Bourne Ultimatum ARG google.com/bourne I just saw this poster in the theater last night. It links to www.google.com/bourne which links you to http://www.searchforbourne.com/ . It looks like its gonna be an ARG. Is there any info on it yet? (I'll upload the picture of the poster as soon as it gets sent to my email.)

Oooh, this could be fun.
Does the flash animation at the url posted above just kinda go crazy for anyone else, or is it just my comp? I had to uncheck the "Loop" option in the right-click menu just to stop the blue window from opening over and over, and now it's just opening all the tidbits of the page over and over again.
Maybe I should just try it on my computer when I get home.

not an arg, just another viral-marketing-extended-experience-web-game promoting the movie. Potentially fun and successful, but not an ARG in its truest sense

The key phrases that stand out for me are:
"With Google tools at your fingertips" -- this reminds me of the MSN Search game a year or two ago, in that there will be tasks designed to expose players to more than just the Google search bar.
"have a chance to win amazing prizes " -- this is the kiss of death, making it a contest, a competition, and much less of an immersive community experience.
"The search starts July 16th" -- just enjoy yourselves, have no expectations, and Good Luck!

OK, probably not an ARG, but oooh. Prizes. Matt Damon. Could do worse.

Yep, the game started at midnight eastern time today.
It's basically like the Pirates of the Caribbean game. You get a mission each day and after you solve it, you don't get another one until the next day. If you fall behind, you can play all the missions you have missed in succession.
Each day, you're entered into a drawing for different prizes.
However, there are definitely some ARGish elements, because they have created web sites for the game.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The first mission has you visiting http://www.daternotes.com , looking for photos to prove a guy is in Paris. Once you find the photo, you have to submit the URL to an agent to verify it. I also found another interesting person there who had three surveillance videos, which pointed out a sequence of three numbers. I don't know what that has to do with anything yet, but curious all the same
Once you finish your mission, you're supposed to be able to choose from several different surveillance cameras to try and catch a glimpse of Bourne. Each sighting gets you into a drawing for an iPhone. Right now though, that interface seems broken, because I can only get a generic loop video playing of Bourne walking across a street. Occasionally on a page refresh I'll see the actual interface you're supposed to have for selecting the cameras, but it never fully loads up. They could fix it later today, though.

Odd, it only tells me "Log in tomorrow to receive your next mission." And the other site shows a missing page and a number of missing photos. Maybe something they're doing a rush fix on?

I know who the guy is, but i cannot figure out how to find the right picture...
and what is the significance's of "Estragon est mort." or translated into english "Tarragon died"? ARGG! I'm so confused!!!

The right person only has one picture - and you need the URL of the jpg, not the page with the picture on it.
Also, the flash interface is completely borked - http://www.behindthebuzz.com/the-search-for-bourne/
You can't register properly and you can't place your cameras to track the guy and therefore win points.
Disappointed with this; you would expect the parties behind it to get this right.

As a guess, some predefined code phrase for recognition (since the briefing said it was a site especially for agents). Either that or the guy really enjoys "Waiting for Godot."

It seems to prefer Windows IE to firefox, and notice you have no cameras to places at the moment so maybe its for later...

When I passed the first mission, it told me to select the camera I wanted to try and catch a glimpse of Bourne. It then said: "Cameras Available: 1" in the camera interface.
When I reloaded, it said: "Cameras Available: 0" in the interface.
Several times when I have logged back in, it has begun to show the interface where you click on a camera, but then it refreshes to show that looped Bourne video.

Well I'll say this, I'm on the second mission. Either I'm way out of practice, or this one actually has some detective work and puzzle solving to it!
I'm enjoying it, I'll say that much.
EDIT:
Ah ha! Got it. Yes, it was simple, but I figured it out. heheh.
The camera interface worked this time, and I was able to select two of them. I then got the option to save it. Nothing happened.
When I reloaded the page, it told me I had 0 cams available and 0 cams selected. I'm not sure if this is a glitch, or if I had chosen the right camera, it would have instantly told me I saw Bourne and credited me for the sighting.
