If memory serves me, there's a scene in Halo 2 where we can see a map of where the different Halos are in relation to each other. If I'm remembering correctly, then maybe someone can overlay a screenshot of that scene with StarImage1 to see if there's anything there, like each arm of the glyph potentially pointing to an installation.

Edit: It might have been in the bonus materials included with the Collector's Edition if not in a cutscene during the game.

Cepheus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cepheus%2C_King_of_Aethiopia

So we now have a possible location, but we still don't know what exactly it means. Nothing particularly interesting in the wiki.

I'm not particularly convinced by the star chart to tell you the truth, but eh...

yeah, i dont think that those are really the constellations. Those are quite a bit forced...and stretched...and not in the right place...

interesting find

especially when combined with what ghostvirus searched: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=11429008&postRepeater1-p=2

Edit: maybe the guy who did the firing (see Array_Recorder_Data) could be of some importance to the ancients

too bad the constellations are a bit forced

Off topic:

Are any of the sites taking email addresses or other information so I can get stuff like the forerunner email, or are all those avenues closed now?

And are we supposed to use the FAQ topic if we have questions that do not primarily relate to the topics at hand (see above).

I'm just about certain that Cepheus, or any complete constellation for that matter, is not contained in StarImage1. Take a look at this shot of Ursa Minor (Petite Ours):

http://www.biochem.szote.u-szeged.hu/astrojan/ursami.htm

The proportions are wrong, and the stars are much too large-looking in StarImage1 for the entire constellation to be contained there. I'm no astronomer but I would guess that StarImage1 is a very small piece of the night sky.

agreed. it looks more like a deep field image. It could be focused in on a portion of a constellation or something.

There must be more images to come. Since this shows only one symbol of a possible 5 (or 7, depending on who you ask!!)

Using the top right hand corner of this image, there is definitely something big just out of view.. so this must mean something, and will match up when we get more images.. If anyone finds any, let us know in here.

These images are 100% manufactured, and not photo's. However.. people are talking about matching up constellations similar to those we see FROM earth? But since this "image" is not taken from earth... maybe these ARE the same constellations being viewed, but from a different point in space? It would explain why they are slightly skewed? Or it could just be people seeing something in nothing? we shall see.

How many halos are there supposed to be? The new ring on the symbol might represent the location of 1/5 halos if there are indeed 5. Perhaps in relation to the new dot (star?) in the center. My memory of Halo facts is bad, but this is a fascinating thread. Sorry if I'm regurgitating old news.

There are seven, of course. Wink

Perhaps not the Halo rings then, but planetary bodies? The spreading of seeds?

7 original halos or 7 remaining at this point in the story? Wouldn't there be 5 remaining leading into Halo 3?

7 original halos, 6 remaining. Halo 05 wasn't blown up in Halo 2, it just wasn't fired.

I think that the halo in Halo 2 is unable to fire it was shut down but not blown up so i think the star maps pointing to the last five halos
you can see the ending here:

off topic:also why did the ark just become active if it is suppose to become active after the first one was blown up because it wasn't shut down?

What makes you say that the images are 100% manufactured? Rough consensus right now says that the bacteria image was taken from a guy named Lowry at a university somewhere, so why must this image be manufactured and not taken from somewhere?

I suppose it is possible that the PMs took an existing image and sorted around the star locations in Photoshop, but from what we've seen so far I would say that that isn't likely.

Cassiopeia?

One thing that pops up at me, but it might be a coincidence. I read somewhere that if you were standing on alpha centauri, earth and the sun would be on the constellation of Cassiopeia.

Does anyone have a program that allows you to see the stars from different places? It's been a while since I used any.
