[Info] Server 5 (What we know) This information was received with the unlocking of Server #5.
Apparently, a Forerunner or an AI with multple personas (indicated by multiple voices) left us it's final transmission.
In this transmission this entity told us that it had been altering time with the intention of stopping some catastrophe. It indicated that many plans were attempted and that they had all failed. This last attempt is it's last hope and seems to be one that will keep it from trying again.
A suicide mission. One that seems to include a battle and D-Command stating that...
Quote:
There is no peace left. No place where the parasite cannot reach. You were right about it all. Let us hope the final measure is not too late.
...and...
Quote:
It's done. By my hands. The pyrrhic solution is ignited. All I have left is the quiet of space to lull me to sleep. I will dream of you.
The Halo Array is then apparently, intentionly fired in order to stop the Flood.
We were then told, by the entity, that if this didn't work that we should...
Quote:
Take these keys and dip from the wells of history. Perhaps through others of us you may find how to save us all.
The firing of 7 Halos shows that, beyond a doubt, these events took place some 100,000 years ago. The only time that all the Halos existed and were fired. During Halo 1 & 2, one of the Halos was destroyed and Cortana had disabled a 2nd with the intent of destroying it.

Could it bed a possibilty that the wells of history is the ark?
I mean, it is a giant hole in the ground.

It could be anything Kirby but what we are probably looking for is a website to enter our keys into. Have you seen the comic on bungie.net? It'll probably be 100 more of those.

I'm somewhat new to this, but I had a bit of experience poking around the Metroid Prime 2 sites. I went through like 125 pages of information today and I gotta say it feels good to get caught up!
Going on the idea that these pictures are the key, I think it's worth taking a look at StarImage1. The glyph in this image is slightly different. The top left "spoke" lengthens and goes past the circle, like the other "spokes", and it also has a unique little circle on the end of it. I also think it's worth noticing that the circle is tangential to the spoke (off to one side, kinda) instead of "attached" at the end. What these mean I do not know, but I am seeing a sort of pattern.
The glyph, as we know, has been present in every piece of this puzzle. It has to be because it's very presence is what we use to determine if something is related to the game or not. It is central to this whole thing. The pattern I'm seeing has to do with these 5 locked (well 4 now) servers, and these 5 "spokes". After we unlocked one of the 5 servers, one of the 5 spokes changed while the rest of the glyph remained the same. Maybe each spoke represents a server? I believe the glyph will keep changing in a similar manner as we unlock more servers, but only time will tell. I also haven't got a clue as to how it this all comes together in the end.
Unfortunately, I can't see how this theory helps us figure out how to use the information at hand. I felt like sharing my theory in this topic because it seems the goal of this topic is to try to unify and organize our information, which my theory attempts to do too.
Perhaps the manner in which the glyph has changed can provide a clue as to what to do next?
EDIT: I totally overlooked that the circle in the glyph gets a segment chopped off, essentially "opening up" a part of it. Perhaps similarly to the server we opened up?

Yes.

I just hit on the open server/quadrant idea myself.
I wonder though where these "keys" will be used.

Question: Why would the AI (or whoever left the transmission log) use the term "pyrrhic" when it obviously pertains to King Phyrrus from Roman history? They shouldn't know that term...

I believe what was meant was that 100,000 years ago, the Forerunner were faced with the Flood. And after thousands of plans and attempts to stop them, they came up with the Halo's (And started construction of the Ark on Earth). From the way the person is talking in "Array Recorder Data", and the computer output, it sounds like they were in a spacecraft watching a fleet of ships taken over by the Flood. They activated the Halo's, and it worked.
Who the Forerunner is that speaks in the transmission, I do not know. It could be the same one that was in the spacecraft that activated the Halo's by the way it talks. However, it sounds basically like something has awoken it, and it's realised that the human race is in danger, not only from the Covenant but the Flood too as well. And while knowing of the danger the Flood is, they believe that we can learn something from their past that might help us survive without activating the Halo's.

I somehow doubt we'd get much out of the ARG if the PMs hewed too closely to what hyper-advanced aliens from 100,000 years ago would say into their recording... for instance, how's your Forerunnerese?
It's a translation. If the system is sophisticated enough to parse natural language in real-time (AR) then it's sophisticated enough to adopt modern idiom.
-- Steve's wondering how many native English speakers don't know the etymology of "pyrrhic" and yet use the term because they've heard it elsewhere.

Haha...fair enough. I was going down some path in my mind of Forerunners being from the future and coming back and...yeah...let's just say it was too much to handle. I like the fact that the AI is just trying to put it in our terms better.

I also just noticed that the glyph under the air.. vent.. type.. thingy.... um at the back of the Server 5 device. Many saw it and immediately identified it as the one we've all come to know and love but it is actually a little different. The top right segment of the circle has been taken out. EDIT: After seeing the other thread this is the same glyph in StarImage1, but rotated.
There are 5 glyphs in total, with the top one "lit up". I went into 2x zoom with MS Paint (yeah I'm lacking proper ARG tools, sue me) and I can clearly see that the other glyphs are all different. I'm not 100% sure but it looks like the missing segment goes clockwise as you go down the glyphs. Included is a TERRIBLE image that I hope gets my message across. Blue outline indicates the circle, red lines indicate the missing segment. Rotate it around a bit and examine each one (the lightning changes a bit as you move it and allows you to see different ones better at different angles), see what you think.
My theory: Each glyph represents a different server. I bet when a new server opens up, a different glyph will be lit up. How we can use this information to get somewhere new.. haven't the foggiest.

It also looks like each of the servers (on halo3.com)could be a new entity. So we may be hearing from a new one soon. Whether they are going to actually help us or not i'm not so sure.

The missing segments go around the glyph like a clock (but in reverse; we're probably going to see/hear how the Flood was made.) This reverse clockery confirms that we've unlocked what is actually the last server created. This would explain why it's been referred to both as Server #1 and Server 05.
So now we're going backwards through chronological events, presumably back to Flood origins.
Now we just need to find another countdown page, or another halo 3 comic that links to it.

I concur, so that we can change the future.

I'm a little confused. I can't find this anywhere. It's called server 05, but server #1 on the halo3 site. Did server 5 unlock server #1? And each Server unlocks a different Server? Think of it like a five-pointed star? Or is it the same server but named differently, as stated above?
