I was thinking the same thing about a Rosetta Stone.

I disagree with the rotations theory that says servers are linked to the rotated glyph. But we'll have to see.

If it is true: I think they're going counter-clockwise, not clockwise. This is because StarImage1 has a 1, and then Server 05 has a 5. It would make more sense if the reflection in the Chief's visor was the last glyph. Also, it's a reflection, so technically it is either the first or the last, but it is the same as the StarImage1 glyph...if the reflection matters.

So either they go clockwise, and Chief is seeing the first glyph if they didn't reflect it, or the last if they did, and StarImage1 has the last. Or they go counter-clockwise and Chief is seeing the last glyph if they didn't reflect it, and the first if they did, and StarImage1 has the first.

Spec-

Glyph 1- AR/SOTA
Glyph 2- StarImage1
Glyph 3- Highlighted on back panel of Monitor on Sever 5

Looking at the Forerunner Monitor (?) on Server 5, we have all seen that a new version of "the glyph" is present on the lower portion of it's back panel. This new glyph (which I am going to call Glyph3) also contains the small circle at the end of one of it's arms that we see in StarImage1.

Below Glyph3, on the Monitor (?), there are 4 more variations of Glyph1 which have not been highlighted and do not seem (hard to tell) to have any circles.

These glyphs will most likely be highlighted as the next servers are opened, each with a small circle on one of it's arms. If that is true it would logically follow that when we see a StarImage2 a new glyph will be present.

By the placement of Glyph2 in StarImage1, I would guess that Image2 will be the same as Image1 with the addition of a new Glyph. Follow? We would then basically have StarImage1 with 2 Glyphs in it.

Until we have something like this.

What do you think?

I believe the glyphs will appear each on their OWN starimage. e.g. starimage2.jpg through starimage5.jpg. If you look closely you'll see some other symbol in the extreme top right of starimage1.jpg. I am guessing you will get multiple images with some sort of key to put them together, a la "Contact" (the movie).

That's some really good work, Angri, but I think the glyphs would have a little more of a purpose to them if they were all meant to be in that one star image. For example, look at the rotation of them, and the openings in the pattern in relation to the other glyphs, it seems random to me.

Here's something to look into.

Here's the Glyphs for our own solar system, and some from the h1 (not sure if all of them are here) and the glyphs from AR and the servers. There seem to be some similarities, but they could be just because of the "art form." With all the mentioning of saturn and mars I think there maybe something to find. Earth's glyph can be seen in a number of the other glyphs (but with additional markings).

Just something to chew one. I made a quick reference sheet.

Sorry to bump this, and sorry if it's already been mentioned, but has anyone compared 343 Guilty Spark and 2401 Penitent Tangent?

other than color they look identical. I kept looking for the glyph in the face of the monitor, but found nothing.

There are small etches in the surfaces of each Monitor. It may be nothing, but they look slightly different to me.

Well, well well. I'm going to have to reiterate the clock theory here. I was reminded of the closing slipspace portal on Onyx, and that Halsey was able to estimate the time until it closed using Forerunner glyphs. This implies that there is some kind of glyph clock system. Because of the clues we've been thrown (the loading animation on Server 05, the five successive glyphs on the server, etc.) it is safe to say that they indicate the relative passage of time (or a time-related phenomenon).

We know that these glyphs are present on the Ark, so they must represent different stages of Ark activity or an activity the Ark monitors. Since the only such system we've been presented with was relative to the opening of portals, and the (trailer shows the) center of the Ark contains an opening portal as described on Onyx, I assume that it is a portal timer, broken into five parts. The "hand" is marked by the outer ball, and the closed outer perimeter coincides with a closed portal. Based purely on what we've been given, it's the only thing that fits. Of course future details might change that.

The Lunar Cycle?

I was just posting about the Lunar Cycle and the Sota Application and I came across the Phases of The Moon. Tell me this doesn't look like our glyph:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Phases_of_the_Moon.png

Also there is a formula for determing new lunar cycles (New Moons)here

That actually makes a lot of sense... When AR first commented that it had begun, it was the 14th. The 14th June was a new moon which puts the moon at position 12'o'clock.

Then on the 21st, server 05 opened which was between crescent and quarter moon.

http://stardate.org/nightsky/moon/ - This is the page I used to see what the moon was doing at those points. Smile

EDIT - Following that pattern, the next thing should have happened around the 26th as thats when the moon was waxing gibbous...

"Additionally June 2007 has a second full moon falling on the 30th."
