Really Strange Advertisment
I found it in the newspaper

this has got to be one of the dodgiest things i have ever seen; an advertisment for an agency boasting the ability to surgically implant 'up to 20mb' of memory into the back of your head in the form of a usb port.

the copy reads as follows:

Quote:
NEW
UP TO 20mb REAL MEMORY
Don't let them forget the best parts of growing up!

Finally surgery meets technology.
A relativly (sic) painless procedure
allows you to store up to 20mbs of
memory in your head. Dont forget
birthdays, holidays, parties,
and other important dates again.

Cosmetic Memory Surgery Closer to Home
younearlyforgot.com

Certified by
the board
of cosmetic
enhancment (sic)

Cr. G. Clements Jr.

thats about it. the site it links to www.younearlyforgot.com has nothing to do with it at all, either.

[edit - just quoted the newspaper ad to separate it - kona]

That does seem rather odd. Would you mind telling us what paper it was in (or even just whether it was a local or national, and what country)?

It was in a free newspaper given out at train/bus stations in Ireland called the Metro. another weird thing was it had two pictures of the Dr Clements overlapping each other, one when hes bald, and a smaller one when hes not. the main picture is also wierd, its the back of a babys head, with a USB port in it.

Sounds interesting....Matrix or possible Metacortechs reference anyone....

I'm wondering if it is a reference to the Matrix as I believe I heard something about The Matrix coming out in high def really soon. Maybe it's a marketing campaign...maybe not.

I'm waiting for the image....

Ooooh this reminds me of another arg recently.

The website is just a nifty site that reminds you of important events. Which is a great idea because I have a 3 second memory xD

I might be wrong, but I think the ad is just a cool viral marketing thing to get people to check out the site.

Surely the site only works if you remember to put in the things you need reminding of?

I remember reading somewhere that the human brain is currently 20x more powerful than the world's best computers...

So, really, 20 MB doesn't seem like that much.

Not sure what that contributes, but I tried. XD

Hm... Maybe it's just a clever ad for their site. Like, you can get 20MB worth of reminders sent to your email, which is like your 'head.'
