Applebees & Suzuki were just paying for advertising space. It's not their fault that Deep Focus messed up.

Perhaps, but the quickest way (by far) to get the message to the people in charge that you are unhappy with the way they're doing things is to boycott their advertisers. If enough people do that, the advertisers pull out, and Court TV and Deep Focus will both feel it in their bank accounts.

Not always, nor did I go to anger in any case. I've just had an email dialogue with Ian Schafer (CEO of Deep Focus), pointing him at this forum and offering myself as a test case. End result:

Quote:
Hi Eric.

I checked, and you were, in fact, on the winners list. The emails were sent out -- it's certainly possible that for whatever reason, they are being trapped by spam filters, or being sent to junk mail.

Did you receive this email?

- IS

I see no reason to disbelieve him, but obviously something did happen to a lot of emails. When the check arrives in the mail, then all is well. Patience.

I'm 99.9% certain that I did not make any spelling errors and I did answer Tenbrook/Cherry St (all spelled out and all that jazz). I have been checking my junk mail as well as regular mail....and the email just ain't there.

As someone else stated, it's not the amount of the prize but just the whole idea that there seem to be several with the correct answer that did not "win." Of course, had the prize been for a couple hundred dollars, you can bet your bippy that I'd be the first one hollering and it would have everything to do with the amount! Laughing As I stated before, I have a teenage son to feed.

I enjoyed the game nonetheless and would have still played had there not been any prize. So why am I complaining? I dunno. Just cuz, I guess. Razz

not angry

I too am in the answered correctly but didn't get an email boat. I really doubt anyone cares about the 4.16. I think the anger/disappoinment is that people took the time to play and didn't receive an email promising they would get their prize. I personally don't care if it's 10 cents, I just want proof of my first online game victory. I was gonna frame that sucker!

not angry

Also, could someone please let me know when their check arrives? I don't care if its months from now, I'm still just hoping I'll get my prize, email or not.

P.S. I feel this way because I stopped getting emails 3 days before the game ended.

Thank you, and congrats winners!

Sandy first of all I'm not upset about $4, I'm disgusted at how mixed up and messed up everything got. I'm sure YOU would holler about it was "all in fun" if you got a email, but I'm also sure if you wouldnt have you'd be on here going off too!! So to that you can keep your $4 and your opinion...

Rolling Eyes Ummmm I can certainly express my opinion thank you very much, it is after all a public forum is it not?

Being upset about how mixed up the game was in the end is understandable imho ... and that wasn't what I was talking about.

It was the comments of boycotting Court TV and/or Applebees that I found to be beyond childish. Most likely those peeps don't eat there often or watch the channel often, shrug.

And no, even if I hadn't gotten an e-mail I would NOT have been one of those stompy fit find of people.

I think the game was fun, but it would have been so much better had it been harder and had less errors.

Speaking of my email, although it said Grant in it, it never did reveal which street address (and how it was supposed to be typed exactly) was right and I submitted 2 different answers.

Do you think spelling Street or St. would make a difference?

I Confused [/color[color=blue]I am not overly concerned about the money that from the looks of things would actually end up to be about $1.50, considering the amount of people including myself who got the answer right without winning. It is the the lack of acknowledgement of having finished correctly. I can't imagine that spelling out the word Street or St. could make a difference.

After reading through this forum, here are a few of my thoghts.

I had fun playing and would not boycott the advertisers.

The person who e-mailed with the CEO of Deep Focus...He said you were on the winners list but you had not eceived an e-mail. Did he offer for you to send in the affidavit?
Remember...right answer + affidavit = winner.
right answer does not = check

Having had the right answer does not make you a winner, isn't that why the winners list is not available until after the affidavits are due. I would like to see a list of the people who had the correct answers and those who claimed their "prize".

There was also a person who thought Their share of the winning would get larger because of all the people that might not got through the effort of sending in the affidavit since the money amount is so small. I think they count on that and the winners only get the share of $25,000.00 divided by the 6013 original winners. Not sending in the affidavit ontime or at all would probably forfiet their "share" only. They probably count on not having to pay out all of the $25,000.00.

I don't see why they can't (oops, I mean won't)post the answers and those who got the answer right, before the affidavits need to be in...except for that they are trying to limit how much they actually have to give out.

Hi, I've been around, just recently after the game was over, and am just now registering. I just wanted to say that I think that no matter who got their emails, that if you did not get yours, you are probably still counted in the winners amount of 6,013. I can't see them having an issue counting the winners, yes, i can see them possibly having issues notifying some winners, thats something very possible. But I do think that if you gave the right answer you probably won and therefore are counted in that 6,013 winners and entitled to your 4.16 or whatever. Just because there are so many people didn't get their emails, doesn't mean they didn't win. Try to think of all the times you've had issues with your computer and then think of that on a grander scale, give them some time, lol.

BTW love the site, will be around and hope to play some more games like this and the likes.

 Deep Focus Pocus

This does not surprise me at all. Deep Focus made so many errors, it figures that many of us (myself included) who entered all the correct answers, as well as the correct final answer, didn't get an email saying we'd won. Personally, however, I suspect they whittled down the list themselves so that they could save costs on mailing to the winners to come under budget, given all the overtime they used scrambling to fix clues, etc. I realize a lot of you are saying $4.15 is fine and that no one should take this seriously, but actually this is fraud -- a crime that has major repercussions. This is why there are class action lawsuits, folks.

I'm not saying we should collectively sue them, but I do think that fraud should not go unpunished.

Perhaps the promoters of the game could have responded with the answers typed in...a confirmatoin email that indicated what you typed in. This way, if you got it right...you would have your proof.

I think the way that it was handled and the way that the notification was handled shows that they could have made some errors somewhere. If there were some type of class action suit from the non winners (who claim that they entered the correct post)...they could have a problem!

Quite honestly after I keyed in the answer I (more or less) started my self doubt about spelling or whatever...so a confimation email sent at the point of entering the final answer would have (at lease) made everyone feel better about what they did in fact answer.

Hey everyone

For some reason they just now sent me the email saying I was a winner maybe because I sent something to them? Not sure if that had anything to do with it though because I think the number of winners is the same

Aye, I got the email today too, and the header indicates it was sent today, not hung up in limbo all this time. I don't know yet if this means they're targeting those who didn't get notified or if they're just resending to everyone because of the reports. If some of you who got emails a week ago get another, it's the latter.
