[SPEC] Origin of Forerunners on Earth / Server 05 BG img

Just try to stay with me, I'm sure this will get confusing. Embarassed
But it seems to me just a small piece of the puzzle if it could be anything at all.

I suppose a good place to start would be with this picture:

The glyph on this map seems to be denoting a location of something. Any number of possibilities could or, more likely, could not be true, but from what I've read I'd say it could be the location of the server/monitor we see with a matching symbol at http://206.16.223.61/E5h2JK/flash/web/index.html

Or it could point to what seems to be close to where Atlantis is thought to have existed, as seen here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Atlantis_map_1882.jpg

I'm going to run with the Atlantis thing a bit.

In one of Rush's posts in the Glyph thread he mentions that Atlantis is thought to have utilized alien technology.

On the wikepedia on Atlantis:

Quote:
The concept of Atlantis also attracted National Socialist (Nazi) theorists. In 1938, Heinrich Himmler organized a search in Tibet to find a remnant of the white Atlanteans. According to Julius Evola (Revolt Against the Modern World, 1934), the Atlanteans were Hyperboreans—Nordic supermen who originated on the North pole (see Thule). Similarly, Alfred Rosenberg (The Myth of the Twentieth Century, 1930) spoke of a "Nordic-Atlantean" or "Aryan-Nordic" master race.

This would seem to tie in with some of the reseeding theories, perhaps the forerunner planted some of themselves, not just basic genetic or biological strands that would eventually evolve into themselves at some point. Possibly these planted "complete forerunner" could have been there to awaken at some point and "grab the reins" of the human evolution and steer it in the right direction as an assurance that we would reclaim the ancient technology.

From the Wiki on Hyperboreans
Quote:
In Greek mythology, according to tradition, the Hyperboreans were a mythical people who lived far to the north of Thrace. Their land, called Hyperborea, or Hyperboria ("beyond the Boreas (north wind)"), was perfect, with the Sun shining twenty-four hours a day.

Never the Muse is absent
from their ways: lyres clash and flutes cry
and everywhere maiden choruses whirling.
Neither disease nor bitter old age is mixed
in their sacred blood; far from labor and battle they live.

(Pindar, Tenth Pythian Ode, Richmond Lattimore, translator).

Reaching such exotic lands is never easy:

Never on land or by sea will you find
the marvelous road to the feast of the Hyperborea.

Pindar cautioned. The Greeks thought that Boreas, the North Wind, lived in Thrace, and that therefore Hyperborea was an unspecified nation in the northern lands beyond Scythia.

The mention of sacred blood also fits in with my brother's theory here:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19751

Also the mention that they came from the north pole, which is cold, makes me think again of the possibilty of the forerunner "freezing" themself to awaken at a later time. Although I know that the temperatures needed for cryo freezing an organism would likely be much, much lower than those of the north pole.

The Atlanteans we supposedly wiped out when after they started a campaign in europe and africa and were stopped by Athenians which led to the disappearance of Atlantis as a continent. It is said in the article though, that the Atlanteans forced the populations they conquered into slavery.

That doesn't sound very "forerunner" to me, it more closely relates to what the Covenant do in such situations.

But during the way, I would say that is entirely possible that some of the Atlanteans could have mated with normal earth-folk and possibly started the "royal bloodlines."

I realize that the Ark is the most likely place where the forerunner/atlanteans would have been in slumber, and that it is most certain NOT at the north pole. But, maybe there's another site, although I doubt it.

---Just throwing stuff out there to see if anything catches. I'm sure this game is going to reveal alternate interpretations of hazy moments in human history at some point.

edit: adjusted the name a bit

Well, those were some really good ideas, but in all honesty, I think that screen was just for the PM's. You're suppose to click your continent, then what country your in. This lets them know where the most players are, so they know where to have the most events (if there will be any). Also, the country select comes up before the birthdate thing, because it is possible that Halo 3 has different ratings in different countries, so the required age could be different depending on your location.

What is interesting though, is that the open part of the arc is open towards Europe. I don't know if that could mean anything though...

What I find interesting is that each of the clickable symbols are located in that background image, and the 'glyph' is in a 3rd iteration... different from the original, and the one on the starmap, no?

(trout me if this has already been raised in another thread =P)

It's been a while so I hope this trout is correct. at least for the 3rd iteration, nice catch though on the other small symbols, I just noticed that they may be there too.

ah thanks. haven't caught up on all the threads yet.
That thread would be an obvious candidate, I should have checked.

Let that be a lesson everyone myself! Wink
