multiple angles.

ILB recording were professionally created radio plays, probably with multiple retakes and sound effects. While this recording might sound like it was made by some who doesn't do this professionally or maybe ever made recordings. Yes it does sound like a forcefully made recording but then again maybe the person was reading of his log for audio recording or something of the like.
